-17 acres of pasture was purchased for the cemetery for the soldiers who fell at Gettysburg. It was at the dedication of that cemetery that Lincoln gave the Gettysburg Address.

Also. I have time tomorrow. Those look delicious. I might have to get some molasses and make me some ginger bread cookies. Maybe a bit of baking will get my brain working.

Well i'll be at your house bright and early with eggs and cinnamon!

Well, it isn't any variation of a vigenere cipher or a columnar transposition, so don't waste your time trying those.
If anyone else wants to take a stab at my approach, though, the colors divide the picture horizontally into 5 and 1 and 5. The filename is first stake.

So, is that a confirmation on solving it then?

Coffee Mostly, THX SkelJelly, for the Wiki links. Played a couple of the original games, began looking here yesterday & really needed the 'catch up'. Also....

Don't want to muddy the waters if SagaciousVainglory's system has already cracked this puzzle yet a couple of Pietro Radillo's tweets suggest he's hinting that both Abraham Lincoln & maybe his DOD are key to unlocking the grey, meridian area. Namely,...

On May 14th re Rudolf Lipschitz he tweeted (my bolding) "look at birth. Opposites attract" & on May 21st the tweet was "Recommended a few (books)... what DID I say?mm" which looks like a hint towards a day and month. Am also attracted to the 'currency' idea b/c of OQ's gingerbread clue to "Divide dough in half".

So, when talking to me, he used the word assumpten:
early 15c., assumpten "to receive up into heaven" (especially of the Virgin Mary)

After a bit of research I was lead to the Assumption of Mary. But I don't have time to research much more because I have stuff to do today. If anybody else can find anything. It'd be a great help.

I'll also post my full conversation later.

Edit: It's possible the Assumption of Mary can be related to Mary Todd Lincoln. But still, this is a loose connection that is simply through a name.

Pietro just contacted me on facebook. I don't know if there are any hints here, but if so, mention it to me? I don't really see anything of too much importance. I was a bit afraid of really asking him big questions though

PR:Hello Player.
How are you this evening?

RW:I am wonderful, and how are you?

PR:Wonderful - excellent! As for how I am - engaging with people's thoughts, enquiries and hesitations...

RW: hesitations, what would thaat be in rsponse to?

PR: People deliberating on taking part or not.

RW: why would one decline? It is not as if there is some greater necessity behind it or punishment for failure

PR: That is what some are looking for though - a need of necessity - rather than enjoyment of a game - not mine to judge, but mine to offer...

RW: that is very true, but that brings me to a greater question. what is your personal reason for creating this game?

PR: Ah - that is part of the puzzle...
That question, alongside others, will be answered... in time...

RW: I am deeply intrigued by your cipher released on sunday night
at least a cipher is what it seems to be

PR: would you REALLY like me to answer that?

RW: oh I am not asking you for help. Where would be the fun in that? I am simply saying that I am interested and working on it at the time being

PR: Good.
Other players are also online right now:
Sean, Brandon and Levi

RW: Are you suggesting that I befriend them, or merely informing me?

RW: Possibly both, or one, or neither..
[Wink]

RW: I enjoy your ways of deflection, they are wonderfully for keeping interest. In fact it is part of why I was drawn in the first place

PR: Thank you, I think.... [Wink]

RW: Oh it was a compliment, I assure you. Many do not keep the feeling alive in all aspects, and I have never been directly contacted on a personal level like this

PR: Never? That is a shame?

RW: it brings the game to life

PR: We are alive...
Both you and I - but thank you - I like the puppets to move about realistically...

RW: Well, a puppet's construction must seem realistic if to blend in properly.

PR: As must the stage - everything in proportion... or should that be moderation?!

RW: It all depends on what is suggested to be the happenings of an event. Sometimes one or the other is the required use

PR: The hour of nine has chimed in this room - thus I need to go and eat. May return at some point this evening, may not. For now, thank you for the conversation. Share with others if you want, or not. Up to you. As always. Farewell.

RW: farewell Pietro. Your company has been rather interesting. Enjoy your meal

From a Facebook chat with Pietro:

LV: Good evening, Pietro. Thank you for accepting my request!
PR: You are welcome Levi.
PR: Are you up to date with the current proceedings?
LV: I believe that I am. I haven't had the chance to sit down and do much reading lately, though.
PR: Glad you are - email myself with a simple greeting to ensure I have the best contact for you.
PR: Regarding sitting down, http://www.buddhanet.net/vmed_5.htm may assist.
PR: I offer this, nor for promotion of any thought or belief, but for enlightenment...
LV: Enlightenment is always a welcome state.
LV: And assistance towards enlightenment is even more welcome.
PR: Then sit like they recommend...
LV: Systematically, like a statue... I will remain mindful of this.
PR: You may wish to share with others, you may not. It matters me not, but others may be appreciative...
LV: Power is knowledge shared.
PR: Then bask in power...
PR: Other players are also online right now:
PR: Sean, Brandon and Richard
LV: [I have been thinking] of things related to the 16th president of an upstart nation...
PR: Others seem to be talking of him too...
LV: He does seem to be a popular subject lately. From statues to gingerbread men to dollars and cents...
PR: And: "A capacity and taste for reading gives access to whatever has already been discovered by others."
PR: The hour of nine has chimed in this room - thus I need to go and eat. May return at some point this evening, may not. For now, thank you for the conversation. Share with others if you want, or not. Up to you. As always. Farewell.
LV: One of the keys to the already solved problems?
LV: Thank you for the conversation as well. Enjoy your meal.

