Edit: He did sound kinda resigned when he was talking about it, but that's kinda the way Alex sounds normally.

OH SHIT WHAT IF ALEX IS THE RAKE? THE RAKE IS WHAT BECAME OF ALEX AND WAS SENT BACK IN TIME TO WARN HIMSELF AND DO SLENDY/HABIT'S BIDDING IN A HORRIBLE CYCLE.

We might tell the guys to check Alex's room for the "crawspace" (Aw that makes me sad to say now. ;__;), just in case. Honestly, if it's there? when is the appropriate time to tell them to hole up in a bunker?

I'm aware that you're probably just throwin' stuff out there in a loose sense, but anyway I'm gonna note that if we were looking at this in literal terms, there are certain realities that ruin this theory like he wouldn't be just sans beard--the hair on his head would be gone,too--not to mention it wouldn't look so 'clean',it would be patchy.
Also--any dose of radiation to cause that kind of hair loss in one dose would not only leave him with severe radiation burns--it would likely kill him in short order.
With that in mind--it's my guess that the reason for Vinny's changed appearance is to demonstrate very clearly that there WAS a time skip/loss/wrinkle--whatever.The other things that point towards this can be noted in the time of day and where the sun's at,and the weather conditions.
When driving--it was fairly clear out with a slight haze and no evidence of precipitation.
When Vinny comes to--the windshield and other things are wet,as well as the ground being wet and big, noticeable puddles.
Not sure about the black gunk but as Slendy supposedly does emit SOME kind of radiation,I'm thinking it's a side effect of that, but don't know if it has a deeper significance.

I was quoting ObscureReference's joke.
Cheese: You're right... Rake could be in trouble? Hah. Perhaps HABIT has been convincing Slends to let him keep his pet to help do his bidding when Slends would rather not have it around?
Another thought. What if Rake told Alex this was going to happen, and Alex allowed it?

WHOOPS!So you were--I'm old and I sometimes miss some nuances--time for new glasses methinks. Wink
The rest of that post is still relevent though as far as evidence of time slippage.
@lunaticfish--I really wanna believe that that image of the 3 together is just innocent--but when seen in the context it was filmed in--it really makes me think that it's NOT.The images in the video were all pretty disturbing and suggestive of horrible things and that makes me think that the image of the 3 of them in that context is deliberate and speaks of something more subtle perhaps--but sinister,nonetheless....IMHO.

I'm not even going to try and find a way to explain how a human being turns into that of the Rake via traveling through time and space. Still, the fact that it could hunt these 4 down, even merely by coincidence of name and no linear/reincarnated implications, means it was probably human once and able to comprehend such matters. Though, none of the new Mining Town 4 are very Rake-like (yet).

Just as well, the one who seems to be more dream/vision-oriented and could be a candidate from subconsciously summoning a creature like this was- supposedly- just murdered. But it did talk to Alex, and tell him a lot of things that have come to pass. The fact that he didn't reveal anything to his fellow Hybrids? Coincidence, maybe. But Jeff, Vin, Evan, and Steph are Slendy's targets, not the Rakes, leading to Alex's... whatever just happened to him.

If I may present yet another hypothesis: perhaps none of the kids are next in line to disappear, and the Rake will be the next target?

Functional and possibly even legitimate? Very Happy I love being functional and possibly even legitimate.

And I like this tree. It makes sense.

Glad to hear it! Very Happy

And thanks, I'm trying to gather up all my mismatched sci-fi know-how and make sense of this crazy Slendy saga.

But now to go all nerdy: The radiation they refer to ("Sigma" radiation), isn't really accurate. Sigma (σ) is a constant for determining how fast particles move in a substance, so the radiation they're talking about it thermal. The reason that radiation detector Evan used to test their blood went off so erratically is because of the fast movement of particles- and that speed is most likely an indication of their recent time traveling. It could also be implied that Slendy's radiation is emitted so plentifully that the levels are similar to a black hole, once again solidifying the fact that he is indeed able to move so freely through space and time.

So, yes, I understand it was a joke with the beard falling off ('w') But the black goo probably isn't a cancerous side effect. I'd imagine it's just supernatural gunk or drying blood.

[EDIT: to address Lunatic] HABIT could be pulling Slendy's strings as well, but it seems to be that throughout this series, Slendy is rebelling against HABIT more and more (like how he fought off the Rake during the fight at Jessie's).

