I think it might actually be more scary if the Operator turned out to be sexless and smooth like a melted ken doll.

Well, if the story Alex tells in Entry #38 is true, the Operator is likely to be a manifestation of the criminals that were stretched in the woods. This explains his murderousness, but it also makes him a sex offender.
In short, if Alex's story wasn't just to creep Jay out, the Operator almost definitely has a penis.

What freaks me out is the not knowing. Sure, everyone has their idea of what the Operator might be or not be. But as of now there isn't a concrete explanation. The Operator can be anything as of now.

Also, the fact that somehow he's omniscient and/or omnipresent freaks me out.

*turns to make sure he's not there*

My issue actually isn't that he has no face. I mean, that part is weird, but it's not the part that scares me.

I think the creepy part is that he finds you. He finds you and chooses you and there's nothing you can do to save yourself. That's the worst part. And it's not like you can just grab a gun or lock your doors, because he will find a way into your home. And what can you do if you can't even be safe in your own home?

Second place is the hypnotism, of course. Not knowing where you are for hours at a time while an entity could be torturing you is just...woah.

His lack of face disturbs me. Wink

Also, the way he tilts his head sometimes. I don't know why, but it is inexplicably terrifying. Like he's sizing you up for his next meal.

Honestly, it's how he's not human at all and yet he looks so human. Not just humanoid, but human. Got a suit and everything. It's just surreal.

Yeah, I always kind of had that idea, too--that he wasn't so much wearing a suit as he is a suit. Like he's attempting to look like an "average human," who is apparently a white dude in a suit (social commentary?), but lacks an understanding of human anatomy and the concept of clothing, and this guise, deep in the Uncanny Valley, is the best he can come up with. I think it has to do with his hands, the way they're shown in MH as being covered in the same black material. And I don't think we ever get a look at his feet, do we?

I think the single scene with the Operator that frightened me the most was in Entry 6, where he silently glides past Alex's window.

Seriously, NOTHING should move like that. Like a corpse being slowly dragged across the glass and then suddenly you realize that it isn't a corpse, it's something alive, and it's looking at you.

Guh, that was the first entry to give me nightmares. None of the other entries have terrified me quite as much as that brief moment, not even Entry 46.

In Entry 22, The Operator made a noise in response to Alex's "Hello" or whatever he said. THAT NOISE is what freaks me out the most. But no one ever talks about it, so it's kinda sad.

You mean Entry #23 in response to Jay. The noise was a mimic of Jay's "Hello?" except in a lower pitch.

And people do talk about it. I actually mentioned it in the first page of this topic. o_o
