I think it was supposed to be tomorrow (Sat 12/17) but it sounds like it might be rescheduled...?

I'm on the West coast too! Represent! Haha.

Any luck?
Also, does anyone know if the chat actually happened or not?

Ooh, new update from Patricia:

Quote:
"I will remember that there is art to medicine as well as science, and that warmth, sympathy, and understanding may outweigh the surgeon's knife or the chemist's drug."

This was the oath I took when I got my degree. The oath I stand by as a therapist and psychiatrist.

You all seem to know someone, someone who's under attack by the Scraps. I'm very glad she has so many caring friends, but if there is anything I can do to help her, please let me. I don't know who she is, but I can imagine what having to deal with the Scraps has done to her. Apparently, she used to be a patient here at the Pattern. If I could just talk to her maybe? Anything. Just let her know that I'm here for her if she needs it. I won't force the issue.

"Fray", I'm here for you. Why don't you talk to me? I might be able to help, if I wasn't able to help you before. Look at me as nothing more than another concerned friend, if that makes you feel any better about talking to me. I've dealt with the Scraps before, I understand what you must be going through. Talk to me, if you want to. Like I said, I won't force the issue.

She wants to talk to Fray. Interesting.
Also, when asked about whether she's been able to access Elizabeth's file:

Quote:
No, I'm sorry. I have been extremely busy with working with the new patients, and I'm afraid Doctor Shane is not in the mood for me to be asking about Elizabeth's file.

Speaking of Elizabeth, last week I asked the Scraps about her:

Quote:
me: Elizabeth Hatren. Scrap or Traitor?

wearescraps _____:Neither.
Elizabeth
is
unrelated.

This has been up for a little while now, but I'll post it for the sake of continuity:

Story of the Scraps: Chapter 3- The Pavlov Woman

Quote:
But one by one
The children were led to their rooms.
All of them were taken to rooms
without toys or books or rocking horses.
Each one given a number.
Their names had been taken from them.
They simply sat in their rooms and cried.
Then they would be given gowns,
white pants and shirts for the boys
white dresses for the Igirls
They were all given identical metal bracelets
One for each wrist
The boys had their hair trimmed
The girls, grown out.
Then the woman with the books came.
She was very lovely, with soft hair and a smiling face.
She was very motherly indeed.
And she had many books to choose from.
Books of animals.
The Tale of Peter Rabbit
The Tale of Squirrel Nutkin
The Tale of Mr. Tod
The woman with the books would have them pick one from the pile.
The children would read, silently.
When they were finished, the woman would ask:
"Do you feel any particular attraction to the animals in these books?"
And the children would jump up and down with joy.
"Yes yes! We do! The rabbit is most mischievous!"
"And the fox is quite cunning!"
"The badger is very very sneaky. I do not like the badger."
And the woman would shake her head and laugh.
"No, children. I mean... do the animals talk to you?"
"Oh, yes! They do! They are quite talkative!"
"The squirrel the most of them all!"
And the woman would shake her head again.
Then she would pick up a small black device, and speak to the people on the other side of the wall.
"It appears that this batch is not ready either. Permission to condition?"
and the voice would chirp back "Permission granted."
and the woman would look sad, but only for a second.
Then she would smile, and pat the child on the shoulder.
"Do the animals speak to you?"
And the child would furrow his brow. Frowning, he said:
"No ma'am. I do not hear the animals. I have closed the book, you see?"
And the woman would furrow her brow as well.
"I do see. Are you sure?"
And the child would nod. Of course he did not hear things in his mind. Silly woman, perhaps she was not well.
"Let me say it again: You do not see the animals. You do not hear the animals."
The child would nod again.
And the woman would press the button on her device.
"You are not a good child, I am afraid."
And the child would cry out in pain.
The bracelets they had been given.
The bracelets were so very pretty to look at.
But they were also very painful.
"You do not see the animals. You do not hear the animals."
The woman would repeat as the child cried out in pain.
"See, if you are able to see them, then the pain will stop."
"If you were able to see them, then we would have use for you."
"But at this stage, we have no use for you."
And the child would fight back the tears.
"I do see them, ma'am. I see them all."
But the woman would furrow her brow again.
"No, you do not. I can tell. Lying will get you nowhere."
And this continued for an hour or so.
until each child had had their turn being conditioned.
And then the children would be led back to their rooms
To recuperate.
Then came the very first lunchtime.

I feel dumb for not thinking of this sooner... Lol.

The rabbit and the fox.
They aren't metaphors, are they?
They aren't human, but rather, "invisible friends."
Am I right?

Quote:
wearescraps _____
to me

Once again,
very smart.

The Story of the Scraps: Chapter 4 - The Lunchroom, Part I

Quote:
Luchtime came.
The children were given an hour to
recover in our rooms.
Crying silently.
Then, they were awakened by a loud knock.
"Time to eat."
The voice was monotone.
A man in a surgical mask came and led the children out into the hallway.
Had them line up, just so.
In the order of their numbers.
The children were walked into a room.
Benches and tables.
Bolted to the floor.
A group in the corner, eating and talking.
Other children, older than the Special Subjects.
The only other people in the room.
The children sat down at the table.
Their numbers were written on the table
They were given food
on small white trays.
With a small cup.
Filled with pills.
The children ate silently.
"Where are all the others, sir?"
A brave child asked.
The guard looked at the child, glaring.
"Hush. The special subjects will keep silent during meal time."
"But why, sir? Why are we not allowed to speak?"
The guard closed his eyes, reciting.
"The special subjects will not form bonds with any of the other special subjects or faculty."
The other children became interested now.
The stopped eating, and began questioning the guard.
"But why?"
"Why can't we sit with the other children in the corner?"
"Indeed, they do look quite lonely sir!"
"May we keep them company?"
"They look very kind. We shall be good children."
The guard glanced at the second group. He recited again.
"The experimental groups are to be kept separate from the other patients as a control method. The special subjects will dine in a separate hall than the patients and shall have a different diet, also as a control method."
"Why are we special, sir?"
"I do not have access to that information, SS14. Finish your meal so I may escort you back to your cells."
The children ate silently the rest of the meal.
They did so want to be good little children.
There was a commotion at the other table.
One of the other, older children was choking.
"Oh not again."
The guard muttered.
He walked over.
He should not have.

Is it the chat mentioned here http://savedbyscraps.blogspot.com/2011/12/thefinaldelay.html? They list Wednesday, December 28 as the day.
