OK, the video is kinda funny. I called the number listed, and you hear Bill's voice. I did not leave a message.

I also went looking for meta information. Heh.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I think your initial post is on the mark, based on the meta info I found.

I recognized that last gnome coming from The Mole (the last season).

Ah, I miss that show.

Weird thing is that this really did happen to someone around here. A couple years ago an old couple had there gnome stolen and they sent pics back of it. After 18 months the gnome was returned. It just appeared on their door step with a diary of his travels. Was weird!

I heard this site on the news on WABC a couple of days ago. I know they said the name of the people running it, but I didn't pay attention untill they said the name of the site. One of the hosts was talking about how he was seeing signs for it pop up all over Manhattan...

EDIT: Probably run by McKinney + Silver

Just in the last couple of weeks a couple from Austin had a Santa gnome stolen from their front yard, and have received pictured of it at Graceland, Opryland, the Texarkana city limits sign, the Dallas city limits sign, and the Welcome to Virginia sign.

Stolen Gnome appears on a movie as well. I guess it was "The Fabulous Destiny of Amelie Poulain" (2001), but I'm not sure.
The girl steals his father's gnome and gives it to an airplane-hostess friend of her who takes photos of the gnome everywhere and sends the photos back to the father to make him happy.

Yeah, I mentioned that in the beginning of the thread, although I was rather oblique.

This is basically what I gathered, meta-wise:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Basically, the WHOIS info leads us to an address of a building which not only houses an ad agency, but that very same agency does marketing for Travelocity. So, who knows? It still may not be connected as an official campaign, but the link is definitely there. Googling the name on the WHOIS gives mention of someone by the same name being involved in advertsising/marketing/design, so.

I think the video is pretty cute, although obviously fake - definitely not 'immersive,' as it's poking fun at itself the whole way.

The phone message is cute, too.

yep

Yeah, as soon as I saw that video - I was saying it to myself as well:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
This has GOT to be affiliated with Travelocity!

It's really pretty funny - setting up travel photos this way...
