The lack of in-game explanation is seriously discouraging me. I mean, it's easy for me to come up with tons of head-canon excuses for why Jay is taking so long to put up the tape, but those can only take one so far.

I kind of miss the entries that you KNOW were filmed in "reasonable" areas, like Alex's house or an apartment. I mean, look at Season 2; the gap between Entries 44 and 45, for example, was not even a week long, and ONE of them was filmed in Alex's house (44). If some entries weren't in places that took such a hike to get to (the hospital, probably the tunnel) there'd probably be more entry production, maybe at a bit of a quicker pace.

But see, there's a problem with that; THOSE PLACES ARE SO AWESOME. I know why they keep returning to those places: Because they're cool and creepier-looking than somebody's house or front lawn.

So I'm left with no choice but to wait, because the areas are cool and I enjoy the series, so some downtime is just going to have to be dealt with.

...Rage?

Gaps don't bother me. Well, they bother me, but I get why they happen.

Lack of IG-explanation is unforgivable no matter how cool the awaited entry ends up being.

Not even the awesomeness that was Entry #65 can break that rule, Magyk?

Jay: Girl is missing, maybe dead. and we WERE being stalked by a giant faceless businessman. Also, the guy in the hood. Wanna try and figure that out?

Tim: Nah. Gotta work bro. Maybe in three weeks?

Jay: Sounds like fun. we'll plan it for then. What if one of us dies before then?

Tim: Relax.. If anyone could really hurt us they'd have done so by now!

Yeah really. Not even scared of the operator anymore. Especially since he let Jay get away in entry 60. It just seems like he can't really do any harm to someone besides passive effects of being around him or making people lose memories.

Both of which aren't really that big of a deal if you know that the thing causing them isn't going to harm you. Memory loss sucks but isn't anything directly threatening about it

They really just gotta come out and say what exactly the slender sickness is and what the mental side effects of it are. They're saying MH is far from over but I don't know...

Pravado, what about Entry #65? The Operator was MORE than threatening in that one; dragging/torturing Tim throughout Rosswood (I assume)? I'd say he's threatening at least now.

It's to the point that I want to see the Operator horribly mangle one of the main players to show a few things: one, there is a sense of danger. It can cause harm.
two: No one is safe: Being important to the plotline is not a shield of invulnerability.
and three: The creators are willing to push the series in a more grisly and less friendly direction. I mean, don't get me wrong, but it's supposed to be a horror series, or at least a thriller. Right now, it's lost that keen edge.

And yet, as of our current knowledge, Tim is largely unaffected by his rollercoaster through slendyworld. Sorry. Not fear-inspiring.

I gotchya. Razz

OOG:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
What sucks is, I think that may have been Trosephim's best attempt at making Oppy threatening, but I do actually agree that the results of that aren't that of fear IG. I don't know, the conveyance of his "power" in that entry is great, but what follows it just kills the whole threat for me too.

Just as a reminder, a normal ARG has interactive elements and the PLAYERS HAVE AN AFFECT ON THE STORY. Marble Hornets has extra elements that are not crucial for the story and the PLAYERS DO NOT AFFECT THE STORY. I've seen ARGs.

I can't believe we have to go through this again.

That's nice. Stop trying to misdirect the argument. This isn't about definitions, and almost no one is saying that the players have an effect here.

Marble Hornets is still an alternate reality story, meaning we're supposed to believe its events are actually happening in real time. It has been quite jarring when all the recent entries have ended on a cliff hanger or some urgent "we need to go do this right now" note only for the characters to take weeks to actually do something. And nothing seems to be bothering or threatening them in the mean time. As everyone else is saying, Trosephim really need to plan their releases better and consider the in-story timeline. If that means delaying entries so they have time to film several and then release them in a row, so be it. I'm just tired of being strung along on a false sense of urgency.

Not sure what all the fuss is about lack of in-game explanation. Like with Jay and Tim going to the hospital. Who cares why Tim waited to call Jay? We don't need to know every mundane aspect of their lives to enjoy the story, so why would we want to? The entries get delayed because other obligations get in the way of the creators, so logically that same reasoning extends to two characters in the story who are also trying to live their lives while in the middle of doing this investigation, one of whom we already know is extremely concerned about his long-term job prospects.

Also, like many have said, I don't fear the Operator any more either, though in my case that isn't because he's not intimidating and scary, because he absolutely fucking is, it's because I've watched the show so much that I've gotten desensitized to it.

Except that it can ruin your entire life, like it did Tim's. Ignoring, of coure, that the Operator has also abudcted people and driven Alex to murder a random passerby. Sure, he's not threatening, so long as you ignore all the reasons that he's threatening.

Amnesia in a story is not scary. If it was, every other JRPG would be classified as horror.

And even aside from that, amnesia does present a danger for the characters in the story.
