How do Slendyblogs gain popularity?

Like, I don't see how someone can stumble upon a blog unless they're told to it by others (Which means they stumbled upon it and... Yeah...)

Is it all word of mouth?

And, is this the right section to post this in? I see it as a general slenderman subforum.

Interesting.

I was just reading A Hint of Serendipity and A Really Bad Joke and wondered HOW they got all them followers.

There's no magic bullet. I'm tempted to say that the cream rises to to the top but... There have been great series that have been posted here that end with maybe a dozen followers and less than a page of comments here. There have been spectacularly bad series that get hundreds of followers and are talked about every day.

It's easier to tell you things that I've seen fail... don't tweet constant replies to EMH and MH hoping to get noticed.... don't tag your very first video "slenderman" when he hasn't appeared... don't break the rules here... don't assume that getting it posted here is the key to instant notoriety...

Well, the very first ones could get enough attention on Unfiction. But around the time of AHoS and ARBJ? Comments. They commented on other people's blogs, and those people found their blogs through their comments.

Very much comments! I feel that if someone comments and you comment back or respond to your followers then they are more likely to keep following. Interaction between the author and the readers is a great way of ensuring you establish a fanbase.

That does seem to keep interest in people who are initially interested. If they are attracted to the blog/vlog and can interact the characters it creates immersion and attachment.

Pessimism following in spoiler block:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Dark Dream Chronicle gained its 10 followers this way and there were a few who dropped out early on but it maintained the fans it had because of the attachment they had to characters.

Doesn't seem to get me more than 4 followers for Violet's Own Interest Dreams though, but I wasn't expecting it to be popular anyway because I hate my own work like that ;D

One way I would say is Put yourself up on TvTropes - it is a smaller list then the complete list on tumblr so it is more contained - and you also get to write yourself a short summery as well as adding tropes to your page.

It is actually the first place I look for new material (I have a few on a list from the Mythos comics by expression which I need to get to before looking for more new ones.)

This is a great suggestion.

I absolutely love TV tropes and its actually where I found my first slendyblogs.

I'd recommend this to anyone with a blog.
