Laughing Potato. I guess the errors etc explain the somewhat lacklustre attitude here now. Pity, the game had a lot going for it. The PMs will have to pull something good out of the bag and soon.

Folks when "Certain" companies are watching their bottom line, they just hope the word on "said product" gets out in mass media. They are not concerned with quality of experience..its about quantity.

If you read up on Bees or partook in the event.. then everything that comes after is going to be subpar. That was a story in itself.

And while "maybe' this particular Transmedia company is new to the game or working under a budget, it all comes down to the same end. "Big daddy" paid a contractor to do a job, they decided to go to a supar place and probably pay a subpar amount, hence your screenshots.

They know they can pick up the game, make things better and get people more involved, we have marketing lurkers here, but will they? is to be seen. I think we can all smell the meat and potatoes but they have not really invited us to dinner.

Cross your fingers and lurk on Wink

I like this quote and yeah, I agree with that, it's just that they've been extra sloppy with this. They should've revised this site way before allowing the public to see it, they should've removed the dummy text that was still floating on some places, they should've planned the game to unlock at certain parts at a good ratio, and I'm saying this as someone who works for a web design company, you can't present a product like this to a huge audience like the one participating on this, the errors become more apparent.

Then again, most people just see the unlocked pictures and leave it at that, they probably don't know anything we've done so far...

Dark spheres in bg video

Hello.
Still not seeing the blue flashing in the background for the spheres video but have had a look to see if the dark spheres on the left move together relative to each other. Frames 60, 244 and 335 overlaid and highlighted (cropped).
There is a little drift but the pattern looks familiar.

You know, honestly, I think we need to take a step back and maybe a breather. We have a good catalog of things collected and observed, but at this point I think we're starting to get lost in the minutiae, unable to see the forest from the trees and whatnot.

Yeah - it seems pretty sloppy. The problem is that most of us here want to use our brains. Subject us to some challenging puzzles that lead to solutions that weave us through an immersive storyline that has some connection to the movie. And show us that you have put at least half the thought into creating your viral campaign that we are willing to invest into participating in it.

Of course we are a weird and wonderful group of people that might go overboard at times in looking for hidden messages and the like. This link that catherwood posted in another forum hits hilariously (and somewhat painfully) close to home for me.

http://wondermark.com/813/ (There are 4 parts to it – so be sure to hit the next button.)

Thanks for the link catherwood and to David Malki ! for creating it – I love it!

Too true- it's only tic tacs!

But having said that-

I'm still looking, might as well. So-in picture #2- Prometheus outward bound I think- I see one bit of color. It is a red light that is in the shape of a star on the ship. It stands out to me, like the Morse GIF does - but because of shape and color not because it's changing.

So maybe a red star related URL name ending?

Gliese 581 is a red dwarf star. I think someone may have already mentioned that Gliese 581c is one of the planets that A Message From Earth was sent to. The message will arrive in 2029.

It might be the red light connected to the ship from the third picture...
But you're right, it does stand out.

This is genius, man, I laughed so hard at this. It really hit close to home for me as well, I'm guilty of overthinking all of this, just to have a couple of pretty pictures unlocked in the end. After all, yeah, this is just "a movie", but ARGs manage to bring the crazy, paranoid and speculative side of some of us.

What Everex said above is correct, we need to step back and analyze what we've gathered so far. Thankfully we have a wiki now (let's reiterate it: http://bigthingshavesmallbeginnings.wikispaces.com), to which we should all contribute.

I know this might not be exclusive to the ARG but the movie as a whole, but I feel like we should add some sections related to the huge investigation we've made, cross-referencing myths and stories related to this film that could help us solve this puzzle. Since I proposed it I'm going to do it, I'll create a portal called Speculation, and I'll put there everything we know, since Betty & Barney Hill's abduction (the star map) to tidbits of Sumerian mythology, as well as elements related to the Prometheus myth and its relevance in other cultures. The best part of this is that we might know already what the movie is actually about even before seeing it Very Happy

Me too - that's why I laughed so hard when I read that comic.

I've downloaded a Joseph Campbell book on comparative mythology, tried to convert the flag patterns on the timeline to a binary format, studied the elements involved in the transformation stages of alchemy, and a few of the things others have mentioned here.

I haven't found anything worth posting about and - considering the current state of flux in the Weyland website - I figured it was time to slow down a bit. But I am still looking.

Yes, you guys are amazing in your research skills! Kind of fun how this connects to real history and science a bit too.

About the red star stuff-looks like Gliese 581c doesn't do it in the Weyland or PP URL. And I think it is a ship light- but I'm thinking of it as a symbol. Unless there is something weird about the image itself, and the red is x marks the spot.

Ill state it again, I think we're getting lost in minutiae and details. I think the game makers here are using broader strokes here. When we found the site for project Prometheus, it was a simple link in the timeline. When we figured out the passwords for 245409 and Eridu we used the clues hidden in front of our faces. While I think the idea of a game based on star charts, mythology, and the atomic mass of elements is exactly the one I want to play, the game makers thus far have not been that cryptic and detailed. While it is entirely possible that they will get harder with their puzzles in the near future, I doubt it will be in the direction of matching up star charts with floating bubbles scrolling across the background, or Morse code from blinking gifs. The theme we seem to be working with here is obvious things hidden in plain sight. This is a game of Gotchas. I mean the password for the Eridu site was the name of the same city for crying out loud!

We need to do a tactical retreat, take a step back and look at the site, and see what we are missing.

Edit: Honestly the first thing we should probably do us confirm OOG elements such as: the Prometheus UK twitter account. With the right question to the twitter account we know to be IG, we can confirm this without the game makers having to go meta. Eridu was given to us by a clue from the game makers after we asked a question, there's no reason that they shouldn't answer another question.

Its really possible we got things out of order from what they had conceived.. Like we found clue #5 before we found clue #3 and it fucked up everything they had planned and they are busy trying to salvage it..??!@&*%*

Yea, I know.. yada yada///

Gotta say tho, for a film with this kind of appeal and knowing the value of these kinds of virals for blockbuster films, It is very disappointing. They waited until late to bring this on and this got us all riled up for a fast paced intelligently conceived and executed adventure..and after days of mensa menageries, we got two promo pics from a mission that hasnt happened yet..

At least JJ gave us t shirts and Rocket Pops!

I always try and put myself in the mind of those tasked with creating these sagas.. Its encouraging to know that if I lose my job, there is one waiting for me....<S>

Back the background, on the Investor page...

Hey again...

So, I think the background sequence with the spheres on the Investors page has a morse signal in it too, as some have already speculated.

Not sure if everyone can see it depending on your screen and/or browser, but over on the left side of the screen just above the middle of the window there's a faint blue flashing light (that it looks like extends out like a horizon across the background as well actually) and it seems as though the morse/flashing sequence starts over when the 'glitch' happens, restarting the spheres.

I can't read morse code, but whoever worked that out last time... can you take a look?

Also, the star pattern is in the background in the middle of the same page moving left to right as dark smaller spheres way in the back, as someone else pointed out. I just wanted to mention that I noticed that as well to second the notion.
