 		Hmmm. I think the birthdays are significant.
First is the older brother's birthday, and then the younger's.
The older brother disappears first, then Nick.
Both birthdays are very close together.

I note that, in the illustrations in the book, is a picture of candle.
You do notice that the shadow person is very visible at each birthday...(cake with candles) and when there are nightlights, flashlights, etc. Single lights in the darkness.

Maybe shadowguy is drawn to the light for some reason... wild hypothesis here, but maybe that's why we saw the floating lights in the forest. Maybe the "cultists" (if there actually are any) are actually keeping the creature contained, and Nick and his friend stumble upon this and accidently catch it's attention. Maybe the reason they (mysterious car/cultists) flashed the headlights right into the living room was to draw it back somehow.

Also, doesn't the latin in the book say "The book of sacrifice?"

This one may just be a tree or some foliage, I can't make it out as anything.

If you're referring to "sacrificium est opus", that translates as "sacrifice is work" or "sacrifice is a creative work"

opus generally means a creative work, a short story. "liber" is a word much closer to our understanding of book.

oculus obviously means eye which makes total sense.

Another thing I just noticed from the book. "They see everything"

Sounds like we're dealing with more than one...

They have a trailer up for when they were hypin the series.

I believe that's the same masked man we've been seeing. It just looks lighter because of the flashlight.

 		At first I also thought the white/grey thing was the hoodie guy, but the more I watch it the more strange it seems, I cant put my finger on it but I just am not feeling the hooded guy being the so called "monster" or whatever you want to call it. I just keep thinking back to that bridge encounter and I cant see that being a guy in a hoodie darting across the underside of the bridge. I may be completely wrong though so who knows. And holy eff I want this to be a mothman vlog that would rule.

EDIT: Looks like no more lurking in shadows. Now the antagonists lurk in shadows, lure away, and break into houses.
