This one makes sense... sort of

I think I know how the first stage of this one works! I've got all the words except _AL? and PA?S_.

I think I've got the two words for the anagram. If my guess is right, they're

WEASEL and THINK. I just have to find the word that connects them...

One of your letters is wrong. And . . .

This anagram was particularly annoying because the "word break" in the clues was meaningless (not in the correct place). I spent (wasted) several minutes trying to anagram the first five characters.
