Green Revomaze

Hello, I'm from the US, read about the Revomaze, checked it out and ordered the Green one. I decided to skip the Blue, because if it was too easy, I'd be dissapointed.

Well, I've been at it off and on now for about 2 weeks. I play with it in the evening while I'm watching a little TV before I fall asleep. I haven't solved it yet but here's my assessment:

The Revomaze is very well made - no dissapointments there at all. It's probably one of the best made mechanical puzzles I've laid my hands on.

I have basically memorized the maze - or all parts to it that I could find so far. What is a little dissapointing is that most routes that I take lead back to the same places, if you don't "drop off". I would think that I found a sneeky path that might lead me to somewhere different, but I end up back in the same place. Ok, I am obviously missing something here, either 1) there is a path that is right there to find that I haven't found yet; or 2) there is some other "trick" to getting me on a different path that actually gets me closer to solving this puzzle.

I'm not looking for the answer to this puzzle, just wondering if anyone else who is working the green (or blue for that matter) is or was as stuck as I seem to be.

Re: Green Revomaze

i am extatic to see someone outside of the recent puzzle community grab onto one of these things and review it.

the blue, honestly, i found to be harder. the blue was like a training device for the green. i suggest buying the blue. also, remember the 5 puzzles each hold 1/5 of the map to the series code, which you should want to strive for. besides, with puzzles this awesome, who wouldnt want the whole set?

Short answer is yes. I've been where you are and I think i can safely say that It almost did my head in. Just keep at it mate. The relief/reward when you finally see those horrible horrible dots line up is worth the frustration Razz

I saw one of these revomazes on the internet and saw some people talking about how well they were made and how difficult the maze/puzzle is. So, I was intrigued enough to plop down the coin to buy one.

I can't tell you how glad I am that this thing is very nicely machined. If it had any plastic or felt like it was made out of cheap metal castings, I would have been dissapointed. I usually figure out mechanical puzzles rather quickly. This thing is challenging me.

To be honest with you, I never really cared about the code or entering into any contest. I bought the revomaze strictly for the challenge of opening the darn thing. I may or may not buy more of them.....we'll see how this goes. Who knows, the Green Devil might last me a lifetime.

I'm not sure why you would need to do the Blue first before doing the Green. I'm thinking that thee is a hidden passage somewhere - I tend to hug the walls and the tables too much. For lack of a better names, I call vertical obsticals "walls", and horizontal obsticals "ceilings" or "tables", depending on their orientation to where I am in the maze.

Skans: if you're not already there, I recommend that you join US on the ReVoMaze forum. I really don't like forums because they either all get sidetracked (SW), are rather dead (unfiction), or there's a group of people bitching and complaining all the time (SW). You'll find that the ReVoMaze forum is absent of this kind of BS.

It's really difficult to explain the importance of the blue before the green without giving away too much. But I will tell you this; the blue is Chris' way of introducing us to the way he thinks. Once you grasp how the Blue works, he gives you a little practice, and then adds an additional element of difficulty.

Without knowledge imparted to us by the blue, one could certainly spend an over abundant amount of time traversing "ceilings, walls & tables". Not to mention when designing the green, I'm certain Chris assumed that those trying to crack the green already had an intimate knowledge of the blue and simply increased the difficulty.

The green is harder to open then the blue, but the blue too me over 4 hours to open the first time, whereas the green took me less than 2. Either way though, IN COMPARISION, I consider the blue and green to be "easy" compared to the Bronze that will be hitting my door step in 30 days.

Another reason to have the blue and green, I now get to have one on the 20 ReVoMaze I - Black Limited Edition puzzles. Which will be shipping out next week to me and 19 other fanatics?

But, that's part of the fun of it for me - I want to crack the green cold. I don't want to have to practice with the blue first (plus, I only have the funds for one revomaze at this time, so I skipped the blue and went straight to the green). I'm really not looking for someone to tell me how this works..................well, maybe I am subconciously looking for clues, but PLEASE REFRAIN FROM GIVING ME ANY, no matter how much I beg for them.

This is a fantastic puzzle set. i admire your enthusiasm and desire to crack this baby. I'm still dead set on the fact that EVERYONE should own a set, however being has the craftsmanship and material isnt cheap, these puzzles dont easily fit into everyones budget. if you can 4, then skip the blue, if you can only afford 3 then maybe skip blue and bronze. but i think you would be cheating yourself out of the experience if you did not at least try to crack the green, silver, and gold. for a guy like yourself, the LE Red might be what you're into. this is again a special, Limited Edition, puzzle not associated with the tournament, most likely limited to a production cycle of only 20 puzzles. this will be the hardest Revomaze Series I puzzle Chris can make. not only that, hes crafting each one by hand, so no one will know whats inside other than him. I CAN HARDLY WAIT!

Don't forget there are the brain teasers on the RevoMaze forum where you could win a puzzle. The Bronze brain teaser is coming out soon. Wink

You can still see the other 3 brain teasers, but I warn you the next one will be completely different, not necessarily harder, just different.

Still at it...

I'm still working on this green revomaze. Obviously, it's not just a maze, or I woud have solved it by now. There must be some "trick" to getting passed one of these dead ends.

The maze itself seems somewhat simplistic. It's not exactly a long winding maze. Stumped for now.

Laughing If it was just a maze, it would be way too easy. There are a couple of "tricks" to stump you along the way. Nothing you can't figure out without a lot of trial and error though Laughing

On the positive side, you can't say you're not getting your money's worth out of the challenge. Wink The best part is that even once you know how to do it, it really doesn't make it that much easier to do it again and again. And if you are trying for speed, it's even harder.

Black Revomaze????

Well, I'm still struggling with the green. If the Black is significantly harder than the green, I may have to wait until my brain catches up with my addiction to buying time-wasting devices that do nothing but frustrate and perplex me!!

The black should be significantly harder, but dont worry about it. the blacks we produced as a Limited Edition set of 20 puzzles only and are sold out. Those of us who did get one should have them wednesday or thursday. i cant wait!

Those little dots
What to do with the dots

I've finally gotten my blue maze to where the second dot appears and it lines up...making me think I'm at the end, but what do I do now? One would think the puzzle would simply slide apart. Am I missing something?
