Alex's Bad Acting not actually bad... theory

This is a Theory of mine, and I don't know if other people have thought about it, but I've noticed there has been a lot of comments about how Alex has really bad acting. seeing as we've seen Alex is CLEARLY extremely screwed up somehow (whether a thrall of Operator, or just insane)... what if it "isn't" bad acting? what if it's just... whatever happened to him, it's induced over-dramatism, or something?

The Operator: side effects may include, nausea, memory loss, and PERMANENT VOCAL CAPS LOCK.

I don't think his acting is bad at all.

It's not out of the question that a guy who fed all of his friends to a snazzily-dressed abomination would be grumpy a lot.

I agree, I don't think his acting is bad. I've said it before, but I see much worse acting in many major TV shows. I defy anyone to watch the gun-pointy scene in entry #52 and say he can't act. (IMO, that entry is one of the best acted in the entire series, on the part of everyone involved.)

I always though the ragey-ness of Alex that we see as the series progresses was meant to be a result of his Slender-contact. Jay himself says that he'd never seen Alex act that way before in the entry when he shouts at the cast. It's not particularly over-dramatic, given the circumstances (tall faceless paranormal being stalking you constantly and making people disappear. Anyone would get a little dramatic in that situation...)

The introduction to the entire series mentions unusual changes in his behavior. Everyone who acts in MH acts like a real person, which is exactly what the style calls for.

There are a few times where it sounds like he's stumbling over dialogue.

Actually, for some of them, in light of what we saw in 40-42, it kinda struck me that maybe he's being operated like a puppet. That would explain his strange, stilted behavior.

Tharol, sometimes you posts seem almost intentionally unhelpful.

Apparently he can understand English and yet he cannot complete a coherent sentence.

Troy and Joseph have made some scenes in the series that are among the best acting in an internet series I've ever seen, except for maybe like Rooster Teeth.

Early parts in the series (e.g. Entry #9) had some shaky acting, but I don't think they had done a whole lot prior to that. As the series continues, and they do other things like THAC, their acting skills get better and better. (Only Tim can be such a stellar grapefruit.)

Oh, and I don't know exactly whether or not it was intentional or an editing error, but in #47, when Alex goes "Okay, you listen to me", there's some kind of distortion that sounds like a dramatic music queue. Every time I hear that, I have an internet-related orgasm.

His acting is absolutely fine. I don't know why some of you guys say it is BAD. It's not bad, it's not perfect, it's just fine. I never had a problem with his acting at all.

I actually thought his acting was great in Entry #9; he comes off as a huge dick and I'm pretty sure that was what they were going for.

I meant the entry in general. Tim felt like he was just riffing, and Sarah was pretty meh.

Then there's the infamous "YOU BROUGHT YOUR DOG?" line.
