I usually think like this:

Effect = The thing.

Affect = The difference.

So, some effects can affect people.

Of course it doesn't help that the words sound almost identical in the english language nor that they both can be correct at times depending on what you want to have said. Makes it all quite confusing Razz

I prefer to use a dictionary like a normal person would. Let me help you out.

Effect: A change that is a result or consequence of an action or other cause.

Affect: Have an effect on; make a difference to. Move emotionally; touch the feelings of someone.
