[OT] Marble Hornets Discussion Podcast

Hey all!

I really don't mean to be advertising, so therefore, I won't be giving info on where exactly this will be.

A friend and I are booting up a podcast with all things web fiction. Seeing as one of our top favorites is Marble Hornets, Slender Man mythos will play heavily in the podcast. BUT, seeing as we're just two people, we can't do it all alone. Anyone in here have Skype and want to participate in some web fiction discussion? Possibly throw some theories out there and what-not?

We're both extremely well acquainted with MH. I just recently barged through Dark Harvest, I'm very mildly into TribeTwelve, and not too knowledgable in Everyman though. If anyone in here is pretty well versed in those series and wants to talk to us, we'd really want to take this off the ground. I haven't heard of many podcasts taking on web fiction, so maybe we'll get on top of the curve.

Any who, please shoot me your Skype name if you'd like to talk further on this. And if this is considered too off topic or spam, please feel free to lock and ignore. I don't want to be a burden. =]

Thanks!

Neat idea.

I've been doing the same thing, with the focus of this podcast, called Marble Operator, entirely on Marble Hornets. After looking around and not noticing any such podcast (a fan podcast entirely about MH), I started my own.

The podcast goes out live Tuesday and Thursday nights, at TalkShoe ID 112081 (check my signature for a link), and anyone and everyone who's a fan of MH can easily join in. I've noticed some people from here already join in a few episodes.

Right now, my cohost and I are discussing the entries from the start, and going through about three entries per episode. Tomorrow night, we'll be wrapping up season one by discussing Entries 24, 25, ######, and 26.

I have a news segment at the top of the show, where we discuss new activity with the series (be it a new Entry or totheark response), so tomorrow night we'll be discussing Entry 50.

I've mentioned this once or twice around this section, but am hesitant to do so because, lol advertising.

I'm interested in joining your discussion. My Skype handle is capt_jack_harkness.

I'd be interested in a MH podcast, but since I'm not very knowledgable of the current theorycrafting, I'm not sure how useful I'd be as a cohost/guest.

No way. I'm checking it out right now. Glad to see someone's taking this task, I noticed a few months back that nothing was really being posted for MH.

No problem, we can get discussion going regardless. Message me your Skype and we'll talk! =D

I'm so glad I have hobbies that don't include the internet.

I wouldn't mind guest hosting on a podcast about the mythos. I am currently doing an unrelated podcast.

What is your recording set up? double ender recording or do you have some software on your end?

My Skype name is the same as my forum name - minus the spaces.

We're all on these forums, so I don't think any of us can say that =P haha.

My recording software is pretty cheap. I open up Garageband and hit record. My Macbook's mic is built close enough to the speaker where it captures just fine. I've been doing a few podcasts this way and so far no one's complained. So far... haha. I'll add you on Skype!

As far as mine is concerned, in terms of physical equipment, I have a USB mic and a pair of headphones. With software, I start a room on the TalkShoe site, and start the recording there. Anyone can join a show on either audio or just in the text chatroom. To call in you can use either a phone (landline or mobile), or do what I do and use an SIP client such as X Lite.

Although sometimes I record podcasts over Skype. Cleaner audio that way.

i'm enjoying these. i'm up to episode 6 or so.

there's only two complaints that i have

1) people coming on the show and having nothing to say other than "yeah i agree" - waste of time imo and leads to awkward silences, if your gonna go on the show at least have something interesting to say

2) the quality of the audio is pretty bad... the mic you used in the first episode was perfect iirc

other than that these are great, keep em comin

If it's my podcast you're talking about, the audio quality is due to TalkShoe. If I were recording it over Skype, the audio would be higher quality and clearer. I could do that, but if I did, no one else would be able to call in and join the discussion, unless we exchanged Skpe contacts. Doing the show as I currently do opens up the discussion for others a lot more easily.

I recorded the first episode offline, in Audacity, with my USB mic, which is why the audio is a lot better.

yeah i was talking about yours. might i suggest that if anyone wants to be on the show to let you know before you start recording so you can use skype, because it's extremely hard to listen to without headphones on

Hm, okay, I'll talk that over with my co-host, see what she thinks.

Bumping this thread since Marble Operator has a new episode of the podcast available, and I expect will have a lot of new episodes once season 3 starts: http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/marble-operator/id459348260

The OP's podcast Around the Campfire has new episodes as well: http://www.finalsmash.com/category/podcasts/around-the-campfire/
