 		Dunno...in that video they sent Nick, there's probably six or seven, but I think there's more. Its hard to tell because they all look the same.

These cultists need a makeover. They should ask Trender Man for advice.

I think white hooded dude is linked to all the ghosty shit that went down in season 1, hopefully we get some more of that paranormal stuff in this season.

I marathoned this series over New Year's and what a way to start off 2014 with a BANG!Thank you,McGregor,for posting this originally and I am grateful to the mods that left this here even though it's not Slendy-related,which is fine by me.If this wasn't here,I may very well have missed out on one of the best horror experiences of my life! Twisted Evil

I also agree with everyone who feels this series does not get anywhere NEAR the attention/love/praise it DESERVES!!I have followed Slendy series and other mythos mixed in,and been very into the plots/storylines and occasionally freaked out for a bit or squicked for a moment or two.

But JustAquaintances is the only series that had/has me genuinely uncomfortable and SCARED.Like--FOR REAL.I cannot possibly heap enough praise upon this series and it's creators/actors/filmers,etc.As others have noted before me,I absolutely concur on all counts that these folks know what the Hell they are doing and do it seamlessly.

I also appreciate the screen shots and dumps because some scares/sightings might be missed if others were not so astute at seeing/capturing those glorious moments.I also immensely enjoy the family relations/moments.They add depth,credibility and a certain amount of humanity to the series and events,which serves to make it all the more sympathetic/empathetic and horrifying that these events have taken place.

These folks know how to tell a tale!I am also highly impressed with the editing and the lengths that they go to in adding credible 'touches' (news reports,storms,police presence,etc.)Don't know how they pulled it all off--doesn't really matter because I am ALL IN,BABY!

Some have made observations about "David's" acting.To me,with the quality of this series,it was quite clear that he was not a poor actor and that,as a couple others have noted (and I concur),he is not "quite right".The acting is not "off" or "poor",it's spot-on for what I imagine to be going on.

I have a couple theories:He is possessed (in my mind I dubbed him "Children of the Corn" LOL or he is dead/undead and perhaps partially or totally a "husk" or "vessel".I am not quite certain,but I DO know that his acting is precisely as it should be


I probably have more to say that I am forgetting,but this is long enough for now,so all I will say is that I am thrilled to have stumbled-upon this and have praised it/recommended it to all I know.I read along with this thread while watching,so I am caught up and was glad to be able to gorge myself on it without having to wait,but now I wait like everyone else who is dying for the next most righteous and awesome JA fix!!!

If it was moved to a different Unfiction forum (like News&Rumors), it might get more popularity; because I noted that topics get more replies there.

The question is...why isn't this getting popular? I mean, a series like this would seriously attract a lot of paranormal junkies. Maybe there's something wrong with the way they write their tags or marketing skills.

 		I don't know... it probably would get a few new viewers if it was moved to "News and Rumors". It might get ignored pretty quickly too, since it's not an ARG. I really think it needs more exposure, somehow. They could make a Reddit thread in one of the "videos" or "paranormal" subreddits.

I really am surprised that this isn't watched more on Youtube. If they called it something like "REAL!GHOSTS!SCARY!PARANORMAL!FOOTAGE!" they probably would have a million hits... Laughing

Anyway, I agree with you, Amrith... although there are some minor flaws, it largely is an excellent series. The addition of family scenes add believability and sympathy. The scares are subtle and very well done.

I don't do Reddit, but are you allowed to make a thread for a paranormal series that isn't yours? We could try that out--these guys totally deserve it.

I agree that moving this at this point in time may get it more love/attention.While I am grateful it was here for me to discover,I am aware that it's been here for a while and other people have randomly discovered it here like me,it may get more noticed elsewhere.

I have been a member of Unfiction 3 years this month,but I have strictly posted in Slender Man related threads,only (with the exception of "Whispered Faith" which features a Rake-like creature).I am aware that there are other forums on Unfiction,but never venture beyond here and the MH thread.

I know JustAquaintances are quite proactive in marketing themselves,and even have Season 1 & 2 trailers for their series.The title of their series makes perfect sense once you start watching the videos,but it in and of itself does not give any real clue as to what mythos subject it deals with.I started watching it because I was jonesing for a horror fix and noted how many pages the topic had and that and the screen shot in the second post was enough to draw me in.

I am a Redditor,but only to lurk or comment.I do not post topics.However,I do believe that anyone is allowed to create a subreddit (I could be wrong,though).Reddit is very hit and miss though.I didn't even know there was an MH subreddit there until recently,and even as big as MH is and well-known,the thread has very few active participants.

I don't know what the answer is,I just know that this series is top-notch and they shoot in 1080p with pro equipment and I am totally hooked. Cool

 		Well it looks like Nick did EVERYTHING wrong really.

Not only did he not come with the book, but he came armed AND late. If you recall the video started at 9:04pm and that was BEFORE the trek to the house.


Apologies for the following rant, I am trying to write this down as objectively as possible - though I've a feeling I will indeed slip up.

So in general I am quite enjoying the series thus far, though one thing keeps it from being great for me - it's the cultists. Through all the found footage\Slenderman\horror series I have had the pleasure of viewing I tend to get ever so slightly disinterested when cultists are involved.

They're always the same; masked individuals targeting our protagonists for something they are and\or have. Who send proxy-styled videos to force said protagonist's hand one way or another. We watch on and witness their inevitable misdeeds upon our main character/s as they fall into webs of deceit and sometimes predictable traps.

Don't get me wrong, within the context of JustAcquaintances this is fine. But when compared to other series it is somewhat of a stale trope. It also distracts from what would have undoubtedly drawn people into such a series in the first place - that being the unknown antagonist.

As with anything within the horror genre, that which attracts us (the fans) is the fear of the unknown. The horror lies in that which we don't know or understand. More importantly it's in that which we don't expect.

Now, when you plant a a cult as an antagonist you're suddenly in the known world. Yes, this group of generally human bad guys might have unknown motives or goals, but their actions are almost always the same. They creep around, sometime staying hidden and other times outright assaulting characters.

Again, within the world of JustAcquaintances this works because the writing is good enough that a clear empathy for our protagonist is established in the build up.

But I digress. I think what I'm trying to get at here is I hope that the cultist stuff wraps up soon and the paranormal stuff comes back BIG. I realise ( yes, I used an S - Australian, get over it Razz ) that all of the thoughts above appears a little... well schizophrenic. I'm just trying to make it clear that I do indeed see both sides and can well see past the negative aspects enough to continue happily watching this series.

I suppose this is just a long-winded way of saying "I want more of the horror stuff!"In particular, I want to see more of the strange creature which was in the rafters at the start of the series. I want to feel scared again, rather than ache for the strife the characters face.

So other than that ( tiny Rolling Eyes ) niggle. I don't think I could say anything else too scathing about this series. Will see it through to the end.

Addendum:
I think I may have gained more respect for JustAcquaintances during the typing of all of this.

Is it just me or did he technically have more leverage than the cultists? In that situation if he was thinking rationally all he would have to do is pop his knife out and declare that they were playing by "his rules" and that the book was not on his person, and its location would die with him in the event they decided just to end him there. Instead he popped it out, then ran like a little bitch, then saw headlights and ran the opposite direction like a little bitch right back to the cultist he was running from in the first place. Running was like an admission of guilt instead of standing up and going down fighting, right when he took off the cultists knew SOMETHING was up, but he didn't really tell them what it was so they probably would have just offed him for being insolent.

But, who is the person who's running at Nick right at the end? It can't be his brother right? Hell, maybe it's the paranormal expert. Guess we'll have to see.
