The Operator Symbol (Batshit insane theory)
(X)

We all know the Operator Symbol, and we all know that it's supposed to represent Slender Man's lack of a face. But what we don't know, at least yet, is what it's purpose is. M, in the Tutorial, claims that it acts as an eye and makes it so Slender Man can't follow you (Or something similar. It's been a while since I've read any of old M.), but I don't think that's right, at least within the context of Marble Hornets. I speculate, though I don't have much evidence to support it, that the Operator symbol draws Slender Man to the person who is in possession of it. Now, my evidence for this, firstly, is Jay. Return, the TTA response to Entry 19, was the first instance that we know of where Slendy seems to be stalking Jay. A bit before this (Entry 16), Jay came into possession of two drawings, one of which had the Operator symbol on it. This, if my theory is correct, is what drew Slendy to him and gained him His attention. Secondly would be Alex, sort of. In the footage from Entry 26, it is widely believed that the camera is what drew Slim Jim to Alex and his blonde friend's home. I, personally, agree with this conclusion, based on Alex's response to seeing the camera and that Slendy seemed to appear almost immediately after the girl filmed Alex. Now, on to how this relates to my theory. During the hiatus between the first and second season of Marble Hornets, three pictures were posted on Jay's twitter by an unknown source, believed to be TTA. The first of these showed what appears to be a drawing of a camera with the lense in the form of an Operator symbol.

Anyway, as I said, this is a batshit insane theory, and if I'm wrong, prove it. I'm more concerned with finding truth then with always being right.

TL;DR, Operator Symbol attracts Slender Man.

Thanks for posting this four seconds after I realized how many things in my house look like Operator symbols. No sleeping for me. Shocked

It was my pleasure.

By the way, don't look behind you.

Interesting. One theory I always liked is that the operator symbol represents Slenderman and can be used in the same way as an outline of a duck or a deer, sort of a "Slenderman Crossing, don't film here" warning sign.

I have always thought that it was a zero with an X through it, as in "Dial 0 for an (the) Operator."

I've always seen it as a camera lense with a cross on it. A warning not to film Slender Man.

Its an interesting theory, and would explain why in E13 there is a symbol on the pavement, followed closely by an Operator encounter. I've always wondered who put that there, and if your theory is correct, it would probably have been Alex who drew it, to summon the Operator.

However I'm more inclined to view it as a ward or blinding device. It often appears on or nearby things that one wouldn't want the Operator near, such as the red tower, the safe combination note, the "Help" request near the end of E26, many TTA videos, etc., etc., all of which are or contain messages from one character to another.

Truly there doesn't seem to be a consistent pattern to its use, making hard to validate or discount any theory about the symbol.

Almost certain it's this. Hence the "smile for the camera" pic with an X over the lens.

Not to be rude/shoot down your ideas, but what M from The Tutorial thinks is irrelevant, Marble Hornets is self-contained, other slendyblogs have no bearing.
