[TRAILHEAD?] 2013 Mazda CX-5 TOP SECRET package delivered in mail I received a package from Mazda North American Operations in Milwaukee and inside was a folder labeled 2012 MAZDA CX-5. Inside were a number of clippings, documents, etc. and a copy of a business card to my local dealer. I'm going to head there shortly after going through the contents in more detail but it didn't go in the trash like all my normal Mazda advertising!

Ford launches all-new Fusion with breakthrough transmedia marketing program, "Random Acts of Fusion," aimed at introducing the new car to millions before it hits showrooms this fall
...
"We are taking a completely unique approach to introduce the new Fusion with a transmedia program, launching this transformational vehicle that over-delivers with its distinctive blend of style, intelligence and technology," said Jim Farley, Ford group vice president, Marketing, Sales & Service. "Combining social media, entertainment and unexpected consumer experiences will allow us to connect with audiences through every type of media, making Fusion's profile larger than ever."
...
Unlike any other program before, Random Acts of Fusion will play out over time through a story arc across a variety of media channels that will be driven by digital and experiential while also including radio, broadcast and social media.
...
Consumers can start to piece the puzzle together by visiting the Ford Fusion Facebook page to find out more details this week.
Cross-platform storytelling pioneer 42 Entertainment in partnership with Team Detroit will play an integral role in developing Random Acts of Fusion. The program runs through the end of October.
Ford... and Mazda? And a familiar name? hm.
ETA: I dunno, by the looks of the wording on a lot of those papers, it looks like a bigger, more fleshed out version of a neat flyer package advertising a car Is there anywhere to go from there, from that mail? Other than more marketing material?

I have a Mazda6, so with a little luck maybe I'll get a packet too? I think I wanted an excuse to have a look at the CX-5 anyway.

Packet Contents Here are the high-res pictures of the contents. Let me know if you guys see something out of the ordinary. I didn't see anything that stood out except the web page on the back of the folder but that had no obvious trail head when I checked earlier and appeared to just be the normal web site marketing page. I covered up my personal data and that of my local dealer just in case. This was not addressed to Guest User17 which is unusual in itself. I do own a Mazda 6 and have taken test drives in the past in case that matters.

Received call back from Mazda So it wasn't John Abel that called back but the person that I spoke with was either not giving ANYTHING away or this was just a mailing to existing Mazda customers to try and get them to look at the CX-5. Even when I told him that his competition (Hyundai and Ford) are doing much more involved promotions he stood by his story that this was just a new vehicle launch mailing. If I have the time later this week I will try another dealer and see if they recognize it. Supposedly there were thousands of them sent out last week. Either I'm missing something or Mazda is missing the opportunity. Still can't be sure of which!
