Joke completely ruined. Sad

@pravado:
Last I heard, they were doing six episodes in the fall (we're already three deep), then the Christmas Special, then resuming in the Spring. I might be wrong, though.

Yeah, well after the Doctor Who comment about how one will always know when the next episode is, no one even noticed my pointing out that back when it was originally cancelled they didn't end with a next week and it was like mid season and no one knew it was ending like that. :V Not to mention the 18 month hiatus that preceded the 7th Doctor's first season.

No, my point was that information about when the new seasons of Doctor Who are going to air is so scarce that it's almost laughable. We didn't know for sure that Asylum of the Daleks was going to air when it did until very soon before it happened. And they were teasing it all summer. In addition, we found out almost immediately that there are going to be two months without Doctor Who again before the Christmas special, and then who knows how long until the second half of the season kicks off.

By comparison, a three-week wait for a 5-15 minute video is small potatoes.

Thats what we get for not paying attention I guess. My bad. But you have a valid point. Waiting this long for a new video isnt nearly as had as it seems when compared to other, much longer waits.

Yeah, you guys are all pissing because you don't get a MH entry every 2 weeks. Deal. It could be worse. You could be a Sherlockian. We have to wait over a year to get our 3 episode fix(the third episode ending on a MASSIVE cliffhanger), and then back into silence. For over a year. (But omg Sherlock its so worth it to wait <3)

The eighteen month hitaus wasn't before, it was before Colin Baker's second full season in the role (sorry, bit of a Doctor Who obbessive). Sylvester's first season in the role was pretty much a year after the premiere of season 23.

The Sixth Doctor's arc being rushed (and then old Sixy being fired by the BBC and not even given a decent regeneration and Big Finish (producers of the radio plays featuring Doctors from the original series not exploring that period of his life), now there's something to rage about.

But yeah, it does put all the waiting for new entries in perspective Smile If you want something on a regular schedule, collect comic books or watch TV, Marble Hornets is never going to have a regular update schedule.

The only real web series I can think of that updates on a regular basis are The Lizzie Bennet Diaries (twice a week, with updates from subsidary channels) and Hplus (which at one point was "The first online drama serial" - uh, no. Not by a long shot) (a series of short entries once a week) and both are made by proffessional studios.

I haven't watched much of Hplus, but I've enjoyed what I've seen so far. It's a science fiction series in which most of humanity have had had neural implants in which they essentinally have become their own computers. One day, a nasty internet virus spreads worldwide, and well, disaster follows. Lizzie Bennet Diaries isn't sci-fi, (it's an adapation of Pride and Prejudice set in the modern day) , but it is a brilliant series which doesn't just do justice to Austen's novel, but also expands and fleshes out the characters more (and responds to Jane Austen's often almost cruel humour by humanising several of the characters, while not losing their comedic side)

I feel your pain, bro Smile I love Sherlock.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
It's going to be intresting to see how Sherlock surrived and how there going to adapt The Empty House (the story in which Sherlock returned in the original canon)

I just don't understand Doctor Who... it's like a live-action British "Dragon Ball Z."

Not quite getting the Dragon Ball Z and Doctor Who comparsion, except that you seem to either 'get' both shows or you don't (but liking both isn't mutually exclusive). Dragon Ball Z, for the most part, is an action series, and while there are some intresting plot elements thrown into the mix or likable characters, not even my friend the diehard, that it's mostly there to serve the action.

Doctor Who, on the otherhand, has a much tighter narrative and the action serves the plot. Doctor Who is very story-driven and to be honest, I found it a lot more satisfying.

I don't quite 'get' DBZ. While I do get the appeal of the characters and there are some intresting story ideas, the series is waaaaaaay too bogged down in the action for me. Ten minutes in story time means ten twenty-minute episodes of people hitting each other? A friend of mine told me tha "You just have to go with it". I'm not immune to a cool action scene, but it was kind of overkill for me. It reminded me of another anime series I tried to watch, (one of the movies of it, anyway) Bleach, which had some intresting ideas, but the action scenes just went on FOREVER and I just wanted the plot to advance. Not saying that all anime (I'm aware that there are plenty of series out there that AREN'T like that). But Troy Wagner is a huge fan of DBZ (so the season one commentary tells me Smile), so it can't be all bad, can it?

Doctor Who does tend to split people right down the middle though. It has a very eccentric vibe to it which you either love or hate. I love the twenty-first century series, although I do wish that they resolved some of their finales a bit better (this has been less of a problem since Stephen Moffatt came onboard, though)

Heh, but I completly get not getting something. I can't connect to Dark Harvest for instance, it just doesn't click for me or the first two Nolan Batman films (I loved Dark Knight Rises, though). There's nothing wrong with them per se, I just can't connect to them on an emotional level, but I can admire them on a technical level.

Right here, my lad Smile

*Spoilers for the Big Finish stories*

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
In the new series, it seems pretty clear that Susan *probably* died in The Time War, given that according to RTD all The Time Lords were called up to fight. But, we don't know that for certain and who knows, in her inevitable return in the New Eighth Doctor Adventures, she might be killed off to add to The Doctor's post-Lucie anguish and become the man we saw in Mary's Story.

An Earthly Child is sitting on my hard drive right now. Yes, the Big Finish stuff is well-done. The relaunch series is constructed of plot holes and dreams, though. This is undisputable.

I find that I'd like to get into Doctor Who, and that if I did it's probably something I'd like - but the sheer scale of the series scares away a lot of people because they don't know where to jump in.

Watch Dragon Ball Z Kai. Filler taken out, so it's much more story-driven. In terms of the dub it's the one of the best Funimation has put out, and unlike their previous attempts, they didn't alter dialogue, remove subplots, or dumb things down for the kids. It feels like a completely different show.
