there's symbols found the weyland financial highlights footer, seen in the equalised image.

at first it appears to be morse but despite being spaced on the grid, it's incoherent.

what appears to be:
. .-.. .-.. .-.. .- . .. .. .-.. .-.. .
. .-.. .-.. .-.. .-

is loosely translated (depending on interpretation) to something like:
line 1: ELLLAEIILL.
line 2: .LLLA

upon closer inspection, the dits and dahs also have different symbols within them as seen in the second attachment.

edited to add:
this could be artifacting from the gridlines, but noting differences just in case it may be significant.

I got

Quote:
ELLLAEIILEIELLLW

Which is very similar to what blackfeathers got. It looks very suspicious though, the blocks have a very defined width, so it's hard to mistake them as something else.

Seeing this really reminds me of the Arecibo message somehow.

Maybe it's not MORSE code, maybe it's a music partition

mac preview can be a bit wonky, so here's the footer again.

on a different machine, i took the previously equalised financial highlights jpeg, cropped it and saved it without any compression.

edited to add:
did the same thing for the resource key - equalised and cropped without any extra compression.

note the lighted pixels above each resource symbol where the numbers are. are these merely artifacts of jpeg compression, or intentional? highlighted pixels are seen throughout the 'invest in your future' jpeg.

recap:
1. sphere images in jpegs: indicate what level to uncover more stuff?

2. C, Co, Cu highlighted in resource key

3. financial highlights footer dots and dashes

re-did the contrast & brightness to look at the highlighted pixels in more detail(attached image).

[speculation]

unlike all other elements, all three highlighted resources C, Co, & Cu have some various coloured pixels in the letters.

C: 4 coloured pixels
Co: 8 on 'C', 5 on 'o'
Cu: 5 on 'C', 0 on 'u'

they also have these coloured pixels above them, where the numbers are found. this area above the resource symbols contain at least one white pixel.

above C: 1 white pixel + 5 various colours (navy dark blue is almost hard to see)
above Co: 1 white pixel + 5 various colours
above Cu: 3 white pixels, 1 aqua green

Well, I opened with GIMP and checked the colors. C, Co and Cu are the only letters in white (or close to it, FFEEFF), while the others have varying degrees of blue and gray, cleverly concealed through visual deceit.

[speculation]
i put this post all under speculation...

could the resource key be giving instructions on what to do? (see attachment)

from left to right: 'primary resource' -> vertical line (representing other jpeg), underscore representing the footer at the bottom of other jpeg -> dots representing a message.
perhaps we are to apply the 'key' below to decipher a message in the footer?

playing around with the brightness & contrast of both the resource key and the footer makes it start to look like the arecibo message, as mr_white has mentioned.

footer: to the right of the middle sphere, where the morse ends, you get to see a bunch of 'arecibo'-like dots that vary on contrast, brightness & other levels. (see attachment). you'll need to zoom into this one to see the minutiae.

obviously both jpegs will vary when you play around with the levels of each. so, it's all in speculation on my part.

Good stuff.

Perhaps something to keep in mind: if this 'code' string is supposed to be related to the Aricebo message at all, it should perhaps be turned vertically (assuming they imitated the 73-row, 23-column rectangular format).

Even so, I can't make anything of it yet but it's an interesting find to be sure.

If it's Binary Code...

Here is that image counted as binary code as best as i could:

The binary works out to (i think) :
1001011010100101101010010110101001011000100101001010010110101001010000100110010110101001011010100101101010010111

Which, when i converted it to text on an online binary converter thing, it read:
–¥©jX”¥©Be©jZ—

This does weird stuff when i post here, so the numbers that show up are:
8211 165 169 8221 165 169 169 8212

So...
Nothing really, but just more numbers. Sad

Voyager?

Well- from left field. @PrometheusUK retweeted a Nasa Voyager 2 tweet saying the distance that Voyager 1 now is from earth. Looking at the website for Voyager, I see a description of the disc that was recorded with contact info for any aliens that might find it. On the disc are greetings, : " beginning with Akkadian, which was spoken in Sumer"

This is Voyager's site: http://voyager.jpl.nasa.gov/spacecraft/goldenrec.html

Now, I don't see how we would have gotten that from other info so far, so maybe it's just the UK account blathering. But maybe the tweets about edge of space and Sputnik and great 20th century achievements were meant to go there.
