booba!

I was just about to quit - but I see now that I'm actually on the right track!! Way behind you - but used warpoet for the key and had the my figured out and then a little jibberish. Now I'm gonna skip to the part where you left off.

By the time I post this you'll probably already have it solved but....I'm gonna try to finish it on my own anyhow.

Thanks for posting that!

Whoo! I'm just going to cheer from the sidelines, because this is a bit heavy for my first puzzle, and I have work today and tomorrow, and by Saturday, you guys'll probably have it figured out. >.>

So, I was actually on the right track. I had figured that warpoet was the keyword, but hadn't gotten everything broken down correctly yet.

Thanks for the leg-up r.m.

Decoded message

Edited to include the 1st paragraph too.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
My husband was tortured and killed through MergX testing. I used to help them. I realized the truth.
MergX holds a history of death. Sick experiments have lasted decades and it looks like they're starting again.
I barely had time to send this to you. Help me get what I need from them. Are you willing?

It was all obvious once I had the right key (thanks booba!). Look above for the complete decryption in my previous post.

I can't figure what I'm entering wrong. For instance for mergx - the closest I can get is mexzgx using 15 7 2 6 19 5 - which gets me lt yu hv. This happened to me all the way through with partial words.

Did you translate J to I when you deciphered?

So much for finishing it on my own. Razz

Oh well, thanks GuestUser17 and booba. Maybe my brain cells will come in handy later.

Yes I translated I to J but I still had a couple letters that were off so I guessed. Smile If you want to see what it looks like you can always take those phrases and encrypt them to get the letters and then convert those to numbers. Playfair works off pairs of letters so it's hard to say exactly what you would use to get MergX but it should look like - 'ltahv b' or 15 7 26 19 5 25. The vb (19 5) combination gives you the xt when decoded - the last letter of MergX and the first of testing.

Glad to hear you guessed when it was close. That makes me feel a little better. I did do the reverse encoding of the correct translation just to compare. For and the encoding resulted in rm bz. The closest I could get to this with the numbers was rm zu, which got me anyz. So it's not an exact science - at least not when I do it.

Also - I'm wondering if this is connected to Resident Evil since we have the Xbox icon at Trilon and the evil pharmaceutical company thing going on.

I hope it's not connected to X-Box stuff. I don't own one...

Indeed!

Just to see if I'd get a response, I emailed Genesis to tell her(him?) I'd help out. And as it so happens I got a response!

It has another coded message in it, but I can't copy/paste on my phone so I will have to put it up tonight. Sorry!
