Don't know if this is of any use, but I think these are the numbers we're hearing

243615351642

When DTMFpals is opened in wordpad these numbers are at the bottom with MK1 or MK2 before them like this

That makes sense. It basically proves my suspicion that those are the numbers.

It appears the puzzel is broken. Phonopath will notify via twitter when it is fixed:

[16:39] == phonopath [402e02c6@gateway/web/freenode/ip.64.46.2.198] has joined #phonopath
[16:39] <JoeyJo0> Notice there are no numbers during 941Hz and 1633Hz? It's purely numbers.
[16:39] <JoeyJo0> Oh, there he is Smile
[16:39] <GuestUser17> hey phonopath!
[16:39] <phonopath> Hello. I have...unfortunate news.
[16:39] <JoeyJo0> Oh?
[16:39] <rdotm> uhoh
[16:39] <JoeyJo0> We're wrong?
[16:39] <Lowlevel> Yes?
[16:39] <phonopath> 4-1 was not operating as it should, but it seems that nor is 4-4.
[16:40] <Lowlevel> MOTHERFU-
[16:40] <phonopath> This is my error and not yours.
[16:40] <GuestUser17> is there an update?
[16:40] == Gazongola [4d656355@gateway/web/freenode/ip.77.101.99.85] has joined #phonopath
[16:40] <phonopath> There will be. My deepest apologies.
[16:40] <Lowlevel> Any patch?
[16:40] <JoeyJo0> Is it actually defective by design or a stupid error?
[16:40] <Gazongola> Hi guys
[16:40] <GuestUser17> Hey
[16:40] <JoeyJo0> Also, is it wrong in the sound file or in the flash?
[16:40] <phonopath> I will phrase it this way:
[16:40] <GuestUser17> 4-4 apparently has a mistake
[16:41] <phonopath> Joey has essentially solved this puzzle.
[16:41] <Gazongola> How far are we?
[16:41] <GuestUser17> phonopath is about to update us
[16:41] <Gazongola> Oh
[16:41] <Gazongola> I'm confused
[16:41] <Lowlevel> But the sound file isn't letting us validate that because of it's.... screwiness?
[16:41] <GuestUser17> we all are
[16:41] <Gazongola> Ok :p God to know
[16:41] <Gazongola> *good
[16:41] <JoeyJo0> So this is the solution? http://i.imgur.com/vNp1I.png
[16:42] <phonopath> But the number he has gained is not the number intended.
[16:42] <Lowlevel> Oh...
[16:42] <Lowlevel> I get it...
[16:42] <JoeyJo0> Ah
[16:42] <phonopath> I truly appreciate your enthusiasm, and I am working as fast as I can to correct this error.
[16:42] <GuestUser17> so it should have given a different number but the method is correct
[16:42] <Gazongola> Oops
[16:42] <Lowlevel> Joey got that number for the screwy sound file, but the ACTUAL file has a different number
[16:42] <phonopath> The method is correct, and I am legitimately impressed.
[16:42] <Gazongola> This is a great game though
[16:42] <Lowlevel> Ya Way to go Joey!
[16:43] <Gazongola> Yay!
[16:43] <GuestUser17> at least it's good to know we were on the right path
[16:43] <JoeyJo0> Haha, this one was one of the easiest puzzles for me.
[16:43] <phonopath> Then I am only more impressed.
[16:43] <JoeyJo0> I really hated the 'what a nice dress' one.
[16:43] <Lowlevel> PH, i just have one question
[16:43] <JoeyJo0> I couldn't figure that one out, and I admit, stole the answer from the forums Razz
[16:43] <Gazongola> I am better at things like the semaphore puzzle
[16:43] <phonopath> As a show of thanks for your patience
[16:43] <Gazongola> What a nice dress? which was that?
[16:43] <phonopath> I will be adding "Tier 2" achievements.
[16:43] <Lowlevel> These phases 1 - 5... are these only like Level 1?
[16:44] <Lowlevel> Or is that the thing entirely?
[16:44] <JoeyJo0> Well, we have a Stage 6.
[16:44] <phonopath> Thank you again. I will post to Twitter when you may re-download.
16:44] <Gazongola> We do
[16:45] <JoeyJo0> Very Happy
[16:45] <Lowlevel> Thank you PH.
[16:45] <Gazongola> Indeed
[16:45] <JoeyJo0> Thank you for saying so.
[16:45] <JoeyJo0> Otherwise I would've spent a couple more hours in vain.
[16:45] <Gazongola> So how did you arrive at the answer Joey?
[16:46] <Gazongola> So the rest of us plebs can get in on the formula XD
[16:46] <JoeyJo0> Well, there's a low voice and a high voice.
[16:46] <JoeyJo0> First, the low voice says 6 digits.
[16:46] <JoeyJo0> Next, the high voice says 6 digits.
[16:46] <Gazongola> Indeed
[16:46] <JoeyJo0> During this, there is a tone playing in the background.
[16:47] <Gazongola> Yep
[16:47] <JoeyJo0> This tone increases in frequency every couple of seconds.
[16:47] <GuestUser17> PH - you said something was wrong with 4-1. The password was easy to obtain for that. What should have happened?
[16:47] <Gazongola> ok
[16:47] <JoeyJo0> GuestUser17, 4-1 was defective by design, Razz
[16:48] <rdotm> so we can't move on in the game until the 4-4 fix is done?
[16:48] <JoeyJo0> Gazongola: So, what you then do is check when the digit is said.
[16:48] <GuestUser17> "<phonopath> 4-1 was not operating as it should, but it seems that nor is 4-4."
[16:48] <hagbard__> Phonopath - what time frame are we talking about? minutes, hours or days?
[16:48] <JoeyJo0> Low digit 1 is said during the time the 852Hz tone is playing.
[16:48] <JoeyJo0> High digit 1 is said during the time the 1336Hz tone is playing.
[16:48] <phonopath> Definitely today.
[16:48] == rdotm [62ec81ab@gateway/web/freenode/ip.98.236.129.171] has left #phonopath []
[16:49] <phonopath> I can't see it being more than two hours. Ideally, 30 minutes.
[16:49] <Lowlevel> Understood.
[16:49] <Gazongola> right
[16:49] <Lowlevel> Alrighty then.

4-4 Solved

Joey had the right method but two numbers were switched in the wave file by mistake - should have been 833486.

We've got 5-3.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Do a phase cancellation by splitting the stereo into two mono channels and inverting one of the channels.

Write down the 8th notes: SYNTH sounds are 1, no sound or just drum is 0.

I've moved the channel from Freenode to

irc.esper.net:6667

#phonopath

You can use http://mibbit.com/ as IRC client.

For 5-4 I put the tones in order and did some noise reduction and came up with this in the spectrum. But can't read the numbers and don't know enough about harmonics to decide if it means anything.
There seems to be a tone missing just past what looks like it might be a +12.
(Couldn't get spoiler tags to work with this.)

Spectrogram of the 5-4 sound clip, deamplified.

You can see the numbers better with a logarithmic scale.

We've figured 5-4 out:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Harmonic series.

Take the missing notes out of the series:
E, B, C, D, F, A

Read the spectrogram, you get the numbers:
+18, +7, +16, +0, +9, +12

Take a ROT decoding tool.
E -> W (+1Cool
B -> I (+7)
C -> S (+16)
D -> D (+0)
F -> O (+9)
A -> M (+12)

There's your password. Smile

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Next one, slow it down. This gives you a series of numbers, which are frequencies corresponding to musical notes. These spell 'facade'
