Emails to Caretaker

Rose, generally speaking the forums are considered off limits to the PMs and in game gharacters UNLESS we give them access. Konamouse has already asked that we not give out the unfiction site forums in links to information. We will either need to back everything up to a free web page, or someone's page on their own server, We can start one over at Yahoo, or start a new Wiki just for info to give in game characters...

In the mIRC, we talked about this last night before I emailed the stuff to Caretaker. He couldn't get attachments on his blackvault account. Which was why he wasn't getting the other emails we sent him. If there hadn't been a problem, I would have sent everything as an attachment.

I didn't think this stuff was available anywhere else, I did the best I could by listing each document and chat log seperately where I could.

(Since we don't know when Caretaker will show up I was trying to get him as much information as I could.)

Anyway, I was doing this at 2:00am and having a lot of trouble getting it.

I think that in this instance Addle and others agreed it was OK. But I could have easily misunderstood what I was supposed to do.

Thanks for the offer AnthraX, maybe we should think about puttting some stuff on seperately so we have access to send it to Caretaker, Jake or Reggie or whoever else we might have to convince about what has happened.

Mage, the same concern was raised last night. However, the precedent has already been set. Remember the brouhaha back when you told Jake about the boards (when he was SHIFT) and he freaked out about it? Then he came back and said, "SHIFT: I've checked your think tank. Luckily you've made it look like a bunch of people playing a game.". With Acheron, we've been giving Unfiction links to the characters since at least October.

However, in future games this may not be the case, so we should just look on this as a special circumstance. In any event, I think it would be relatively difficult for a shill to come onto the boards and post extraneous information. In the first place, the PMs would have to want to do something like that; the PMs for Acheron already know about the boards and could have done that from the start. Secondly, we were talking to in-game characters. If they show up and post, I'd think it would be fairly obvious.

Mmm, I'm with Steff on this one, the Unforums and #acheron should be OOC, #caretaker and #shift should be IC. I'm all for roleplaying, hell, I love it, but there should be an OOC haven where the "other reality" doesn't bleed in.

Anthrax has the right idea, setting up a space where we can do the IC thang. I might use that and save me some bandwidth.

Rasputin, yes, I do agree with you. As a general rule, in-game characters should not be directed to look at player forums. _However_, like I said previously, there was a precedent set with Acheron back in the beginning where in-game characters had been sent links to some Unfiction files. In the context of the game, the characters explained the existence of Unfiction as a think tank site made up to look like we were playing a game. Therefore in the case of Acheron, it's ok. Other games it may not be, and is an interesting conversation to take to the Meta forum.

You're all right. It would have been better to do this another way, but I didn't. And I'm truly sorry if it negatively affected anyone. I have nothing but respect and appreciation for the effort it takes to create and run the game as well as the effort it takes to play it.

Can we end this now, as it's done (and, I don't have a time machine to go back and fix it.)
