Season 2 Finale Speculation Thread
How will this season end?

What will the final entry of Season 2 contain?

I'll start:

I think it will be relatively short compared to the Season 1 closer... And will contain raw footage of Amy being executed, or possibly on a less fatal note, simply her whereabouts.

It would also probably be nice to know where this supposed "Ark" is located.

Your thoughts?

I dunno yet, seems to me like its going for a 'Tell us what we need to know yet stay ambiguous for the rest' cliffhanger, that will take us back to real time. AND HOPEFULLY BLOW ARE FREAKIN' MINDS!

It'll be in two parts, the first will show us the full events of entry 38 and entry 27, connecting the tapes to the waking up in the hotel room.

The second half will be the HOLY SHIT moment, where we find out what exactly Jay has been up to since he abandoned the hotel, and it will be awesome.

Like maybe torturing Amy who was in his trunk the whole time :wild speculation:

I'm really hoping mostly for a continuation of Entry 38, I actually would prefer the context for Entry 29 to wait until Season 3. Also, in a Lovecraftian bent, I would prefer the final revelation drives Jay to madness or suicide.

Don't you tell me that Jay killing himself wouldn't break your heart just a little. :c Poor dude.

It will appear to give us all of the answers but leave everyone on the Unfiction forums with months-worth of questions to try to de-tangle.

Just sayin'.

Seriously, though, I think that since Jay has been so safe for the past few months in the present, the finale will involve him falling into danger whilst the events of last summer are wrapped up. I'm assuming that since TTA has been moving at a strange pace, his re-involvement directly with Jay is also likely to play a factor... so probably, TTA will hook up with Jay to drag him back into the mix with the Operator (potentially Jessica, too, as she seemed important and we're only just starting to see her showing up again now!). Alex will probably be revealed as dead as well, though how and by what means...

We'll see!

Oh I would feel sorry for him, for a while, but then I'll have an excuse to drink to his memory!

You can already drink to Jay's memory. The missing parts of it, anyways.

I'm fairly confident that Season 2 will end with Jay recovering his memories somehow, or at least he will have gone through all the tapes that cover the seven months to be able to make some pretty good guesses.

And of course this would involve revealing how he and Jessica ended up at the hotel together... and possibly why she lied to him about them knowing each other.

On that subject... would anyone be opposed to me starting a "[SPEC] Why was Jessica lying about her association with Jay?" thread, or is this already covered/unanimous?

I don't think she way lying, I believe she was mind wiped as well. She says that she didn't know how she got to the hotel, and that she was loosing large chunks of memory. At most, she did like Jay and lied at first because they didn't know that they knew each other prior to them waking up in the hotel.

I'm with MorbidPuppies on this one. I don't think that she lied, either, so much as she didn't know what the fuck was going on but didn't want to look like she was missing chunks of memory.

You know, that's a very good point, and I can't believe I didn't think of that. Ugh.

Given what information we have, here is my attempt to predict the rest of the season. When I was getting to end of writing this, I realized how horrible it all sounded. But hopefully it will inspire some better theories. Anyway:

- Jay meets up with Jessica. We also learn that Jessica spoke to or will speak to Alex in person after talking to Jay, or perhaps we get an Alex tape where we get to see her visit.

- For whatever reason, Jessica's visit with Alex causes Alex to calm down, and decide that he will explain everything to Jay. This is either because Alex has even less trust for Jessica, or because the Operator was present during Jessica's visit, and it decided to make Jessica it's new target, freeing Alex from his Operator-influenced craziness.

- Alex calls Jay, telling him that he will explain everything if he comes with him to Rosswood, but he can't bring Jessica along. They go to Rosswood and begin to hike deep into the woods. This tape ends and the unlabeled tape begins.

- Entry #38 happens (hopefully they re-show it for dramatic effect), and we continue into the tape afterwards. They walk to the "chimneys" from Entry #40, while Alex tells Jay all about the mythology behind the Operator. (We may also learn what/where the "ark" is, if it's even going to be something in the story.) To Alex's extreme hesitation, Jay reaches into the chimney that he peered into in Entry #40, and uncovers a lockbox, door, or finds some other type of MacGuffin-holding device that needs a key to open. He then furiously questions Alex about the contents of this locked device, with Alex denying any knowledge of it (though is obviously lying).

...Then, out of nowhere, the Maskys ambush Jay and Alex. Masky tackles Alex. Hoody tackles Jay. Jay's camera is dropped on the ground. Hoody then gets up and helps Masky with beating up Alex (in the process, Alex's blue jacket comes off, revealing a white t-shirt underneath). They begin to interrogate Alex, with the intent of getting him to open the locked device.

Jay runs away, while his camera is still on the ground with Alex and the two maskies in view. Alex tells them that the key to the locked device is back at his apartment. Hoody runs off to Alex's apartment, leaving Masky to watch over Alex. Masky finally gets his revenge by mortally wounding or killing Alex with the block of cement. The camera on the ground dies out.

Meanwhile, Jay runs to Alex's car and grabs the chest cam. He runs back through the woods as the sun begins to set (this is the sped up footage seen at the beginning of #29). He finds his old camera and picks it up, and then follows the trail of Alex's blood. He runs into a small drainage pipe under a bridge, where Masky supposedly stashed Alex's body, and sees Alex's blood-stained white shirt, and the block of cement. However, his body is missing. Jay looks up and sees the Operator standing at the end of the tunnel, causing his chestcam to cease working. (end of Entry #29) Jay presumably escapes, and gets his regular camera working again.

- (maybe) Jay uses Alex's key to open up the locked device and takes out the MacGuffin that's inside. The maskies return and discover that Jay, the only witness to the night's incident, has escaped.

- Later that evening, Jay meets with Jessica and tells her that they need to jump town, because they're being followed. They check into "the" hotel and get their rooms. While Jessica asks Jay what's going on, Jay looks out the window and spots the maskies outside, heading into the building. Jay panics and tells Jessica to hide the MacGuffin in her safe. And I guess Jay puts his tapes and the external hard drive in his safe. But the problem with that, is that we still need to see what happens, so that doesn't quite work.

Anyway, the maskies don't want any witnesses, so they break into their hotel rooms and tie them to their beds. The maskies put some type of crazy TTA video on the TV screens in each of their rooms, effectively forcing Jay and Jessica to watch the video. The video has certain brainwashing qualities which causes them to fall asleep and forget the past several months of their lives. After they're asleep, the maskies untie them, remove the videos from the TVs, and leave, forgetting to turn off the TV in Jay's room.

And little do the maskies know, that the MacGuffin was in Jessica's safe all along. Eventually they find out, which is why Masky returns to the hotel in Entry #33.

Season 2 ending:

The Operator stands completely still in the center of the clearing, tentacles outstretched, floating like ink underwater.

Jay stares at the creature for a moment, gathering his thoughts. His grip on the camera tightens. By now the fear of it's sudden arrival has subsided and has been replaced by anger towards the very thing that has tormented him for years now.

Jay straightens his posture, attempting to show that thing he wasn't intimidated anymore, and prepares for what every may happen next.

A rustle in the bushes catches Jay off guard however. Both He and the Operator turn their heads to the unexpected disturbance.

EMH Evan: I'LL END YOU! *Runs at The Operator with knife*

Jay: What the hell?

Operator: Shocked

* Camera glitches out *

15 minutes later Jay stumbles back to his feet and pans the camera over to Evan wildly swinging his knife and nothing but thin air.

Jay: I'm so confused right now better take a seven month break.

In all seriousness though I do believe Season 2 will end in present time.
