It says it's sold by a third-party seller... "Hook ME Up Storefront," to be exact.

I think the game was about $80 back when it came out. But they seriously went overboard with the marketing, since every copy of the game included an official player's guide and a ton of swag, including scratch-and-sniff character cards.

Funny, because I found out about Marble Hornets through Starmen.net, the EarthBound fansite.

you don't know how curious I am now to know what the characters smelled like...

As a side note you can just get an emulated version to play really old games like that.

@Grumplestiltskin: http://starmen.net/merchandise/misc/scratchnsniff.php

Incidentally, Carbon Dog literally smelled like burning.

Why is Alex's last name revealed but Jay and Tim's kept secret?

Probably because at the start of the series, Jay was documenting what happened to Alex's film and didn't think revealing his full name was a problem- didn't mention his own or anyone else's because it wasn't relevant. Then once he realized what a mess he was actually getting into, he decided not to reveal any more names and locations, etc., but Alex's name was already out there and nothing could be done about that.

What Joker said, but also for an OOG reason, is my guess...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Not really sure this needs to be spoilered, since I'm sure it's been discussed here; I just haven't seen it: "Kralie" anagrams to "ark lie," which I'm having a hard time believing is a coincidence...

Interesting, but a couple of problems:

1. Alex's name was given in the very first episode. They didn't really plan out most of the series until late in Season 1, so I doubt they'd thought that far ahead, especially seeing as...

2. Troy has said ToTheArk was a character he came up with on the spot mere hours before he made the first TTA video, not a part of his original plan for the series at all. If he didn't have the idea of TTA until several videos after he gave Alex's name, I doubt he'd already decided on the existence of the "Ark" at the time.

I'm not sure that this follows by necessity. He could have had the idea of the 'ark,' (as the magical item/person who might defeat TO) in whatever form he'd come up with, and still not have had the character of tta or the idea that tta would post responses, but you might be right.

For whatever it's worth, searching for "Kralie" as a surname mostly pulls up MH references, and for genealogical links gets an Austrian name that is mostly spelled "Kralich" and mis-transcribed the half dozen times it occurs at Ellis Island. I think the spelling of it was deliberate on Troy's part...

Fair enough, my point was mostly just that Troy seemingly didn't have a real long-term plan so early in the series. Also, at least until we know what the Ark is, "Ark Lie" is sort of a meaningless combination of two frequently recurring words in the series- an interesting coincidence (or decision), but what does it actually mean? If it means Alex is the Ark, for instance, then why the "Lie" part?

My own feeling, based on nothing so much as intuition*, is that Alex is most decidedly not the ark. Thus, "ark lie."

And no, I don't know how much of the story (or more likely not) they had when they first set out to do this, so it may yet turn out to be a coincidence. It just seems... odd.

*Yes, I know -- this is not evidence. I am expecting my shredding forthwith.

Okay so apparently totheark can't be either Tim or Brian, because it turns out he was an 80's kid.
