Uhh, what? I missed like the last few days, I've been on a bender since Friday, at least I think it was Friday. What's this about Christian camp?

Um, I'm sorry but I've already accepted Tim as my Lord and Savior, so... you know...

Weird question, but do any of you think Jay's ever been with a woman? Describe the encounter in as many details as you care.

Well let's go over Jay's qualities:

1. Was living in a crappy apartment by himself doing nothing before MH started.
2. Makes documentaries about, uh, hotels!
3. Just figured he'd stop by real quick to catch you on your way out, heh.
4. Uh, sorry, he thought you were someone else.

Gonna say nope. But that's fine. He was just waiting for the right Tim to come into his life.

I'll post my Doctor Who response (this is the off-topic forum....so, we are allowed to talk about off-topic things here, right?) later today, I'm just in too good of a mood right now to talk about it, sorry for the delay, everyone.

Oh, and I finished Avatar: The Last Airbender. Well, not quite 'finished' (I know there's comics to come, but Korra for some reason hasn't been broadcast on free to air television here yet Sad

For me, Avatar was a show which needed to find itself for quite some time. Despite an intresting character and thoroughly likable characters and gorgerous animation, from the early episodes, every point conciveable was told with a lack of subtley which was a bit, even for a children's show. Sokka is a sexist, - all great elements, but basically told in capital letters.

I get the approach: the creators really, really wanted to make sure that their intended audience would latch onto the series. Trying to justify the series's budget and trying to establish a place in children's animated TV that wasn't tied to an existing pop culture icon or was promoted heavily through endless merchandising is a high task for anyone. But, in order, for me, the series never really got a chance to breathe - and having didn't exactly help.

So, I did give up on the series, although years later I did manage to see the film. Yes, THAT film. The film which is not spoken of. Despite it not being a rather enjoyable film, I was intrigued by many of the later developments in the series (Sokka and his tragic romance i_i for one) and decided to check out the third season to see if the series had geled.

- I love, love, love 'The Beach'. Let's sympasise with our semi-bad group of protraganists, let them come close to our hearts...and then slap us in the face and remind us just how screwed up they really are in the end.
- ZUKO JOINED TEAM AVATAR! And it was kind of akward.
- Seriously, Katra, I love you, your my favourite charater...but your being so mean to Zuko! But with, actual reasons!
- Shit, I totally called it what that old woman was doing, but seriously BLOOD BENDING IS THE MOST FUCKED UP SHIT EVER. (Although, I can't blame that old woman, really...they did suggest that she'd been raped by the guards ("the men")
- And when she made Katra do it, I fucking cried.
- No, Katra, no, she was trying to hurt your friends, and you were overwhelmed, DON'T CRY.
- Mai and Ty Li nearly joined Team Avatar! But didn't. But Ty Li became a member of Team Kyoshi Awesome, which is okay.
- KATRA: WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?
- I really do appreciate that, unlike in the first season, they don't overdo in stating why Ty Li and Mai defect to the other side. Azula was ready to KILL her brother and didn't show any regret in doing so.
- Aang's sleep deprived madness is the best thing EVER.
-Zuko going to see Ioh made me cry.
- Can I just say how much I love 'The Avatar and The Fire Lord' and how it subverted a lot of the tropes for the best friend turned greatest enemy routine? It wasn't over a girl (although I would have loved to have seen more of Roshi's wife, personally, she seemed awesome) and I liked how it just wasn't some calculated masterplan of Roshi's either. It was just a split decision which affected the course of history, which does happen.
- Ioh's bad assery is incredible.
- And kind of hot, actually.
- I knew that The Eclispe storyline was bound to fail, but it didn't stop everything hurting.
- Still would have liked to have seen more of the impact of Sokka and Katra losing their Dad again, though, but I guess they had the establish Zuko's dynamic with the group.
- "Everyone else got to go on a life changing experience with Zuko! Now it's my turn!" - This show goes meta in a very big way.
- Can I just say how much I love Toph? SHE'S AWESOME.
- She's blind, but she doesn't take any shit. Her disability doesn't define her and SHE'S AWESOME. As someone who has an assortment of significant disabilities, I love this, when people expect it to define you and ugh, NO!
- "Stop wavering that paper in front of me, I can't read!" - BEST. REPEATED. GAG. EVER.
- I would have liked to see Zuko settle into the group more and not just have the episodes establish his group dynamic and have other characters lead their own episodes with him as a background character, but I guess that's the point, isn't it? He was meant to be on their side all along (and there are the comics)
- I like how Fire Lord Ai isn't just a sterotypical villian. With a very nice chest. He's kind of fucked up because of how his previous Dad raised him, who probably saw in him the boy he once was with Ryoshi and his guilt over killing his best friend and took it out on him and how this affected his own rearing with Zuko (which by the way, is the most FUCKED UP THING EVER. He burnt his own son's FUCKING FACE.) and how it comes out in his battle with Aang.
- But Azula, oh Azula. You went from the villian I loved to hate, to the villian I just plain hated, to the most pitful character in the entire series. While Ai basically had the drive to be the best son he could be because he had no siblings, Azula saw what happened to her brother and of course, they drove her actions - and to have her descend into an incoherent mad thing was just heart wrenching and that she'll never come back from that is the most heart wrenching thing EVER. And this could have so easily been Zuko as well.
- And when she was relieving Zuko's face being burnt while fighting Katara was the most FUCKED UP thing ever.
- The ending....well, it kind of came from nowhere? I don't know - I kind of have mixed feelings about it, personally. While it's a good symbol to the world that violiene isn't the answer and probably ignited a new age of peace and all that, it really felt that the writers came into a bit of problem by not wanting to corrupt Aang's innocence. Look: a lot of people have blood on their hands in the war, why should Aang be spared? Having Aang lose his innocence and being so changed by his experience that he and Katara could never be would have been the more realistic ending for me - and it's not as if children's literature hasn't gone in that direction before.
- "A new era of peace and love." - Well, that was a bit corny and I kind of expected Zuko to address his nation that they needed to show the world who they were now, and about the long road ahead.
- Oh, Fire Lord Ai: I HATE YOU. FUCK, HE WAS JUST MESSING WITH ZUKO'S HEAD ALL ALONG AND HIS MOTHER WAS DEAD.
- SERIOUSLY, FUCK YOU, AI.
-Ioh and Zuko's reunion: HAPPY TEARS! HAPPY TEARS WERE SHED!
- I loved Toph/Katara's bonding episode and it was nice to have an episode of television in which two female characters have difficulties with each other and they explore in a logical fashion, rather then being overplayed as a catfight.

