January 6, 2004
I finally got Jake in to see a psychiatrist. I waited anxiously for 2 hours while they spoke. The doctor is unable or unwilling to discuss Jake with me. At all. Patient privacy is a wonderful thing, but my Lord, this is my husband, the father of my unborn child, the man I chose to spend the rest of my life with. He's losing his mind and his grasp on reality, and that doctor is going to let me stand there and watch it happen. I begged him all the way to the parking lot to talk to me. He just gave me that smug little smile and climbed into his big silver Mercedes and drove off. Into the sunset, ironically. Exit, stage left.
Jake won't go anywhere with me, but slips out of the house alone and is gone for hours. Where's he going? I don't know.
As if that weren't enough, Dad's slipping away from me too. His neighbor called me this morning to tell me that he saw Dad outside looking confused. He was trying to walk to the store, but couldn't remember how to get there. In the 40 degree weather.
Dad talks a good talk on the phone, but I'm afraid he also needs help. I'm going up there for a while to look after him.
What's next?

I think Jake just met Reggie's old Doctor.

It certainly looks that way. which may mean he is part of the group that is on the opposite side... whatever that may be...

I sent a message I sent a message to Mehgan. Hopefully, this will be informative and helpful. I am most interested in who this doctor is.
Here is the message.
My name is Nash Carey. I am currently in Iraq, but a long time resident of Catalina. I have been reading your blog, and had a suddenly strange coincidence occur. I also saw a therapist a about a year ago while I was home to see my step-father who has frontal tempral lobe dementia (much like alzhiemers). He was telling me about my father and told me if I needed to talk to get a hold of him. He also drove a silver Mercedes. I just cannot remember his name for the life of me. Probably just the war wearing on me. Do you know him or a way I can reach him so I can find out more information? Does he have a web site?
NASH

Re: I sent a message Wouldn't hold my breath. I sent her an e-mail about a week ago, and haven't heard anything. Maybe when she gets back from her dad's house, though.

Okay, so the shrink's name is rodsild. The best i can come up with now is that it is an anagram for DIS LORD, dis being the lord of the underworld in roman myth (see http://www.britannica.com/eb/article?eu=31110&tocid=0&query=dis&ct= ).
IN KAHLEEFONYAH, THEY SAY, "PASTA LA VISTA, BAGEL"

She wrote back...
Dear Nash,
First of all I would like to say God bless you on your mission in Iraq.
It is people like you who make people like me safe and sound at home, and we are forever in your debt.
The doctor Jake went to see was Dr. Rodsild. I don't think he has a
website that I know of. I hope you don't take your step-father in to see
him. He's a sour man with a horrible bedside manner, and I can't imagine
him helping anyone at all other than his own pocketbook. I'm sorry your
step-father is having difficulty. That's a hard thing for anyone to go
through, and being on the other side of the world from the one you're
worried about certainly doesn't help!
Stay safe over there and come home to us when you're able. You are a
hero, always remember that!
Sincerely,
Meg

Anagram I noticed another anagram is
RIDDOLS -which while not spelled correctly could be pronounce as "Riddles"
Maybe I am grasping at straws here.

But you are thinking, and thinking is always good! I'm not handing over the trophy for wild tangents I got from CTW, so if they want to give one to you for Acheron, they will have to get a new one. The display case for mine just arrived yesterday.

Yeah, I noticed the RIDDOLS too, but I figured everything is sort of a riddle, right?
What I still need to chase down is the coyote on the license plate. To my knowledge (and the best I could do with stupid google) is that it is not an arizona plate, but may be a wildlife plate or a plate from europe. Any ideas on the license plate?
WHEN MEGHAN STARKEY NEEDS A SHOULDER TO CRY ON, SHE CALLS PASTABAGEL.

Not all states use two plates: Florida only uses one plate on the back, which means the front one is just a decoration. I think Reggie said that it had no numbers just a slo... sillio... a cutout of a howling coyote.
My name is Magesteff and I cannot spell without a checker program.

Oh, ok, so the coyote is probably just a symbol. I chased down that in the American Southwest indian folklore, coyote is a trickster who stole fire from the gods. http://www.ilhawaii.net/%7Estony/lore06.html
However, there is a northwest indian creation story about coyote, in which the Creator designates coyote as the guardian of all other creatures of creation. Coyote becomes immortal. See http://www.crystalinks.com/nativeamcreation2.html and scroll down to "Chelan". This is similar to the story of the 5 fallen angels who were initially appointed to watch over the world but then became corrupted.