Thoughts to follow in an edit...

EDIT:

I threw out a reference to sitting down and reading, which was met with a link to a buddhanet article on sitting. An excerpt from that article, "...in systematic sitting for meditation you mustn't move even the hands. You should sit like a statue..." references hands, sitting, and statues. With respect to the clues that are already floating around, this brings me back to the Lincoln Memorial (it is a seated statue, and the motionless hands spell out 'A' and 'L' in sign language). This falls in line with the release date for The Stake, which has already been noted to be one year after the cornerstone was laid for the memorial.

Also, Pietro quotes Lincoln with, "A capacity and taste for reading gives access to whatever has already been discovered by others." Beyond serving as yet another connection to Abe, this almost seems to hint that the solution is out there to be found, read, and applied.

I find it curious that he used an identical sign-off line to end all of the recently posted conversations. That would suggest at least some passing significance to me.

Any thoughts?

A long time ago....

Hi all, its been a long time since i've been on here, still catching up on this as i type. here is a conversation that i've had with the illusive pietro:

Chat conversation start
Today

20:28
PR:Hello Player. How are you this evening?

Me:im good and you, just catching up on lost time

PR:Time is never lost - just misplaced...

Me:yes i suppose it is

PR: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lost_in_Time_(Doctor_Who)

Me:ahh very good, makes me think of tennant explination of time are ball of mess going round itself

PR: timeywimeywibbly stuff...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vY_Ry8J_jdw

Me:yes, if im correct it was also with the angels as well.

PR: Indeed.

Me: i see you like reading

PR: Who doesn't?

Me:some people i know but whay they hey, not everyones cup of tea

PR: "A capacity and taste for reading gives access to whatever has already been discovered by others."

Me: that is true but its also grants a great perspective on situations at hand and will also ensure we don't repeat mistakes as well.

PR: True.

ME: nowadays people are changing to be so fickle, not being able to appreciate the simpler things in life

PR: "Not all readers are leaders, but all leaders are readers."

ME: very true, depending on their taste depends on their methods.

PR: And so the same can be said of the solvers of tis first challenge...
this*

ME:i definatly feel like a white rabbit here

PR: Well Sean, your stated residence area is near a place where a golden hare was once buried...

ME: that is correct, lots of rabbits here

PR:Not wanting to push - but are you wanting to receive anything by post perchance? I ahve no details bar an email -
have*

Me:if you so desire, adding item to the inventory is always a good thing, you never know when they might come in handy

PR:Other players are also online right now:
Richard, Brandon and Levi

ME: thats is good, i should find others, larger parties are better

PR: Then use my wall to create a chat for everyone perhaps?

ME:i shall take that advice, checking on my baking as well

PR:You are cooking? Baking? Cake?
For cake, most things can be told...

ME:triple chocolate brownies are what im trying tonight but i make and amazing victoria sponge

PR: have a car,
and a hunger...

ME: it would be unfair, i'd be earning brownie points

PR:For that poor pun, I am tempted to drive to Milyon Keynes and deny you them...
Milton*
~But no address...~
So you're safe... for now...

ME:i can alsways make more, 24 hour shops are my friend

PR:...as are the brownies
May I comment that your cake looks very good...

ME:im not too bad at baking to be honest, not ones ever said a bad thing about them

PR: The hour of nine has chimed in this room - thus I need to go and eat. May return at some point this evening, may not. For now, thank you for the conversation. Share with others if you want, or not. Up to you. As always. Farewell.

ME: thank you for the conversation, it is appreciated

I know this is the whole thing and some of it seems a bit superfulus but maybe by gauging his character as well as his methods we can solve things quicker!!!

i've been talking with richard and i think we maybe focusing too much on the US side of things and im going to reel it in home, reading his comment about possible drops to me i'm hedging a bet on him being a Brit. He's quoting books and authors and telling us to go to a library and we all seem adamant on going to the museum. can we possible look at this link to and go in this direction:

http://www.lincolnbookfestival.org/lincolnbookfestival.html

in the uk there is a lovely town called lincoln, it was last held on 15/05/2011 (05/15/2011 US) it is possible if we are looking for a code its in the books themselves. Libraries arrange books via the dewy decimal system, they also have isbn numbers also release dates. it just seems we are all heading in the same direction and feel we need to take a step back and look at this from a different perspective!!

*Edit

as a side note in the text it refers to this:

The Five Mental Factors

Then here you have developed the five mental factors. The first one is mental effort, Right Effort, samma-vayama. The second is awareness or mindfulness, Right Mindfulness, samma-sati, The third is samadhi, Right Concentration. The fourth is samma-sankhappa, Right Thought. The fifth is Right Understanding, samma-ditthi. Here samma-ditthi, Right Understanding is the most important factor because it penetrates into the true nature of body-mind processes and their true nature, as they really are.

maybe abe is the right path?

*sorry for the double edit

has no one noticed on the illanio site the abe award?

http://www.islma.org/lincoln.htm
there is also a list of readers on there as well!!

http://www.islma.org/pdf/2012_Abe's_Double_Deuces.pdf

i think this might be the page we need!
