Have you ever actually seen them? They're actually quite good. People just like to put them down because it's the cool thing to do. "Leik, omg. Those movies aren't even good or scary lololol."

I'm rather excited for #4, which is going to be the finale to the series. There's been quite a bit of buildup leading to this final one, so I can't actually wait. The bit about the
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

that got tossed in at the end of 3 has really intrigued me, and I can't wait to find out how it all ties together. (:
Really REALLY unimpressed with PA 2 and 3. They felt far too over produced in my opinion. The first one was all about subtlety and the boyfriend being an absolute dick. The others? I gave up before I got through the whole thing. They felt hokie and forced. If others DO like them, hey great. But they're not my cup o' tea, The first one is still a very good film, however.

Feel the same way-After the first one they stunk. I just feel they are capitalizing on the success of shows like Ghost Hunters, Ghost Adventures and to a lesser extent Destination Truth and other paranormal shows. The difference is they are trying to maximize the scare factor with CGI.

Saw movies were the same. They started on a great premise with a serious focus on the plot. But it eroded into a nonsensical pile of crap series that focused on how disgusting they could kill people. fuck the plot and storyline by Saw 4-just make it more disgusting.

Interesting. I liked the first, thought the second one was a little lackluster, but thought the third one was far and away one of the best horror movies I've seen.

That doesn't matter to you any more than it does me. You are clearly aware of a large amount of negative reception towards the films, but you dismiss it anyway. Never mind that those I know who have seen it generally confirm my assessment, I didn't see it in full so I don't know anything, & they aren't reliable because they're just trying to be cool.

That's a really convenient Catch-22 you've constructed.

Hm, perhaps I should have said "most people" instead of just "people."

It still doesn't change the fact that a lot of hate for them, from most people, is just because it's the "thing" to do. Like hating on Justin Beiber, LeBron James, Twilight, the Notebook, etc.

I think perhaps you should actually know about the criticisms before you try to speak for people.

I honestly don't see what was wrong with my first reply to your post. I saw a post that was arbitrarily being all "OMG NO PARANORMAL ACTIVIES!!!!!1" and asked, innocently, if you had actually seen the movies because the majority of the criticism towards the films is from people who just criticize them because it's the hip thing to do. If you've seen it, and don't like it, that's cool. I don't care. I don't see what was wrong with my post though.

Actually, the post about "OMG NO PARANORMAL ACTIVITIES!!!!!111" was meant in reply to someone who brought up that stupid fucking Krill Baru guy...again. So, one guy got pissed and lashed out more than I did. I just pointed out how the cry that this Krill Baru stole ideas from MH and put them in Paranormal Activity, which I find hard to believe when the fucker is not connected to the movie beyond finding it in the mail room at his job and getting his bosses to take a look at it. The other guy was also pissed because this rumor that the guy stole work from Troy and company is still going on after it's been debunked multiple times. Seriously, the claim is about as stupid as those moronic "birthers" that try to claim President Obama isn't a born citizen while at the same time ignoring that his mother was an American citizen and that her child is a born citizen by default.

It's the Rage Thread, Paranormal Activity came up, I thought it was a good time to express my sentiments on said movies.

I really think it is a great failure to attribute all haters to the bandwagon effect. You mentioned Twilight, but there are a great many blogs out there where masochistic literature fans have detailed their exact problems with Twilight, complete with block quotes. It usually comes down to poor flow of diction, misogynistic themes, & absurd plot devices.

I'd have mentioned this earlier, but my responses had to be rushed.

Also, in my experience, someone who asks that question is never satisfied. I once played an RPG to the final area, including 90% of the sidequests, looked up the ending on YouTube just so I knew how everything turned out, & was told (several times, in fact) that my opinion wasn't valid because I didn't finish it.

I have not, but my distaste has nothing to do with being "hip." My youth was quite wasted on stories of paranormal activity, & I gotta tell ya, by this point, it's stale & unimpressive even when it's claiming to be real.

So I generally consider the franchise to be an annoying fad. Granted, at least it doesn't have T-shirts.

...Actually, that sounds a lot like "I was doing it before it was cool," but I also hate hipsters, so this is quite a conundrum.

I hate Twilight because it was a poorly written series of books by an author whose ideals I don't agree with. The movies are even worse adaptations pandering to the fantasies of chemically and hormonally challenged preadolescent and adolescent girls. It really got annoying seeing the "team Edward" and "Team Jacob" crap all over the place. Really annoying when I couldn't go to a local diner without it being plastered all over every window in the desperate hopes that they would attract a few more pre-teen brainwashed girls and their money into the shop. I tried to like it. It was bad all over.

I hate Justin Bieber because he looks like a girl (without meaning to) and I don't like pop music. And EVERYONE wants me to listen to his latest tune anyway (or they did when he was still the hot topic of the minute).

Hmm...I really enjoy the PA franchise to be honest, it certiantly makes a nice change from all the gore flicks. The very human horror of it (Micah's maipulative absuvie relationship with Katie, Kristi not conciously reliasing she's married to a paeodphille in the second due to her own experiences and the aftermath of Kristi and Katie's Grandmother's dealings with the demons) work well and the scares are great Smile

I didn't enjoy three as much, because I really didn't think we needed to go back to Katie and Kristi's childhood and their encounters with a paeodphille demon. I was more then content to see the drama of the aftermath in their adult lives and really didn't feel a need to see it upclose. But, that's me.

What.

I dig the movies as well. Didn't mind 3 as much as most people, but it was the weakest in the series IMO. 4 is the only one I've not been actively excited to see. I'll watch it but I'm really prepared for it to bomb. That girl that plays the main character? Worst acting in the series.

Who the hell has a shit eating grin on their face when they're supposed to be acting scared in a dark room (hi first trailer)?

Anyways, MH related...

I ordered Season 1 and 2 on DVD almost a month ago. No package. No shipping confirmation. Sent off some emails asking about it at the email listed on the Marble Hornets DVD site with no reply back.
I'm trying to be patient, I know there's a bunch of variables, but at least a single reply to one of my emails would be nice.

At this point I am finding about 10 more useful uses for my $30+ I spent. I'm trying to be positive and support the gang, I really am. But after so long and lack of communication, it's pretty irritating when your money is involved.

Also, Meyer wrote the books based on a bizarre pedophelic wet dream she had, & not even the actors can stomach it.

If you want Marble Hornets rage, I'm actually not all that excited for Entry 64 at all. The last several entries have really let me down. I keep waiting for the big Wham Episode that turns everything on its head, but it seems like the more sure I am that "this is the one," the more likely it is to be a relative Filler Episode, a la "Here are Tim's medical records, oh wait, everything that could possibly be useful was blacked out."
