Random stuff, I've read all the posts in the thread before posting, so I'm trying to not repeat too much from previous postings except for agreements on various things:

- Jessica's coughing on her way into the hotel: We've seen video/audio distortion from Alex before when he gets pissed off, maybe during that whole rage sequence he was also "emitting" Slendy-ness and infected her a bit?

- I agree with those who think Masky was the source of the footsteps, and was stalking them for a chance to get even with Alex. That happened before to Jay in the woods, where he kept hearing footsteps, and later chased (was led by) Masky out to the tunnel. The peek into the side room on the way up the steps was probably just caution, but might also have been a shout-out to the Masky ambush video from which we had his identity confirmed.

- Phone number safe code: I'm agreeing with those who suggested Jay wasn't sure about memorization and either he or she wrote it down, and probably O-symboled the zero subconsciously due to Slendy-influence. (Either that or Masky dropped in at some point and trolled them by Xing the 0.)

- Epic screaming from Jessica. (OOG: I agree that the audio was surely done elsewhere and dubbed in post-production.)

- Jay appropriately looked like hell at the start, and I thought it was some great acting from him too. I loved the little chuckle at himself about Jessica's foolishness at following a stranger into the woods.

- Extra points on the Adorkable and Took a Level in Badass entries on TVTropes, for Jay in this entry. He was so protective of Jessica (still admitting that this was dangerous, but maybe Alex really was telling the truth about Amy), and he goddamned charged the Operator.

- Props to those who pointed out in the midst of the audio distortion that Jay was yelling at the Operator. I'd totally missed that in the middle of my "ohshit" moment.

- Great anger and desperation and ambivalence from Alex in his speech.

- Theorizing about what the masks mean, etc. - I was wondering if Jay might be Hoody with multiple-"personality" going on, but I'm pretty sure that doesn't fit the timeline, and Brian seems more likely, especially with Brian seeing Tim in the building in #51. (OOG: Especially since Brian seems really busy IRL so he's hard to get in for filming - a hooded figure is less likely to have identifying clues about who the actor is.)

- Masky's ambush got a big old w00t from me, and so I was simultaneously glad and worried to see Tim looking very normal at the end of the video. Did he kill Alex? Was he actually normal now? Did he remember anything? Or is he the Operator's new toy?

GAAAH! I stay up until 2 for a week, and then the one night I go to bed early it gets posted?! Sad aww. At least my fever has died down.

WARNING: Won't be bothering to put spoiler tags on any of this.

So, I have a lot of mixed feelings about this entry. On one hand I think it just establishes a lot of what we already knew, and I'm a little disappointed that there was no huge revelation or anything. The only unpredictable things were Alex pulling a gun as opposed to a rock and Jay's encounter with the Operator. On the other hand, I thoroughly enjoyed it and I liked the setup for S3.

I liked Jay's opening monologue. Since he doesn't usually address the audience within the footage itself, whenever he does you know something very personal is about to happen. Also, he looks like crap. I liked his lampshading, but the fact that he establishes a) Alex is probably an evil douche, b) Alex killed a bunch of their friends, and c) Following Alex into the woods is a terrible idea, and yet he GOES IN ANYWAY had me yelling at the screen. Really Jay? Bring a knife! Bring something! Better yet, don't go at all! What makes him think you're any different than the rest of the MH cast? At least he realizes his mistake at the end.

The gun is interesting. Not only do we now have a source for the bullet casing in S1, but it seemed to me that Alex was more desperate than anything else--when he uses the rock, it seems to be an indication of his unstoppable rage, but here it seems more like: "I don't really want to do this, but I have to." Beating someone to death with your bare hands, you gotta have some real fury to do that, it needs to consume you. A gun is so impersonal, you don't even have to look at someone while you kill them. Maybe he was sort of ashamed? He seems really reluctant to kill Jay, despite the fact that's he's had "so many chances" he waits until now, and even then the gun gives him kind of an "Let's just get this over with." mentality.

Dude! Tim! Fucking Tim! That was so cool! I had to laugh though. The angle his face was at reminded me of this. And it was a little strange that Alex couldn't hear him, but maybe he was getting really into the whole "killing my friends" thing. I'm not here to judge. I always suspected Tim was good!

I can't be the only one hoping for an epic Tim-Jay Super-Team Up, right? Although it could be awkward at first.

"So, what was with that one time you were in my bed...?"
"Oh...I was, uh, trying to freak you out."
"Yeah...it worked."

