I forget what class I picked, but I know it's the sniper and tech based one, IIRC.

How far into the series are you?

ME1. I tried playing it once before but got bored, recently started playing it again with the intent of completing the series as I own all 3 games.

The first Mass Effect is popular due to its story, not gameplay. The gameplay is revamped and much more enjoyable in the second installment, and the third gets it damn near perfect. As for dying, I find that soldier is the strongest starting class in the first game, the other classes eventually become a force to be reckoned with, but it takes several levels to get to that point. This is not true for the other two games, as every class has a unique ability. Tech/sniper, for instance, got cloaking in 2 and 3.

Ah, neat. Can't wait, then. I'm a bit too far in my playthrough right now to consider a reroll, but I'm looking forward to seeing 2 and 3 evolve the formula. The story's pretty great too, and the gameplay is... Well, for now, it's satisfying.

I'm after where you become a spectre and go searching for Saren, and I'm at the part where you're fighting the Matriach(sp), just afterwards. Took more than a couple hours to get here, and I just kinda wanna complete it so yeah.

Cool, cool. I take it you haven't gone to retrieve the Matriarch's daughter yet, then?

ME2 and 3 are far better than 1. I'd say 2 is the best. It just improves so much from 1.

I haven't, no. I stopped playing to watch a stream and play some games with a friend, I'll probably continue later tonight ^^;

One piece of advice I do want to give, without spoiling anything, keep talking to Wrex after each mission until he asks you to do a favor for him.

Duly noted.

And don't forget to do that mission. Preferably immediately, so you don't forget to by mistake.

Should we just go ahead and make an [OT] Mass Effect thread? 'Cause I could talk everyone's ears off about that game. (mostly meant as a joke)

Am I the only one who liked the gameplay and upgrade system from the first one? I couldn't even get into the second one because the gameplay turned to shit. I got to Garrus, and that was about it before I put it on the back burner. I won't play the 3rd installment because they told me the Gameplay is similar to the crappy second game, and EA Originlol.

Guess it depends on what type of gameplay is more to your taste. The first Mass Effect is definitely way better at being an RPG than the second and third, and the combat system reflects that. The gameplay in the first installment didn't put me off of the game or anything, but the constant pausing to either select a power to use or check my cooldowns got a little annoying at times. ME2 and 3, with their additional hotkeys, universal cooldown, and all-around faster paced combat was more appealing to me, and I'd imagine it would be to most people who play as Vanguard. ME3 especially was a dream come true for close range fighters (even in Halo the majority of my kills come from melee beat-downs). But no, you're not the only one, I know other people that liked the first game the best as well. With how different the gameplay is between the first and second game, it isn't surprising that they can appeal to two different demographics.

The equipment and upgrade system was better in the first game, I agree. However, the combat system in general was greatly improved with 2 and 3.

Except I liked the RPG aspect of it, and I despised how they went all TPS on me. I don't care about your trigger finger and your ammo management. I really disliked the way the game turned. Hard to get into a game that isn't fun to play. But hey, someone must have liked it. I refuse to buy EA games now though, no matter how good they may be, because always on DRM and multiple Overlays suck ass. If you sell a game on Steam, don't make Origin required to play it. Same with U-Play, Ubisoft. You and EA BOTH suck. Also, don't get me into Sim City (the new one). EA and Ubisoft have both shit on my plate one too many times and I for one won't eat it any longer.
