How important is the ending of Marble Hornets to you?

With this being the final season and all the ending is imminent.

Hopefully the ending will be amazing and brilliant. We can only hope so.

What if the ending sucks?

What if the ending is open ended?

What if there are many questions left unanswered?

Will it ruin the series for you? Will it leave a bad taste in your mouth? Or will you just look back and say that it was a fun ride?

Re: How important is the ending of Marble Hornets to you?

It would effectively ruin the series for me. I would still look back fondly on the time before the story was ruined, but a bad ending is pretty much the worst thing that can happen to any kind of story.

I can purposefully ignore plot holes, I can get past bad acting, poorly written dialogue can be overcome; but, a bad ending can easily retroactively make the entire story/series/film unbearable.

That said, I don't mind open-ended endings (I am a huge fan of The Twilight Zone -- the Rod Sterling version, not that other crap). And, I prefer a few questions to be unanswered. Tying everything up nicely always feels too forced and can damage my immersion in a story.

The mystery/horror genre tends to depend on at least some questions being answered, so I don't think a terribly open ending will be good for it. Most people read/watch mystery for the thrill of finding out how it's solved. I'm pretty sure there will just be certain things that will never be answered but I think the characters will need some resolution.

I think this is a great little series, and I definitely enjoyed it. I also can't deny that it's played a big part in my life. However, if the ending goes horribly wrong then I will be pretty bummed. I don't want to bring people through marble hornets and then the ending just winds up being irritating. Although I don't think that will happen. I'm pretty sure their ending will be tightly planned.

I can see a crappy ending being a deal breaker. The ending COULD make or break if this series stands the test of time.

If the ending sucks, it won't ruin the whole series for me. I'll just pretend the last entry never existed, and that actually, Jay never posted again and it's implied he got killed.

Although, if the actual ending is "Jay never posted again and it's implied he got killed," I'll be disappointed. But, I trust Troy and Joseph. They've planned this ending since before season 2 started. I don't think it'll be some pretentious bullshit, I really think they know what they're doing. And honestly, I might be biased, but I haven't been disappointed by Troy or Joseph thus far. I've really liked the series.

I'll need some answers for sure. What happened to Jessica and Amy, for instance. I'd like something on what called The Operator to Alex, Tim, and the others, but I could see them leaving it unexplained.

What I want most is for the characters--at least for Jay, Tim, and Alex--to have a resolution, whether it's that they're definitively killed off, or they live, or what.

I'd say it would affect me medium. It's not about the destination, but the journey, etc. etc. blah blah blah. I get the feeling that this season will be 2-arc instead of 3, and that the going into the tunnel will be a major turning point or something along those lines, and honestly I'd be okay with just an epilogue or some such video as the ending, as long as other stuff has happened beforehand.

They said it won't be open ended or end on a climax. The ending is pretty damn important if I'm going to keep annoying people into watching it.

Hey, if the ending's bad, we'll just harass Troseph until they release Marble Hornets Season 3: Extended Cut.

The only way I can see MH ending is one crazy entry where a lot of people die and the operator is 'defeated' followed by an entry with Jay talking to the camera and thanking us for supporting him throughout this crazy adventure.

Now how I want it to end is different matter: Pretty much the same (Jay talks to us) but the operator should still be somewhere in the back without Jay noticing him, letting us know that he can't be defeated and will always be lurking in the shadows.

Troy said they wouldn't leave a bunch of questions unanswered, so I have faith. I would definitely like to know who Hoody is, where Jessica is, if Brian and Seth are alive, where Amy is, etc.

The ending is important to me. If it's a bad ending it could change the whole feeling of the series for me. I don't want an ending too open-ended, but if it ends with Jay talking to the camera and saying everything's all good now or whatever, that'll be disappointing as well.

I don't know though. We'll see what happens.

Nah man. Right as Jay says the last line of the entry, a little line tare at the bottom of the screen happens.

I'm dubious about Jay though. He's our "narrator" (probably not the right word) but that doesn't mean we can trust him. Ever since the TTA video "Return" I've been expecting Jay to have some major twist relating to him. He's had blackouts...he's been in contact with Slender Man with ambiguous consequences at least 2 or 3 times.

This is definitely something to keep in the back of your head.

Slowly we're starting to learn more about the fates of the other cast members, but Jay stays out of these revelations, as if nothing ever happened to him. Brian, Tim, and Seth have all had a nasty run-in with Alex (all at that abandoned hospital, too...).

It seems like Jay came out of the whole thing unscathed save for some memory loss. Alex includes him in the list of people who are "gone" (still don't know what to make of that whole thing).

I agree with you that there's *something* about Jay we've yet to learn.

Where did they say it wouldn't end on a climax?