You just now finished ATLA? How have you lived?

And did I understand your post correctly that you didn't watch Season 2? Not that Season 3 wasn't great, but Season 2 was fricking amazing and you've missed out if you haven't watched it. I'm fairly confident that that was the series's real high point. And even the first season picked up if you waited a while- how far in did you get? Just curious.

Also, who's Fire Lord "Ai"? Do you mean Ozai? And what's this about Zuko's mother being dead? Did we watch the same series? His mom was never answered fully (last thing we heard she was probably alive), and the comic that will answer it doesn't come out for a month yet.

I did see an episode of season two, but just didn't take to it and it just seemed to have many of the problems of season one, but it could have just been an odd bad episode (and I was actually quite depressed at the time, so it might have impaired my judgement)

As for season one, I got up to the Jet episode - or perhaps The Blue Spirit episode. Both were good, but the creators were just trying too hard to hit the right notes home at the point. THIS SHOW IS GOOD. JUST CALM DOWN AND LET IT BE GOOD - and I found that kind of approach a bit exhausting. The M. Night Shaymalan movie and Sokka's tortured romance were the things which reignited my intrest and got me to eventurally check out season three. (Yes, it's a terrible movie, but you can tell they messed up a great story, although the fact that the actress they cast for AZULA HAD NO CHARSIMA WHATSOEVER! AUUGH!)

Oops, I meant Ozai.

While thanks for the clarification, I haven't read the comics yet (and did state so in my post), but heh, I've got something to look forward to, don't I? For me, given that this was the intended definte end for the series at the point and the series had already gone to the darkest of places with Azula's complete and utter mental collaspe, lead me to believe that the creative intention was that Zuko's Mother being dead and Ozai just fucking up his head (although, I was tired when watching the series)

Ah yes. It's a sad story really. You see, it all happened when Jay met this large, buxom, handsome woman named Helga. Now Helga considered herself bi, but she usually had a preference for sexy little ladies. Jay was such a cute little poo-bear though that the first time she saw him she knew she had to make him her subby puppy pet. Jay knew that only she would be able to satisfy his macrophilia. So Jay became her personal pet along with another girl named Tina (who just so happened to be the unseen, unheard girl in entry 7). Helga never went anywhere without her two bitches on each arm, and they never went astray. They liked for Helga to take them on walks on their leashes. However, one day Alex found out what the three of them were really doing while they were having their "study group" after school. Alex decided he wanted to take 'Rocky the Dog' (Jay's little pet name) for a 'walk'. In entry 2 TO was attracted by Jay and Alex's little romp in the woods, which is the REAL reason TO started stalking the two of them. And after Helga found out her little puppy had gone astray she refused to ever spank or pimp slap him again, jumping into a rainbow Viking Boat with Tina and sailing on a cloud off to Neverland.

I'm defiently going to start the show from season one again, now (and from memory, there was a fantastic episode of season two I did see - 'Avatar's Day' which was nothing short of brilliant) Although, with my autism, it's properly best if I move onto the comics and then go back while waiting for the next issue.

I love the show and I love the fact that the creators just stopped being so self-concious and just told good stories. Which they are good at Smile

The comics do strike me as a bit of an odd move, though. You want the kids and the audience to let go of Aang and co., but didn't the comics start like two months before Korra made it's debut? Getting the kids and the fans to deattach from Aang and focuses on the new Avatar would seem to be the way to go. Not that I'm not happy for more Aang and ZUKO (!!!), but it just seems like a very odd creative choice to make.

My predictions for the comics:

- Not everyone will buy The Fire Nation has changed and there will be huge political problems on the horizon for all nations.
- Ioh will die very early on. Which is not good.
- Mai and Zuko will break up at some point, as she's too used to how he used to be and how much he has changed. That's not to say we won't see Mai or she's inherently a bad person, just she's used to old Zuko.
- Something Ioh did in his past will come back to bite Zuko in a very, very, bad way.
- The gang will be split up for awhile and start heading in some very different directions in life.
- We've seen God-like figures and past Avatars, perhaps we'll see the demonic side of Avatar? (Like The Face Stealer?)

Sadly, Korra isn't playing on free to air here (I think it might be a Pay TV exclusive Sad() and there's no sign of the DVDs or even an Itunes release Sad

Perhaps as a warning? Or maybe since the TC wasn't a troll account, he couldn't actually delete the topic.