Mad kudos to Jay. Major character development there. First we have him at the beginning finally realizing that all this shit has been going down. Then we have him protecting Jessica--"Let's get some distance between him and us." "Stay behind me." which I thought was just adorable. Then we have him goddamn LUNGING at the Operator like a boss, although it becomes horrifying if you consider Entry 43--we still don't know if Alex was approaching it of his own volition or being sucked in, so what if the latter is the case here? However, his rageyells make me think that he just ran at it from the adrenaline or something. I couldn't hear exactly what it was he yelled--it was like "What do you want?! Leave us alone!" or something like that, right?

That whole scene was wacko. He got mindraped in like, a big way :S I was honestly expecting something like an Operator shadow passing over him, but this...holy crap.

His ending monologue was strong, too. I really enjoyed it. This time he's not out to save Alex--he's out to stop him from doing whatever the fuck he's doing. Calling it now: S3 ends with Jay killing Alex himself, cue epic depression, but he lives.

The thing at the end with Tim was interesting, but frustrating. Interesting because it shows that in his downtime Tim is just a guy who smokes and walks around, but frustrating because I kept yelling at Jay to go talk to him, he saved your life for Chrissake!

All in all I think it was a pretty good entry. Not my favorite (Alex really needs to enunciate more, his rage makes him hard to understand) but enjoyable nonetheless.

Someone asked about what Alex said during his whole "I HAS A GUN" speech. This is the best I can make out:

"I know you stole the tape from me. The one with Brian on it? And I know you've been following me too. I've had PLENTY of chances to do this. I DIDN'T WANT TO GET JESSICA INVOLVED! That's why I told her that I found Amy - THAT WAS YOUR FAULT! When I gave you those tapes I told you never to mention them again! I know that implied not sharing them with the world! I never should have given you those tapes in the first place, I should of burned them when I had -"

(here's where TiMasky hits him, but I presume the last words would be "the chance").

he goddamned charged the Operator.

Fairly certain he didn't. Slendy Mythos dictates that he can pull victims in towards him, and that's what I thought we saw. If I was charging someone/thing I really wouldn't bother to have the camera pointed at it, whether or not I was filming for a YouTube project, and the MH crew are smart enough to know this...

Otherwise, valid points, well made Lyni.

Good entry, almost makes up for the previously boring ones, although a lot of them are actually interesting now in retrospect. Kinda wish they were interesting at the time.

I was thinking about this last night. This place is gonna turn into a ghost town for a while Sad sure, a few of us will try to maintain it, but it's gonna be pretty empty until January. But just think of how much fun it'll be when Season 3 kicks off and we all come back and exchange greetings again! Smile

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
What I'm nervous about is the end of S3. I know it is way too early to be sad about this, but I just keep thinking of what'll happen when the last season ends. We'll say that we'll keep up the discussion, and for a while, it'll work. We'll try. But people will forget, the lack of new content will mean nobody checks bad regularly, and it'll become a ghost town again--permanently this time. And then the board is going to get archived and we'll only see each other on other boards.

I really should not care this much about an internet forum, but I like this place.

Mm, true true; I'm mixed on this. Could have been a combination of the two - Jay charges in desperation and Operator says "great, you can't hurt me anyway." *pull*

I forget from my read-through of the thread if anyone noticed this - at 4:21, there's a little audio distortion with Alex getting shouty. He says, "That's why I told her I found Amy, (distortion) that's your fault! (end distortion)"

More audio distortion at 4:26, "I told you to never mention them again, (distortion) I thought that implied not sharing them with the world! (end distortion)"

I should note this is from version 2 of the video, maybe it was or wasn't in the initial one.

Where was it confirmed that they would start back up in January?

I thought Troy mentioned it somewhere, but I could be wrong. Chances are that even if he did say that, it'll come back in March or something xD

I think I remember something about that being when he graduates?

I can't find the exact entry, but Tim said on his tumblr that they were hoping to get started in January. He also said that's when Troy graduates, so he'll have more time to devote to MH.

I'm going to be careful about my expectations, though. "Getting started" in January in no way means we'll get entries then.

Do you guys think we'll get one more TTA response before the season completely ends?

I think that Jay charged him, because right before you can hear behind the distortion he goes "WHAT DO YOU WANT?! LEAVE US ALONE!" He's screaming, and he's extremely angry.

Also, I admittedly like the idea of Jay charging him. Not just because it's badass, but because it means charging The Operator is a really bad idea. Like a "The last 7 months will turn to mush" bad idea. Maybe he should've run away. But then again, maybe him distracting The Operator saved Jessica. Also, it just showed character development. Jay is going from being a derp detective that has no idea what's going on and just wants it to stop, to being a derp detective that has no idea what's going on and knows that he has to stop it.
