About to play this for the first time. Eager to see how the story plays out.

Edit: Just got to the 3rd level, and actually only quit because I got stuck. This game has some killer pacing, though. It's not all sudden scares all the time. There's a really tremendous sense of place, too. The environments and their relationship with one another is well contextualized. I know the first game got a really bad reputation, but you guys really need to check this out. This is a really well made game and the developers need to be supported for this effort.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Also, if anyone can give me a hint as to what i'm supposed to do in the mine, I'm all ears. I realize I need to use the lift, but can't quite figure out how.

The only reason it got a bad rep was because of the complete retardedness of 90% of the playerbase. The game itself was greatly loved by all, just less started playing it after those who played it were pre-conceived as stupid.

Speaking of stupid, I still can't beat the 8 pages part... I've tried pre scouting out the map, just ramboing through the woods, I've tried using the LoS mechanic to keep him at bay, I've tried just not looking at him whimpering like a little girl. 7 pages 5 times in a row... Any tips?

Just completed it and, wow, it was brilliant. Never before have I played such a sweat-inducing horror. Beautiful visuals, fantastic sound work and a fascinating story to keep you going. When I feel up to it, I will play it again, this time in the search for the collectables. My one complaint would that it could have pushed the story in to the limelight a little more, instead of being more of an optional thing.

Really? All I have ever heard is praise about the first game, I though it had a near spotless reputation!

You have to use six generators around the facility. Be careful though, like The Eight Pages, its not as simply as it sounds . . .

I never actually got all 8 pages until playing The Arrival's full release. The key for me is turning your brightness up and turning your flashlight off. Almost every point of interest has a light source you can see from a distance. The only time you might need it is in the building. But having your light off can easily make the difference between a close encounter and death. Make a circle along the perimeter and work your way in. Try to find the building early, as it's an easy spot to get trapped.

I've got the problem where every time I find 5 of the 6 generators and Eyelessjack/The Proxy, just takes my butt out and gives me to Slendy. This is the most lovingly frustrating game I have ever played....just behind the 8 pages.

I'm not too sure that Eyeless Jack is the proxy.

I'm not too sure either, thus the slash that I put there. I can't get past this point in the game and I haven't watched any of the live streams so I'm not sure what is to come later on. As I said, I'm having a ton of difficulty with it.

Alright I'll have to give that a shot when I get home. Though, I've always used the building as a way to get a breather from slendy. Don't think I've ever gotten caught in there. I usually get screwed over in the field.
