Just a thought as I am waiting to hear back from ETQ for signing up.
Instead of a chessboard on the front page, could it be a chaturanga board?

Learning Games Inc. is a real company started in 1970. Some of their early products included chess pieces and boards.

Yeah, I was thinking about that too since we found Emily blog.

Well although yes, it seems to be chaturanga, I still feel this has to still do with Senet as this is what is posted on lvl one: (Sorry if I'm trouting, but this is the first time I've been back on) 3.Compile a history of the game, information about the game, and a list of rules and how to play. This can be a collaborative effort or completed by one player. How you go about this is up to you. Email the link to the above email address.

Squares and actions:
1. Move forward one square
2. Move two squares to the right
3. Move to square #13
4. Move forward three spaces and down one to #14
5. Pharaoh's Blessing: Move four squares ahead to #9
6. Move to square #15
7. Move forward two squares
8.
9.
10. Lose one turn.
11.
12.Move forward four spaces
13.You lose a turn and can't believe it, so you lose another turn for being in deNile.
14. If a player lands on this square it changes all other squares to the opposite action. This remains in effect until another player reaches this square.
15. Your piece is safe from attack and cannot be bumped from this square
16.
17. If a piece lands on this square it jumps forward two spaces
18.
19. Move forward two spaces
20. If you land on this space you get an extra turn
21.QUICKSAND (you can only move your piece out of this square if you roll a 2, 3, or 5)
22.
23.
24.
25. Move back to square #16
26. Move your piece to the end and off the board
27. If you land on this square you "drown" and must move your piece back to square #1
28. Tell the truth or lose the game
29. .
30. You have successfully reached the last square. Move your piece off the board!

SO>>> Seems to me we are missing some numbers? So in order to finish this level we need to fill out the rest and answer the questions??

I sent this question to ETQ:
Considering your ChessMaster game from the early 70s, are you planning on having the band Reversatile do the music on the Oliver and Amalie game? It would be very meta.

Got this response:
I like the way you think.

Ha. Drake, that's pretty cool!

As for the stuff we need:

History: I see no real reason to deviate from the history described on Wikipedia, unless someone has a burning desire to create their own fantasy world for this, which I'd be totally fine with.

Information: I'm not totally sure what this is asking for. I feel like the Wikipedia page might pretty much answer this, too.

Rules: Since we already have the board and the actions, we can't significantly change the game. But there are many different possible rulesets that we can choose from, because no one knows which one is right. For example, I saw one page that mentioned defended/undefended pieces and that you couldn't land one of your pieces on a defended piece to knock it off. We could go with that, or we could go with something totally new. For example, maybe if you land one of your pieces on an enemies piece, you each have to roll a d6 (or something else). If the attacker rolls a lower number, they stay where they were (or get knocked off). If the defender rolls the lower number, they get knocked off and the attacker takes their place. If the defending piece is surrounded by other pieces, that could affect the rolls. Like a blue piece attacking a green piece that is surrounded by two other green pieces and one blue piece would get to roll twice and the rolls would be added, but the defending green piece would get to roll 3 times (its roll + 2 surrounding pieces). I don't know. Just a thought.

I'm a little wary to make up a ton of new stuff, partly because the site never explicitly says that we can. Reading the instructions, I definitely see how this interpretation could arise ("How you go about this is up to you."). But maybe we should check with them to make sure before we make up a bunch of stuff.

EDIT: Aaaaand I just got an email from them, subject "a little word game for you...":

I like your solution. I had something similar but I was
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
going by the letter in the listed position

so mine wasn't making sense.

What is the significance of the blue words?
Do we think we need to get the message to Emily?

This has been bugging me for awhile. Why is the 29th tile just a "."?

I'm pretty sure someone just made an error. It would probably be fixed if anyone chose 29 and gave it some action.

I really like Billhouse's solution to the puzzle. I hope we see more puzzles like that. Are we supposed to tell someone that solution? The only email address we have is the info one...

Since no one seems very interested in coming up with new rules, do we want to just email something like this page: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_do_you_play_Senet ?

We'd just have to modify it slightly to fit with the actions currently on the board.

Something that goes with my earlier possible solution.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
My earlier guess: The first piece is in Istanbul. The blog talked alot about chess. So I thought I'd check that out and found that the 2012 World Chess Olympiad is in Istanbul.

I dunno. Makes me hope this is the start of a viral for a Knight Moves reboot. I'm in as long as Christopher Lambert gets a cameo.
