Yep, placeholder text has been removed.

This can only be a positive as it represents progress.

Still waiting with baited breath.

You don't need the game to start playing.

continuing...

Yesterday I get this video in my FB feed:
http://youtu.be/whLJEKhdMfc

We are asked to LOOK UP. Reminds me of The Fool (Tarot) and Wile E. Coyote (remember The Institute).

This morning I hear a news clip on preventing blindness (clean your contacts).

Today for lunch, I decide to urban wander and look up, and I listen to Jeff Hull's TEDx talk on the way, but I have a destination: Duke's Grocery, which I read has great sandwiches.

On the way, I pass a house numbered 1723. In front is a car parked with the tag number 3721 (see my previous post).

I eat at Duke's for the first time. The Bansky(subject of the film "Exit through the gift shop")-like mural upstairs is huge, and is titled "A game of fools." The host tells me the brand of the place is to be "cheeky." The bagged chips that come with my burger are from Tayto Park, which sounds a lot like Fairyland (where Jeff used to work).

I take a different route back to my office. I pass a different house numbered 1723, but I can't find any clues connected. Further down the street, I pass the Prevention of Blindness society. I recall that my wife went to the eye doctor this morning for new contacts. I smile thinking about the theme of blindness prevention, looking up, seeing, seeking.

I then come across a church I have been to before, and walk the labyrinth again. Still listening to Jeff Hull, he mentions how the Jejune Institute (or Socio-reengineering) has a "cheeky" name. When I get to the middle of the labyrinth, his Ted talk ends.

From the middle of the labyrinth, I pay attention to where I am facing, but my line of sight is blocked by foliage. I am able to determine that I am facing a huge ornate building across the street, so I walk towards it.

I pass by an overgrown and locked entrance to the Dupont Underground, which opens up right at the building. There are no signs, so I have to walk to the front door, almost trespassing. The doormat indicates that the building is part of the Sulgrave Club, a mansion built in 1900 which became a club intended for music, art and social gatherings.

I come back to my office to type this.

To be continued...

yes. i was there at that screening. someone was indeed chosen.

At the end of the March 20th Designers + Geeks presentation Jeff Hull states that when the time is right you will be called upon. Then someone from the audience comes up and sits with the presenters on stage. "Ahh you've been called upon. Please join us." says Jeff.

If you want some insight, albeit vague and cryptic insight, watch the presentation vid.

That was an interesting video, but based on the comments from nonchalance, I get the impression that internet forums are probably the last place we're going to find information on a trailhead. At least on a practical level, it sounds like they just can't support a large number of people suddenly entering. I bet they'd make appropriate changes if any relevant information showed up on here. That's what I would do.

Traditionally, secret societies are...secret. I think it's not only reasonable, but probable, that this new life-adventure-game-tradition-society is going to take shape like an ever-evolving wave of being...

I think forums are a great place to discuss ideas and theories, but when it comes down to it - if I were invited into a secret society, I believe I would vanish from the forums, and disappear from all public sharing of knowledge...

UNLESS, of course, I was petitioned to insert myself into these public places, to spread mis-information - for the sake of the secrecy of said society... but really, what are the chances of THAT happening...

What is on the 23rd floor of 580 California?

In The Institute, the recorded voice during the induction states that the induction room is exactly 6 floors below the global headquarters. Does anyone know what is on the 23rd floor, where the statues are (ie. The Corporate Goddesses)?

One of the postcard clues even highlights the top floor (though we are probably meant to just consider the Goddesses): https://www.flickr.com/photos/everfalling/3406462528/in/set-72157616156748786

So, one challenge: find out what is on the 23rd Floor of 580 California St.

PS. I was driving into work this morning, and I saw a retail space for lease in Georgetown, and thought there should be a pop-up play area for adults. Then I thought of what Jeff Hull said could be one of the main obstacles of this type of play: liability (in his TEDx talk). At that very moment, when I thought of Jeff, a truck passed me with the tag # 1723 (read my previous posts to see why this is relevant).

23rd floor.

I confirmed that Oppenheimer takes up the entire 23rd floor of the building (the receptionist confirmed this). Now is this relevant?

http://www.opco.com/

I should have asked her how long they have been there. Maybe I will call her back later.

no. if you wanted to wade through the threads on this forum concerning the jejune institute (now archived) you'd see we tried a number of times to sneak onto the 23rd floor but never made it. regardless there was nothing of relevance up there. it was just another little detail in the fiction. It's especially not relevant because the Games of Nonchalance is over.

I spent some time Sunday wondering around Mission (Folsom to Dolores, 16th to 24th) and while it was a fun walk I did not come across anything that spoke to me as a clue.

I tried searching the thread but didn't find anything.

Why would one have to sneak onto the 23rd floor...can't you just go to the front desk on that floor? And how do we know nothing of relevance is up there, especially if we have never been?

And how do we know the Games are over (the Jejune part is)? Isn't another one supposed to be starting, and perhaps the film is part of it?

Everfalling: do you have a special connection to Nonchalance? if so, is it obvious/known to others in here, and/or are you willing to share/confirm now? (I know there may be value in the fourth wall being intact, especially in this medium; but are we supposed to know, or suspend our suspicions?)

In other words: are you out of the closet, were never in, or is this place don't ask, don't tell?

Watch the movie again, especially the part about the Seminar. That should help answer this question.

my previous link should clue you in to my involvement. I'm just a player like yourself. If you think the 23rd floor might be a lead in then by all means check it out but i'm not sure how much luck you'll have considering past events (security did not like us poking around up there and now, without the JI on the 16th floor, you're gonna have an even harder time poking around).

I am curious about the marketing campaign for the Latitude Society...

I'd like to imagine that this entire experience will be VERY different from the Jejune Institute...in fact, I am hopeful that it will not be a sequel, as much as it's own independent project/game/alt-reality...

From the little I've gathered through sources close to this project, I don't think this will be a mass-invite, mass-advertisement type of situation... it's seems as though the process will be a lot more intimate/involved/secret... So, my personal opinion is that you will not become a part of the Latitude Society by any of the following:

a) digging into the places and events tied to the Jejune Institute.
b) finding flyers posted all over public places.
c) locating advertisements on Craigslist.

Again - nothing but mildly informed opinion on my end... I don't have any constructive advice on how to get "IN" on the Latitude Society at this point.

Agreed. I've been lurking on this for some time now, though living no where near Cali I think might hinder my level of participation if I can even find said "In".

Fingers crossed for something in Orlando maybe? Don't really go there much though... wouldn't even know where to begin searching there.