In the chart Jeff had tweeted, I believe the Rake was referred to as "feral"

I think he's just hard to control.

Oh yeah, baby, talk nerdy to me [/shot] That all makes so much more sense than it should.

In my mind, there is no way HABIT could control Slendy. Slendy is an Eldrich (sp?) Abomination, and we've seen his twitter posts with HABIT. They're definitely enemies. And inHABITed Evan talking across the table to invisiSlendy? It sounded like HABIT getting all puffed up and boasting about how he always got what he wanted, even though I'm sure it's horribly true.

This is a very interesting thought. Alex has never been in the same frame as the Rake. Even in the closet scene, before they chained it shut, they didn't actually see him there; the Hybrid team just heard the Rake. And you know how handy Alex is with that tape player/recorder.

Hahaha, maybe if you ask nicely ;P

Indeed, but pulling the strings doesn't always mean total control. It could simply be influence, or even pushing Slendy's hand on account of blackmail (aka stealing Slendy's satisfaction for getting the kids by [HABIT] killing them himself.)

3) Distortion, memory loss, physical/mental trauma are caused when the timelines intersect with each other. Slendy moves fluidly through them, but each individual timeline can't handle that shit, so it ends up like when you put two walkietalkies close together.
4) Slendy had to assert his power and authority, so he shaved off Cthulu to show how slenderific he is.
5) People bleed black when they are under Slendercontrol (this one is probably gonna be shot down fast)
6) Some shit went down that we don't know about and the black stuff is actually Slenderblood, and Slendy was standing in the background going "Bitch you made me bleed. Imma kill that irrelevent little fucker now, brb" and kills Alex and leaves the bag within a matter of seconds.
7) Vinnie is coughing up black shit because he's turning into a Slenderman.
They're all batshit insane and Vinnie actually did kill Alex.

So.....yeah, I'm just gonna leave these trees here *walks away quickly*

Oh, um. I actually meant theories on this spcific situation of Alex and Vinny in the car. Like, how would a time skip work in this situation. It made Vinny loose his beard and tie, but what does that mean? Slendy could've displaced Vin for a moment, but Vinny would've had to have gone back to the moment he was moved or there would've been two of him on seperate sides of town at once. Unless it was only his body that jumped, in which case, why would Slendy do that? If that's the case, how did that work for Vinny? Same time, younger body? What is the significance of this? How do you think a "time skip" works? (I realize most of that is incoherent ramblings, but that's a littl bit of the point.)

But I did enjoy reading those. In response to number 5, I think that one is actually shot. Sorry. But Vinny once threw up the gunk when Slenderman was in his basement, where there is no reason for Vinny to be under his control. Unless you think he was editing videos for Slendy? *Genuinely curious*

I was talking about Alex-Is-Rake theories you've implanted in my head. But you actually cleared up that Vin's Beard joke for me, so I should actually be thanking you. (Another joke I fail to deliver. I should just quit while I'm in last. Everything I touch dies.) (Also a joke. Seriously, I really need to stop.)

Should we push it past condolences? If we do, I would recommended on asking what we didn't see or what Vinny remembers that we might've missed. If they don't dodge the question.

In re: briecheese & the "Alex is the Rake" theory, it's an interesting idea, but how would you explain the shed incident, when The Rake used the dead Sparky puppet to lure Alex and Evan toward him?

Oh shit. I just realized The Rake used poor dead Sparky as a puppet. Like Alex's freaking Sparky sock puppet. *shudder*

Shocked This really isn't something I need to have floating around in my head right now D: D: D:

But in response to all, I meant that there could be a second Alex who actually time traveled and he is what we see and think of as the Rake. Maybe our Alex is gone because he's being Rake-ified and Slendy's gonna send him back to the beginning of the series.

Or he died and now his body is the Rake. Huh. All of that sounded much more........something in my head.

Edit: Dagnabit, Obscure, you beat me to it lol

Edit:Edit:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Damnit, now all I can see is a horribly funny and grotesque image of the Rake with its hand up dead Sparky's ass like a puppet. I feel like a horrible person

I forgot about that part. Probably because, unlike the other videos, we don't see any instance of the Rake, just Evan and a dead dog. I may have just omitted it because I don't trust Evan... like at all >_> Sorry, my bias is showing.

@Tijde: This is what I referring too though, with the Alex/Rake talk. I don't know about sending him back again though. That would just create an infinite loop of Alex's @_@
