I'd like to see - though I doubt it even remotely possible - a service member being victim of Slendy. Perhaps on a military base.

I'm currently working on my first ever creative project based around the Slenderman mythos, however I'm only taking a small selection of elements from what has already been established and taking the whole thing in a completely different direction.

The article dinorobo posted has reenforced my choice of direction and I would just like to say thanks for posting it. Smile

No problem Razz
That article, and this thread have really had a lot of input on my series. I told myself I wouldnt release it until I was ready and this thread has shown me that I can still work to make it better.

i love that post about the slenderman vlogs, its true that a lot of people wants to imitate marblehornets. Hell, tribe twelve started as an homage to it, except it evolves into his own idea, it became million times better. Not many series does that, it's distortion and oh, no. Proxies everywhere and that guy from phantasm without a face. Shit, got real. It gets repetitive and it kills the art and supense. I know, i'm writing a series as well, (I join the forum, for reasearch to see what has been done, so i stay far away from it or change it into my perception.) but technically is not a slender series, more a creepypasta-ish series with some homage or allude to other series and some lovecraftian. .With is an undertaking, "budget-ish wise". Hey, location scouting outside the city, soon. Yippe.

I've been tossing around the idea of making references to the original mythos for my series, kind of like how EMH has used The Rake's story and such. It's nothing too big that causes huge plot twists or anything, I've just been thinking of referencing some of the original stories.

Is this a good idea or...?

I would like... I don't know, maybe someone immune to Slendy's mind screw, so he has to take another aproach to him, maybe Slendy to take some interest in this and deciding to not killing him right away, and well, the immune couldn't do anything becaise is well... Slendy.

I have read that a lot of people dislike proxies because they detract the threat the Slenderman poses, a reasonable criticism.

But what if a "proxy" is justified? Like, a runner who can successfully avoid slendy, so something would be sent in to fix that. Y'know actual reasons. I'm really conflicted on the whole matter.

Sorry if this is the wrong thread to ask, it seems to pretty much be a slender do's and donts thread.

I think that as long as something in a story makes sense, when it is justified, it can work really well. Proxies for the sake of proxies is bad but if they have a reason to be there then it should be fine.

For example, in Dark Dream Chronicle the "proxies" (even though they kind of weren't) had a reason to be there as part of the Gentleman's over-arching goal. I didn't think for a second to write them in for no reason.

Thanks for your input.

"I think that as long as something in a story makes sense, when it is justified, it can work really well." is words to live by as a writer.

One thing I would like to see is a cop get heavily involved. I realize this may be difficult to accomplish believably due to OOG circumstances, but I would like to see it play out. In many of the vlogs, people go missing or are even murdered, and in a realistic world there would be people other than our Jays and various main characters who would want to know what the hell is going on.

Realistically, our protagonists would end up looking like a prime suspect for murder. Don't base the entire series around it, but it would be a nice story arc that advances throughout the course of the series, I think.

Sorry if something like this was already mentioned. If someone is already doing something like this though, please direct me to them because I'd love to check it out.
