But seriously, the phrase "thousand yard stare", which is the stock phrase I think they were shooting for, suggests blank, metaphorically dead eyes. Kind of like a camera lens, yes? Something that sees without displaying any sort of reaction.

Good point, but in context I think they may have been using the expression very loosely. After Jeff makes the "thousand mile stare" comment, Vince says "I say let 'em watch. If he wants to have his little game." At the very least, this exchange between the boys sets up some ambiguity over whether ProbablySlendy appears to zoned out or appears to be watching them.

Ha! I should've known this would happen when I put new batteries in my SpeculaTron. I'd be as surprised as anyone if it turns out to be true, but it does seem kind of elegant.

BTW, I was watching the Candleverse video again this morning, and it seemed more, I dunno, poignant than it had when it was released. Maybe because the strangeness of it isn't shocking anymore? Anyway, I noticed something that I don't remember being discussed before, but I could be forgetting: The way the boys talk to each other around the candle circle seems to suggest that they are not in frequent contact with each other there, that they gather together on occasion to share status reports and such rather than hanging out with each other all the time. No idea what that could mean, but it really jumped out at me on this viewing.

Yeah I noticed that myself. I'm not sure if I want to take it the way you said, like they aren't in contact much, or if it's just a different, more complicated relationship- for example if through these iterations, they have betrayed each other/killed each other/who knows. It's pretty somber.

EDIT: Just so I don't double post, I just had a thought. HABIT's rule for the Trials was "NO OUTSIDE HELP", right? Well in the video "OUTSIDE HELP", it occurs to me that the only way this title applies is in the fact that HABIT "helps" Evan kill Nick... So what if HABIT doesn't mean "don't get help from anyone", but rather "you wont get help from me"? He's never really offered help, but what if it has something to do with whatever he needs/wants from the rabbits/final rabbit? Grasping at nothing here, but it's still kind of an interesting possibility...

People, listen to yourselves. Slenderman has stood nearby and watched Vinnie countless times, without creating any goo.
Maybe it's slenderplasm, maybe it's time warp gunk (Slenderman like immigrant from future south park think), but this doesn't make any sense.

I think the more interesting point it presented was the idea of a "living camera", which is something that is a serious possibility as far as unexplained content. The idea that Vince or even Slenderman could be acting as this, unknowingly or not, does have a lot of merit.
You make a fine point about the black bile, though Mattwan did specify the idea of distortion due to a sort of feedback loop- i.e. they are looking at each other. This doesn't account for Ashen Waste- maybe something changed from then to now?

This is an interesting point. One thing I have to wonder is if this idea might connect to "-.-.". Remember how, during the Candle verse scenes, at one point the guys notice the "camera" and Vinnie actually interacts with it, pushing it away, calling it "one of those fucking things."

They don't sound like the "camera" in the Candle verse is Slenderman and I wouldn't expect it to be, but it might work into this "living camera" idea.
