Sonic is only good for 2D nostalgia, the 3D Sonic games blow donkeys. Overall, Sonic gets a *fart noise*/5.

How can you compare FFIII and VI. They are completely different. Are you sure you don't mean III and V?

I think the real question is how can you not know that he is talking about a single game? It's the one with Terra/Locke. It was originally 3 in America but later changed to 6 to stick with the Japanese release title.

That's exactly what I meant. And I'm a she. I thought the geekgirl thing would have given that away.

I actually like Sonic Adventure 2; it's one of my favorite Sonic games. Sonic Generations is also a lot of fun.

I'm sorry, every time I think of Sonic, I think of Chris Chan and Sonichu and then I think of all the people who believe Sarah is important in Marble Hornets living in their own filth yelling "JULAAAAAAAAY!"

Eh, the 3D games aren't that bad- well, not all of them. I wasn't including the one from 2006 for the 360/PS3, because no such game exists, of course.

But yeah, nothing can touch the original three. Doesn't mean it's "only good for 2D nostalgia", though- the relatively poor quality of the rest of the series doesn't somehow damage the quality of the originals.

Generations was a blast. I remember really enjoying heroes when i was younger too. Adventure and Adventure 2 were good at the time of release but having played them both to completion recently they really did not age well whatsoever. The battle game on GBA was also really fun back in the day

2 will forever be the best. Generations was the best 3d sonic by a landslide.

Bonus points if you are old enough to remember Sonic's Schoolhouse for PC.

Anyone played Colors? I haven't, but I've heard good things. Some people have said it's the first game to get the 3D right, which makes me curious.

Can never decide whether I like 2 or 3&K better, myself. The full length 3&K was a pretty epic game.

And since we're discussing platformers, anyone else like Crash Bandicoot? (The original Naughty Dog trilogy, of course.)

Crash Bandicoot was amazing.

Speaking of Sonic, check out this site: http://s3k.ocremix.org/ I stumbled upon it yesterday, and it's got some great Sonic Remixes. Also, anyone remember and of the old shows? The SatAM was my favorite.

Sonic 3 and Knuckles was brilliant, although THAT bit in Carnival Night Zone is a huge blemish on a rather excellent game.

Although it never not makes me not laugh (and more then a little sad) that Knuckles is an echdina and has dreadlocks. Japan, no. NOT ALL BLACK PEOPLE ARE THE SAME Sad

And Tails can fly! (As a kid, I always wondered why Tails was so obbessed with Sonic. He can fly! That's way cooler then running faster.)

Ah yes, THAT bit. If you know how it actually works, it's a lot less annoying, although the never-explained-ingame method of getting past it still is hit-and-miss in my experience. I believe it was that if you hit the up button as it moves up and the down button as it moves down, it moves further each time? Or something like that?

Also, the series of negatives I bolded gave me a headache...

Your comment about Tails for some reason reminded me of the fact that he was some sort of Chosen One in the comics and could have been far more powerful than Sonic could dream of if he chose to.

Never got to watching SatAM, but when I was in kindergarten or so I had a VHS of basically every episode of Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. Freaking loved that show. Especially the 4-part Chaos Emerald episode. I rewatched a few episodes once and I'm not sure it ages that well for older viewers, but still.

I did also read the Archie comic series (heavily based on SatAM) for years. Amassed a small collection in the process. They're still in my room, in fact.

There are Crash Bandicoot games not made by Naughty Dog?

I fixed it for you.

I recently played those games again this year, and they still manage to entertain me and I feel are better games than a lot of new games.

I remember Crash Bandicoot, that game was hard as balls. It had a floating head bad guy between levels, right? You know what other game was awesome and funny? "Tiny Tank."
