Have yet to play 8. I'll probably get around to it one of these days. Otherwise, my big 3 are VII, Tactics, & X.

I usually go with the default difficulty setting on games, because I feel like that's the, well, "normal" version of the game. I considered increasing the difficulty in the later titles, but Birth By Sleep turned out to be much harder than I'd anticipated & scared me away from doing that. I also don't know what exactly the difficulty levels change, so that's a risk that I don't like to take.

It is on the DS & is allegedly about Roxas, yes. One reason why I don't like it is because Roxas actually does very little plot-wise.

Should this go in the Off-Topic thread? Is that what it is for?

My favourite FF games would be IV, VIII and X, in no particular order (well I guess it's 'chronological', but that was not intended).

I believe that the difficulty in KH games just ups the enemies stats, gives them more HP, def and str, or whatever, it's not a super amount as it's designed for everyone to play, a bit like Pokemon, but it tends to be the people who grew up playing it keep playing it. At least that's how I feel about the KH series. Birth by Sleep, I think I played that one, is that the on PSP? If so I got stuck on the last boss (I believe it was the last boss it had that feel about it) because I didn't train enough so I was under leveled, about lv 40 I believe. But I'd be keen to play it again on a bigger screen with HD graphics.

That's the one. It's actually split into 3 separate storylines, along with a bonus episode (2 bonuses in II.5).

I'm cool with stronger enemies, but I don't really like being weakened. I THINK that they might have made magic stronger in I.5. It doesn't really feel as weak as it used to. But maybe that will change after Hollow Bastion, when all of the enemies power up.

I hardly use magic in KH I, it's a lot better in KH II except for the fact that the cure line of spells uses all your MP. Other than that, I think the magic is better in KH II.

Well according to the internet, it's more gummi ship stuff than anything for the first game. The enemies are stronger but you don't deal less damage between Normal and Hard, on Easy tho you deal 3x damage and take half damage compared to normal.

I've not bought anything during this Steam Summer Sale. Nothing has caught my interest.

Other than that, I'm watching the last night of Mario Marathon 7.

Well, on my 1st playthrough, I got the sword & gave up the staff like everyone does, quickly grew frustrated with magic & never used it outside of outside of the occasional Graviga & whenever I needed to use magic to advance the story.

Some time later, I was told that magic doesn't actually suck if you get the staff, use Keyblades that enhance your magic, & a bunch of other shit. So, I decided to attempt a "mage playthrough." It wasn't too bad for the first couple of worlds, but eventually, I was nearing the peak of my MP (which also determines spell efficacy) & physical attacks were still infinitely more reliable. So I just kind of quit.

Finally, I.5 comes out, & I look at all of the additions. I find out that I get all of these powerful moves early on if I pick the staff, but if I don't, I don't get them until the 60's. So, obviously, I picked the staff, & since I'm more geared towards magic, I try to use it whenever it seems like it might do something. So far, I'm having better experiences. Summons are also a lot more useful than I ever gave them credit for. Except for Dumbo, what sense does it make to have a Summon that can fly, but ONLY 4 feet off of the ground? And Sora shrinks to ride him, which is just weird.

I didn't really mind that, once I understood how it worked. Initially, I thought that I had to be at full MP in order to use it. So I didn't actually use magic in KH2 for quite some time.

Anyway, the nice thing about KH2 is that, since MP regenerates after it's gone, you don't get stuck in situations where you can't heal or fight magic-vulnerable bosses because you have 0 MP. Also, since Cure heals everyone in the area, that's an acceptable trade-off.

Fire is kind of redundant, since Reflect is also a defensive spell & basically omnipotent. Magnet I thought was kind of meh, & generally prefer Stop/Gravity. Blizzard has definitely improved, & even relative to fire from the original game, sure you can't shoot it as fast, but you don't need as many to damage multiple enemies. Thunder, more accurate, huge improvement.

In Drive forms, magic is just ridiculous. Ironically, though, Wisdom Form never seemed very useful. I think it would have been better if they gave it to you at the same time as Valor Form.

As a heads-up, II.5 makes some strange changes (just like I.5, come to think of it). It increases the amount of MP that you need for the elemental spells, but doesn't do anything to Reflect, which as mentioned previously is way overpowered.

I actually meant in general, mostly for CoM & II. I made the decision early on not to increase the difficulty on KHI. It's not "hard," per se, but its controls can be really, really frustrating, compared to its successors.

Wait. Jay's motive for doing all this was to find Jessica... Tim has probably been talking to her for quite some time... (Not mine)
