Just throwing stuff out here...

Since we have nothing definite, I'm going to throw a couple of things out here.

First, I want to say that I'm bothered by the PM using the Smiley Face murders as part of the game, especially since I lived outside of Columbus, Ohio, when two young men who were most likely victims disappeared (although they aren't usually on the list, they meet the criteria, the disappeared almost exactly nine months apart, and both of them disappeared less than half a mile from a major river; neither of them have been found).

Now that I've gotten that out of the way...

-- Could the HsubR at the top of the image be significant?

-- What about the screw? It appears to be a crosshead screw, commonly referred to as a Phillips head screw, referring to Henry F. Phillips, who designed it. It could also be a Frearson / Reed & Prince screw or a JIS B 1012 screw (which is a Japanese screw that doesn't cam out and is used on most electronics).

-- The data at the bottom of the picture seems to refer to the person from Ann Arbor. Can't quite make it all out.

EDIT: Okay, I finally went and looked at the page. Let's just disregard what I said in the stuff struck above. None of that is relevant to this solve. Sorry for being behind the curve.

Hey there, thanks for joining! I agree that linking to real victims is in poor taste. It almost seems like this "second game" is being run by a different person? Even though there was a smiley face in the original game, there was never any mention of these real missing people or a "smiley face killer."

Here's a list of things I have tried for the last answer, in case it saves anyone time.

Do we need to go deeper?

Thanks, jabroni. I was around back in the days of Urban Hunt, but I no longer have access to those email accounts or that password, so I had to re-register (can you believe that it's been almost 10 years?).

I'm wondering, considering how deep the Kurt Eisner clue was buried, if we need to look at other facts around Scot Radel's death, like where he was, where he was going and where he came from, stuff like that. All I can remember from briefly looking at the case is that it was in February 06 and he was found in the Mississippi River. I'll google the case and make a list and see if any of it pans out.

Good idea. It's tough because it takes so long to enter an answer, this time we don't know how many letters are in the solution, and the answers have always been case sensitive.

I created a Google spreadsheet we can use to keep track of everything we have tried. If anyone wants to try out some answers feel free to log it here.

Wait a minute...

I googled all the combinations of Lovetick's last posting. When
I tried "footprints radel" I got another link to a smiley face case.
Now what?

These two taken together... is it possible that the answer to this puzzle is on the Scott Radel page at this website?

I'm still going to go through my list of stuff -- some of it isn't on this page. I'll post it once I've done so.

Side notes for the Brainlock page

While my list of stuff isn't panning out (I have entered it into the Google Docs spreadsheet), I did find this..

The Latin at the bottom of the Brainlock page at first seemed to be just a standard Lorum Ipsum placeholder, but then I noticed that the second half (after Brainlock) looked strange. So I pulled the Latin from the source and ran it through Google Translate (so this may not be 100% accurate).

Latin:
Code:
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet consectetur adipisicing elit sed do eiusmod tempore inci didunt ut labore et

English:
Code:
This is really interesting but I must begin at the time of toil and brightness

Not what I expected, nor do I get how it might fit into what we have thus far.

Also, here is a list of each of the answers and the text on the corresponding button:
Code:
Q   twelve gates
14<   RHINO sealant level event
nnL*   Levy Street
G   MKUltra
Y   Farsight
O   Kurt Eisner
5   <unknown>

And one last bit of info from the page itself:
Code:
page name: gdrksvdvgughr
page title: &&&SGGGSTttsggsggsa
from the source: B r A i n l O c k

Trying to think of anything that might be relevant here.

More Smiley Face?

I've been kind of obsessed with this whole Smiley Face Murder
thing that keeps popping up. I've watched lots of YouTube
videos. Here's a few.

1. FOX News (Geraldo) – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gKstvXxVzXA
2. SisterSunshineTV – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vBsnNROm5nI
3. CNN/ABC – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5WH_0NrsiY
4. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rvwt6zQ43OE

Other than the victims, the three names that keep coming up
are Kristi Piehl, a reporter who first made the connections between the
different cases, and Gannon and Duarte, two retired NYC cops who
first suggested the Smiley Face theory.

In the comments for the 4th video somebody has written "R.H.I.N.O.".

There has to be something here!

Some meta thoughts here...

I'm going to spoiler this, just in case.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I don't think we're in Bristel Goodman anymore, Toto.

While it was a good place to start, as it seems to be a new chapter in the story, I think we're not going to see any more Bristel Goodman references. Everything we've seen since we've gotten past to bloodstreaming.com has been directly related to RHINO rather than Bristel Goodman.

The Facebook page for the Bristel Goodman documentary is gone.

The title of the Bristel Goodman documentary, I think, really is the thing that lets us know that this is no longer the same --
Bristel Goodman: Say goodbye to me.
-- that's how it's listed on IMDB, and it seems to imply that Milena Gerbicova is no longer involved, and, as such, it's gone on to something else.

Or maybe I'm just reading too much into this. Either way, I'm going to post a couple of links here outside the spoiler tag, and thanks for listening to my rant. We now return you to your regularly scheduled "What's the next freakin' password!?" discussion.

In the comments of the first video NoSubject found, MKUltra is mentioned a lot of times. It's hard to get the exact dates of the comments but it seems like the PM used that for inspiration for the puzzle since that was one of the answers.

I don't think any of those comments are in game, but that RHINO one seems like it is. In fact it was posted the same day the last puzzle was solved. It was posted by a google account with the name "Quincy Stumpf". I tried that as the answer but no luck. Maybe it's an anagram? It might be nothing but I also found that name on this petition site.

So maybe we should be looking here...

The video with the R.H.I.N.O. comment... there's a reference to a website about the Chris Jenkins case.

footprintsofcourage.com

Now, that site redirects to legacyofcourage.com, but the original site is up on the Internet Wayback Machine (this is from July 4, 2010, which is the last one that doesn't redirect):

http://web.archive.org/web/20100704184639/http://www.footprintsofcourage.com/

So I'm guessing that we're going to find our answer on one of these sites, either the archive, or legacyofcourage.com.

He guys. I'm pretty new to the arg scene, but I've read through this one and it's really intense. I want to help if I can. Just so I can be fully caught up, what are the current websites I should be looking at? You guys are so quick with this stuff it's kind of hard for me to tell what is still relevant lol.

Radio interview

Found this link at Google. When I followed it there was no "interview" there. Did anybody get to hear it?

It looks like a lot of the sites related to the podcast were taken down. I found another mirror of it that is still up here.

After listening to that interview, it made me think of good ol' Richard Ramsdell. So I checked out his site, pop57.com, to see if anything was new. Sure enough, there is a trailer for the "movie" here: http://pop57.com/dsferwe342.html

Watching this makes the whole thing make so much more sense now.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Eddie wasn't telling us the whole truth. He was webcam chatting with Nora and did know who she was. He received the video of her dying after that and went to the internet to get help.

Eddie can't find any evidence that this girl Nora is a real person, and people accuse the whole thing of being a game. So basically it wasn't really an ARG, but they needed to create a fake arg to get material for the movie.

I'm not sure why the movie took so long to finish. It looks like a lot of it was re-shot and cut together with old footage.

While I do think it is an interesting idea for a movie, it is frustrating to know we were being used and the clearly didn't care about us by never resolving anything or providing any information at all.
