Advert? ARG? Boards of Canada?
WARNING: long-ish post that might just yield utter nonsense..

Hello all, it's been awhile since I've posted on these boards, but today I bring you something that recently caught my attention.

What the hell is this?

I actually stumbled across this whole thing while researching for the Boards of Canada ARG, (http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=37454) as there was an unlisted video posted by Reforestation Area that was in the same format as the other clues given by BOC. (Their facebook page also posts a lot of BOC's music)

However, this video is just theorized to be a hoax which just makes RA even stranger.

Besides the BOC related things, the main focus of RA is about a kid who got abducted in their "park" named Trevor Applbaum. The Youtube channel even has his "abduction" video (which is in kind of a v/h/s style) and some security camera footage of him walking around.

They are also incredibly vague about everything else they post on facebook, including strange pictures (some of which make it seem like they are still in the 80's. One of them says: "WARNING! HIGH RES IMAGE 0,3MB) and random status updates. They also seem to have a rival company called "Clearwood Enterprises" which they've posted about several times.

So I seriously have no idea what this whole thing is. I even tried to message them on Facebook. There's no account of any missing toddlers named "Trevor Applebaum" anywhere (not like I expected there to any) and they never responded to my messages.

What do you guys think?

 		This is very odd, i had a gander over some of the videos (can anyone say creepy?)

I'l have a poke around later and see if i can come up with anything


(985)486 480 is supposedly the number to call if you have any info on the abduction, someone in the states should try it Razz

Edit: ive been informed by IRC peoples that that number isnt long enough to be a real phone number over there.. damn

Interesting, I live in the states so I could try out a couple different number combinations to see if I can get it to work. Where did you find the number?

EDIT:

I just re-watched the newest video on the RA channel "Aurora", and realized that it's a slowed down version of the intro to "Turquoise Hexagon Sun" by Boards of Canada.

Everything they do just confuses me even more.

its odd, it feels like it SHOULD be something.. but the fact its been going on since october and nothing big has come of it yet, is just weird.
I tried looking into the different companies/names/places.. nothing.

We dont even have a website to scour the source code...

 		Just tried calling the number/changing it to make it an actual valid number, and I got nothing but busy signals.

I'm stumped for now.

I really want this to be something, like another Redmoon Incident, but who knows.

 		Just found this on the Twoism forum. A user said that they talked to RA and they sent them this:

 		This is CREEPY. I haven't even gotten through the first video yet and the facebook page... EUGH.

However... I wonder if there is something someone can do to, like, go through the video's code or something? Maybe that static is more than just static?

Anyway, I'm not all that brave and I think I'll just give this suggestion for the moment. Maybe when it isn't 2:00 in the morning I'll Deal with the creepy as all freakout ARG.

Also, you said that you found it while looking up Canadian stuff? Did you have anyone in Canada give some rings? Or are they included under the term 'In the States' also refer to Canada?

Yeah, Boards of Canada to be specific. They're a band who recently just ran their own ARG which led up to the announcement of their new album.

Anyway, the park is supposedly in the US, and the area code of the phone number is from the US as well.

Just a theory, i've been a boards fan for le while, I was fascinated by the wearethemusicmakers forums hexagon sun collective event/thing/hunt/weirdness from a few years back, of which BOC were/are/maybe/have something to do with/members/founders/share the same planet

If the ARG isnt BOC could it be Hexagon sun? Feel free to stamp Mr Trouty McTrouterson from East Troutington on that one, just an idea.

Also stretching a bit here, but is there a similarity between the Reforestation Area logo and the BOC one (Ok ok, its a stretch because they both feature 2 trees)

I sincerely hope it's an ARG relating to BOC because it combines two of the most enigmatic concepts i've encountered.

Other than why Justin Beiber is famous, of course...

Eitherway, none of us can seem to find anything interactive to do with it, no website to scour the source code, no sign up forms, no emails.. just a facebook page and los of odd videos...

Id be on this quicker than STD's on paris hilton if i could find anything interactive in it :<
