I also saw the word WATCH flash somewhere around 0:28.

It's possible that some more response videos will spell out a message but so far maybe all we have is MArs and EYes. We'll probably just have to wait and see if James (or someone else who knows James) will contact Jeremy.

It's possible. I guess this is progressing in "real time" but it feels like a glacial pace. Not a lot happening. It's like marble hornets but without a point or plan.

Is he being cursed or protected by the man in the fedora... the ninja monkey that follows isn't very creepy.

This is following the Marble Hornets template. But it's not very scary, not enough characters and people talking into a camera aren't very interesting. Not many puzzles either. If they had built up James' story more... more creepy strange stuff going on before he went missing, it might have drawn more people in.
