Actually, Slenderman himself is really just the boogeyman and he's not too original either, although this trailer is a bit closer to Slendy with the camera part

Yeah... plus Victor Surge himself said he was inspired by The Tall Man from Phantasm. Plus another source I can't recall at the moment.

Still, the video part does seem reminiscent of Marble Hornets.

 		Looks like it may have promise, I liked PA and Insidious a lot (it may have been formulaic and standard genre story-wise, but it scared the shit out of me, my gf was damn near catatonic near the end) so Blum has a solid horror track record with me. The director did Emily Rose too, which was disturbing on a whole different level. D'Onofrio's creepy no matter what he's doing so that will work.

I kept wanting not to see the connections, but as the trailer went on, it became more and more close (not really close, near, proximate maybe?) to the MH Operator -- except it's just kids here?

Oh my fucking god. If trosephim were smart they'd sue the fuck out of that. I cannot believe this. Someone facebook troy this.

- box of tapes / burning of tapes
- figure seen in backgrounds and main character realizes
- figure then appears in main characters time period
- symbol everywhere he has appeared
- totheark type video effects

(regarding Paranormal activity) Post-production and distribution The film was screened at 2007's Screamfest Horror Film Festival, where it impressed an assistant at the Creative Artists Agency, Kirill Baru, so much that CAA signed on to represent Peli. Attempting to find a distributor for the film and/or directing work for Peli, the agency sent out DVDs of the movie to as many people in the industry as they could, and it was eventually seen by Miramax Films Senior Executive Jason Blum, who thought it had potential.


Kiril Baru is the producer of Marble Hornets and distributes the DVDs. I smell something very fishy.

Now, I started looking at your post with an "oh, well, here it goes again" attitude. But after finishing it, I'm starting to think about it.

But seriously now, troseph can't do shit, unfortunatelly. They don't own nor Slenderman, and I guess a non-budget Youtube series made by three guys is not likely to win to a big production movie starting Ethan Hawke in a trial. And they are smart, they're not going to sue them because of reasons. Regarthless, I'm with you on this one, Baru maybe should be considered a non-option in anythin Marble Hornets related.

I know! And I had to watch it again because my DH came home right after I finished the first round. I felt all the awkwardness and uncomfortableness and RAEG.

Judging by the posters alone, I don't know what to expect. Their depiction of Slenderman (or whatever they're calling him) doesn't really convince me.

And about the Sinister movie thing... well, at least they had the decency not to make him the actual Slenderman, but the whole tapes business and the symbol and distortion? Not cool. Specially because Trosephim can't do anything about this.
