Are you a Scientologist? Because only Scientologists and Wiccan teenage girls say that. Pills do solve issues. They've helped me a great deal.

Furthermore, who are "these people" who you're afraid of telling off? If they're making fun of you over a serious issue, I'd tell them to suck my cock and drop dead before leaving a Jack O' Lantern on their front doorsteps with a knife stuck in it and a note that simply reads "you."

While pills do solve certain issues, they aren't necessarily the best solution for every situation; depression and thoughts of suicide have multiple sources and some medications can have side effects that only increase feelings of ajfiosajdof-ness. For example, someone's living situation (including things like domestic relationships, dietary disorders, career/trouble with education, what have you) or recent traumatic events can cause suicidal "tendencies," and pills aren't necessarily the go-to solution for such things.

That said, if you do end up seeing a therapist/psychiatrist, whatever, and are prescribed something, it's a better idea to take it than not. At least until you have things under enough control that you can handle things on your own steam.

I guess the issue is more of what "suicidal tendencies" means. Suicidal thoughts and suicidal "tendencies" can be two very different things, in latter case, yeah, at least outside help (and if necessary, medication) is probably the best way to go. Suicidal thoughts on the other hand are something that a lot of people have for their own reasons that no one should judge or use to make fun of you. Everyone has their crap to deal with.

As far as the people themselves who make fun of you for it, I would say:

A) Don't share things like that with people who you don't feel like you can trust to handle it maturely and sympathetically. You should always have someone to talk to, it just shouldn't be idiots.

B) People who act like that usually are too immature to really change their behavior and all you're doing by taking up the burden of trying to make them see the error of their ways is adding more stress onto yourself and more macabre comedic material for them. Not a worthwhile endeavor. People choose to be assholes, but part of being an asshole is being unable to see how much of an asshole you are.

C) They sound like arrogant jerkbags anyway. I mean, you gotta pick your battles.

I only threw in the stuff about psychotherapy because it's mandatory. Personally, I like to solve all my problems by taking prescriptions-- I believe psychotherapy is nothing more than sitting in a room with a self-righteous, glorified philosophy major who asks you questions in the form of a statement and nods and pretends to write things on a piece of a paper then takes your money leaving you feel empty, whereas pills help you to not feel anything-- the way I want to feel. Nothing. Nothing at all.

I feel you bro, I'm just pointing out that we (I at least) don't know the full extent of Condor's situation, so it's brash to say what's right for him. What's right for you is right for you though.

I also know some people who hated that sensation and decided to live their lives in a different way, but it worked for them, so who am I to judge, etc.

PSYCHOTHERAPY IS BULLSHIT!

I was going to try and say something productive about it all, but, whenever I see Suicidal Tendencies I always think of the band. Sorry.

If you're have suicidal tendencies the first place you should go to probably isn't an internet forum. Go to friends/family/doctor/someone you trust.

Basically surround yourself with people who will support you, it will make your life much easier. It should go without saying people who mock you for it are not part of these people.

YAHR BULLSHIT!

And Condor, uh, yeah, the kind of people who tend to mock suicidals are generally not the sort you will be capable of changing for the better and not worth your time (and this is coming from an optimist who tends to assume the best of people). Don't bother trying to show them their error, just ignore them as best you can, and if you really can't ignore them make sure you break something when you punch them.

A very close friend of mine is going through something similar (both the bad thoughts and the lack of understanding from others), and I know this kind of situation isn't easy, especially when people around you don't really get it. Best of luck to you getting through it. Stick with people who are trustworthy and supportive.

And pills don't magically make everything better, but if it's getting bad then it might not be a bad idea to ask a doctor about some. They can help sometimes.

The worst part is that the person doing the mocking also happens to be a mother.

That makes me sick. Some people do not deserve to be parents.

But, seriously dude, avoid those people like the plague. Anyone like that is not gonna change because they'll never want to unless something like this happens to them. You stick to people who love and support you and you get help. Don't let it go on too long or it will get worse. And worse is no fun, not even a little.

I like my scary pumpkin thing better than avoiding people. It makes me feel better and there's no harm done.

I told her that I pray her child gets the mother they deserve, and, as expected, everyone got mad at me.
(keep in mind this is over the internet, not a face to face dispute)

First of all, that was a good one. Worshippy

Anyway, ignoring her/them would probably have been the slightly wiser route, and if it's possible to just distance yourself from these people and avoid any interactions with them as much as possible, that may be the way to go.

But seriously, that was a helluva burn.

I personally don't like pretending there isn't a problem. I understand ignoring stuff is a popular choice but I can't feel settled when I know there's a problem out there still affecting other people. It just feels unsettling to me to leave an issue out there in the open.

Makes sense to me. The only reason I responded to one of a certain user's... outbursts was because I needed to feel I'd said my piece; I knew it wouldn't change his mind or behavior. I'll more than likely never do it again.
