What fish said. Word for word. The worst part is that that all makes sense.

Edit: I was talking it over with artemisfang, and had an idea. As far as the notion of a perfect shell goes, I get the sense that HABIT means more mentally than physically. Breaking the person. He seems to give the inHABITed person a certain amount of inherent physical strength and agility.

That said, I have formulated a new theory: Jeff is HABIT's ideal shell. We know he tortured Nick before Nick became his shell, and we know already that Evan's been through hell, but between the past two years, losing those he loves, and so on, being tortured by his best friend might be just what Jeff needs to reach that point.

How would this work with the prophecies? Well, Evan would "no longer define the two within," as he would no longer be inHABITed. He might die in the process, I'm not particularly sure. If Vinnie's idleness is what leads to these things happening to Jeff, I could see an inHABITed Jeff turning on him – with the collection of knives on hand, it would not be hard to find a sword to be justly swallowed. That leaves Jeff's prophecy – defying a god. Who do we know who has shown a sort of competition with and dislike of Slenderman the whole time? Oh, that's right. HABIT. HABIT!Jeff would then proceed to challenge Slenderman, and lose, dying.

It's a bit long, but this is the first theory involving HABIT!Jeff that I have felt completely confident in endorsing.

If you guys are right, and we sort of "guided" Vinnie right... I hope we can still safe Jeff. Even if it looks unlikely. Sad

MOAR FAN-INTERVENTION = MOAR AWESOME!!

We should try contacting Vinnie now.

....THIS. I never thought of that at all! That makes so much sense, even if I have no idea what the hell that means for the Trials. That is really possible... And the Annotations were worded in a way that it works as well.

I suppose that might be showing both possible outcomes?

Also, I wonder... since it was Easter, has Habit taken up crucifying things again? Maybe Vinnie should go to Baldpate and check out the tree. Shocked
Since the blood in the basement is pretty fresh (you can see it on Vin's fingers when he picks up the chain), Vinnie can still catch them in time.

(Looping around to another wild supposition... Odin was hung from the Yggdrasil for 9 days, with a wound in his side... eeeh, maybe too wild of a connection...)

Oh jesus what the fuck. Okay uh let's hope that particular idea isn't right.
EDIT: Also, yeah. I am starting to really think there is enough evidence to believe this is a case of reiterations, and something actually went right. I wonder if that means with Jeff, something went wrong? Did we miss a step somewhere?

I agree with this I said a few pages back we had to have missed something and that it may have caused Jeff's capture. I previously thought it was because we missed the Maryann angle, but a few people say they alerted the boys about her many times. Now I'm thinking we were supposed to warn them about the bloody hand in Twenty-Four months. But how? We couldn't really tell whose hand it was or where it was taking place. I don't know but it appears as if a lot of events in the Hidden Videos/Hidden Footage are starting to take place and that we can have an effect on the outcome.

The trials could have been a test to allow HABIT to get a feel for the boys and how they'd respond. Oooor HABIT could just really love torturing people. Or it could have been a way for HABIT to play with the boys...toying with them, a fun way for HABIT to occasionally give them information, playing them further into his game/trap.

Or "keep your bodies breathing" could refer to the bodies of the boys.

Continuing on my earlier theory, might the song choice last time then be directed to Evan? Maybe he got Steph out somehow. Saved her.

Quote:
I've got to hand it to you
You've played by all the same rules
It takes the truth to fool me
And now you've made me angry

It would explain this. But the main support for this idea lies in the next two:

Quote:
I can't decide
Whether you should live or die Evan, in this case. Especially if Jeff's an ideal shell
Oh, you'll probably go to heaven Evan's a good person
Please don't hang your head and cry
No wonder why
My heart feels dead inside
It's cold and hard and petrified Evan doesn't want to do any of this. InHABITed, killing Nick brought him to tears. If he was potentially also responsible for Lexi, or for Jessie, he would have gotten Steph out. He knew what he was doing, and he would have told the truth, getting her out of his reach. Fighting for both of them.
Lock the doors and close the blinds
We're going for a ride Evan and Jeff and HABIT. Torture and death. Fun times ahead

Then finally, he chooses to eventually kill Evan because

Quote:
I wont deny I'm gonna miss you when you're gone
Oh I could bury you alive
But you might crawl out with a knife
And kill me when I'm sleeping
That's why

I think this speaks for itself.

Thoughts, on either the original theory or this?

Another thing we should keep in mind is that the universe EMH takes place in is cyclical... until now. If it's true what you guys say, and our intervention can change things, then the prophecy should be breakable.

From all we know, the process described, which we consider as our possible endgame as of now, could easily only reset the EMH cycle, while what we need to do is find a way to defy the prophecy.

In other words: we should see if we're able to somehow break the spell that keeps the EMHsouls trapped in the candleverse.

I'm wondering if all of HABITs involvement, all his "elaborate" plans this time through have made it possible to break the cycle. Going back to the idea that he wants to do just that, and needs us to help him in some way, which is why he's giving us some information but not all? Just musing I guess.

For some reason I'm getting the feeling as though IG Vinny listens more to twitter messages than Youtube messages.

Question now is how to break the cycle?
