Oooo... A Miami reference! He's being supported by Mel Fisher, and apparently donated one of the lost treasures: the "Atocha Star" Emerald.

Maybe there's hope for me down here?

This sounds like fun, but I'm not too keen on putting my CC # on their website to order the book. I've contacted them and asked about using Paypal. I guess if that doesn't work, I can purchase a $50 visa to use. We'll see.

seems interesting. I was hoping it was going to like Perplex City all over again minus ARG elements, however, it's basically solve all of the puzzles and put them in the right order first, then you and only you get to search for one of the sivler/golden eagles.

Much less of a hunt and much more of a puzzle solving contest D:

I think that you don't have to actually purchase the book to get it. I think that you can also ( https://www.greathunt.com/OfficialRules.html - see section 7):

"You can either purchase The Book at the website, or obtain a copy of The Book without purchase. To obtain a free copy of The Book, send a request to: Forgotten Treasures International Inc., "Free Book Request" P.O. Box 101, Abbotsford, BC, Canada,V2T 6Z5 and include the following: (1) a copy of a receipt proving that you have donated a minimum of $100 US (or US$ equivalent) to a charity whose main purpose is to fight breast cancer (dated within the previous two months); and (2) a short essay you have written between 100-500 words on how you feel we can best reach our goal of raising 100 million dollars for breast cancer. We will ship you a copy of The Book."

They told me paypal wasn't possible at this time, and that their website was secure. To avoid using my CC to purchase the book, I bought a preloaded visa and used that to order the book.

I'm in... Toronto's listed Smile
I like that it's based out of BC. I also like that there are 12 silver eagles at $20,000 each to find... *Dr.Pepper Hunt For More nostalgia!*

...ugh, just got that sinking 'missed $10G by 2 feet' feeling again... Bang Head

ETA: hoping this doesn't turn into another golden jigsaw thing:
Quote:
a) In order to be eligible for your prize, YOU MUST KEEP YOUR SOLUTION TO THE TREASURE HUNT CONFIDENTIAL. Any breach of confidentiality may result in FTII modifying, terminating or suspending The World's Greatest Treasure HuntTM: Quest for the Golden Eagle

But it's undestandable Smile And, based on the info, it seems you don't get the location of the prize(s) until you verify with them your solutions to the puzzles. So, they can decide whether you're eligible to hunt for the prize based on the rules listed on the site (collaboration is allowed though, of course). AFAIK, this is much the same way Laura Hall was granted the ability to find the treasure in the Levi's campaign...?

For prizes of $20,000, and a $1M golden eagle, it's completely understandable (and undoubtedly, none of the prizes will be 'hidden' until an individual verifies their chapter/book solution(s)).

ETA2: Details on the actual hidden 'objects'
Quote:
Located in 13 places in the world are 13 certificates of ownership. Each of these relates to a specific treasure. 12 certificates of ownership for silver eagles are located within a 250 mile radius of : Seattle, Washington; San Francisco, California; Los Angeles, California; Phoenix, Arizona; Houston, Texas; Miami, Florida' Raleigh, North Carolina' New York, New York; Boston, Massachusetts; Toronto, Ontario; London, England and Edinburgh, Scotland. The 13th certificate belongs to the Golden Eagle and may be hidden in any country of the world.

w/in a 250 mile radius of posted cities are certificates of ownership... (holycrap!)
USA: Seattle, SanFran, LA, Phoenix, Houston, Miami, Raleigh, NYX, Boston
Canada: Toronto
UK~ London, Edinburgh

within 250 miles of 12 cities

How good is this rule?

"The first person who correctly solves a chapter by submitting the chapter keys in the correct order, and who in FTII's sole discretion is declared the winner of a silver eagle, will be contacted to make arrangements for that person to travel to a location close (within 250 miles) to where the certificate of ownership (a "certificate") is hidden for that chapter. We will give you a set of directions to follow in order to find the certificate. When you have found the certificate you will be given the option to trade the certificate for one of the silver eagles. You are limited to one silver eagle earned. We will reimburse the declared winner up to $2500 US for expenses incurred including flight, hotel, food, and car rental costs spent in connection with travel for finding he certificate of ownership."

Personally, I'll be looking for a great hotel in San Fran. Rolling Eyes
