Well, my first question would be who "he" is that you're referring to in your post.

I'm merely trying to illustrate that deleting blogs/vlogs accomplishes nothing and only has negative consequences for the author(loses body of work), the viewers(lose creative outlet they have been enjoying), and the mythos(a group of stories that feed off each other loses a story, it's like cutting a limb off or something).

That's my two cents.

Dude, they're agreeing with you. Some people said they deleted their blogs for lack of following, and their response was that you shouldn't worry about the following, you should worry about the story you want to tell.

When I ended my series I had 48 subscribers and I love ever single one of them. For some reason my series gained about 30 subs post-mortem and counting. Don't be discouraged, you ALWAYS have a fanbase, whether it be big or small.

Don't delete your series because then next time no one will follow you in fear that you might get discouraged again and delete your series again. You don goofed

The reason I deleted my blog was because I felt I had nobody following it at ALL.

Nobody ever commented on any posts, and nobody ever made themselves known. For all I know, NOBODY read my blog.

I'm not saying fans need to comment on every post, just once in a while would be nice. Nobody ever did, so I figured no one would miss it.

And besides, people didn't like my character's name and what he liked, so I wanted to throw that behind me.

I figured nobody cared because my work wasn't good enough.

That is why I am considering everything that I learned from when I was running my blog and from other blogs to make my podcast, and stressing over every detail, so that people will actually enjoy it.

I'm not saying that I don't respect the rights of artists to remove their work, I am simply saying that in the right context it can be viewed as a selfish decision. And deleting a series does take away from the Mythos. There are a certain number of series in the Mythos. If one is deleted, that means there is one less series in the Mythos. Which means that deletion does take away from the Mythos. That's not 'moronic', it's common sense. I'm not trying to control anything, I'm just trying to offer my thoughts on the issue without everyone acting like pricks just because someones opinions differ from theirs.

That wasn't me "attacking you", that was me giving you a factual response to your posts. I'm very sorry that you can't seem to tell the glaring difference between those two things Laughing
Calling creators selfish and obnoxious (like you did) for deleting their works IS actually "attacking" someone, so really please save yourself some face and stop trying to quibble with me about what you posted, k?
Try offering your thoughts in a manner that isn't argumentative and controlling sometime, it may amaze you what responses you get.
P.S If that's your idea of common sense, please keep it to yourself?

big quote block! It's okay, I promise we'll get through it together...

DISAGREE! and alex? I'll be more bold and less tactful with my declarations- it is selfish for creators to delete their creations in the context of the slenderverse (with the exception of in-game purposes).

Choosing to work with this character automatically positions you within a larger narrative network, but let's set that aside for a moment. Working with a project as intensive and interactive as some of these projects get, a creator is asking more from a viewer than just passive viewer-ship. In return, the viewer should be afforded a certain level of respect. I don't mean that creators need to be going around pandering to people for views, I just mean that they need to be diligent and sure that they are putting their best efforts into whatever they make BEFORE trying to command someone else's attention.

In this community, it isn't uncommon for viewers to sometimes shape some minor plot trajectory with their interaction, nor is it uncommon for creators to sometimes be removed from the effect their work might have on people (remember, just because no one is responding or commenting doesn't mean there's no one watching, some people take a lot of pushing before opening their mouths).

If anyone DIDN'T want their version of slenderman to be /somehow/ related or interconnected to a larger schema, it wouldn't be slenderman. They'd make a fresh creature/ghost/being, whatever.

However unpopular all that sentiment might be, I just urge creators to respect their audiences (however stupid, perverse, trollish, etc they might sometimes act, just think of that shy person standing in the corner who's having some unexpected revelatory experience you might have no clue about), and not act so myopic as to selfishly destroy their own work. NEVER be ashamed of how silly or sophomoric your origin might be, just own it and move on.

apologies for writing a rambling book.

ps- as much as I would like to shut-down the bickering that's happening in this *discussion*, I want to point out to both of you quoted how very important discussion is to creators, even the private ones sometimes relish people hashing out their crap, IN THE NAME OF SCIENCE, BICKER ON!

I apologize if I came off as argumentative. This was not my intention. I am only trying to share my opinions on the issue at hand. I have to ask though, when did I call anyone obnoxious?

I just want to clarify, I don't care about popularity. I'm not trying to be the next great ARG writer or whatever. If you try to do that you set yourself up for failure right there.

I would just like more people to actively read and comment on the work I do. It's kind of desolate when you have about 300 views and one whole comment on 20+ blog posts.

So, what happens if Youtube deletes an old Vlog because it has inactivity but still causes traffic? That seems sort of innapropriate.

I wonder if users are allowed to transfer creators' work onto other horizons, with due credit too?

For example, The hypothetical transfer of TribeTwelve to Vimeo (with the creator's permission/credit?)

I wouldn't even bother. I mean if they wanted their videos in other places, wouldn't they do it themselves? Although I guess it wouldn't hurt to ask them and find out.

All information to the Slenderverse can be considered vital, especially when the info comes from one of the more famous vlogs/blogs.
If not vital, then some knowledge.

For what it's worth, I don't think any of the deleted series were deleted by YouTube, so that's a red herring. My playlists include channels that haven't had any activity for like two years and they're still right there. All of the deleted channels that I'm aware of were deliberately deleted by their creators.

I actually touched upon this about a week ago on the master list's blog (right here).

Honestly, there have been some good reasons as to why some blogs/vlogs have been wiped/deleted, but it's be nice and appreciated if the creators backed up their work on another blog/channel/document/etc. so that people can read/watch them.

You have no idea just how many dead links and empty blogs and vlogs there are... And, going through my list, there are a decent amount, which is saddening :c

People will read your blogs and watch you vlogs, you just have to give it time. You guys can't just instantly assume that, since you only have one follow (that isn't me), that your work is unappreciated. I do my best with trying to promote blogs/vlogs on the master list and on Oh Snap! Slender Man, but I usually work with people helping me to promote, too. But, keep writing, even if you only have one or two readers/watcher, it doesn't matter, as long as you're having fun writing and filming, it shouldn't really matter :p

So, please, just keep your blogs and vlogs around, there are a lot of people that appreciate all of the blogs and vlogs and want to watch and read them all Very Happy

Posted this the other day in the creator's group. Don't give up when not many people like your series. Just keep on trucking, even if there are flaws!

I noticed the author of Eldest K hasn't posted in a while. I actually liked it.
