Yeah. Just imagine a future where people will be like "Whoa, have you seen this thing called marble hornets? It's pretty crazy that they made a whole series based on an indie game!"...oh god.

Ugh, are you sure that hasn't happened yet?

Most people associate Slenders with the game, since PewDiePie played it. (And every other hipster game in existence that is now mainstream)

Also. I played the game. Extremely scary. I couldn't grab the first page since I was shaking with fear. My brother said that HE comes when you get the first page, but I didn't trust him. He had told me to enter the bathrooms (was there a page there? I don't know) since it was "safer". Only recently did I learn that it's a prime death spot.

From what I understand about the gameplay:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
1. Slenderman is a constant presence. He starts out far away from you, & gradually creeps towards you. But when he's a certain distance from you, he can teleport in front of you.
2. There are 10 landmarks that the pages can appear on, randomly.
3. Grabbing a page makes Slenderman adapt to your location faster.

I don't know how the bath house is counted--if the whole thing is 1 landmark, or if there are other, separate points inside of it. I found a page stuck to the outside of it once.

Whatever the case, I would assume that pages can appear inside, otherwise there would be no point in going in there.

Honestly, having Slender pop up everywhere, reminds me of the KONY 2012 movement. Not in a good way, seeing how Slenderman is...

And Parsec, amazing job on the game.

As for you 20dollaz... You troll.

EDIT: UberHaxorNova is now one of the people who is playing Slender.

And seeing how Nova has more popularity than Pewdiepie (I love them all, even Toby), we might be going for a second bombspread.

I learned 2 things from my most recent playthrough:

1. The "running sideways" thing was my bad. I had accidentally set middle mouse to do both "go left" & "sprint."

2. When Slenderman is chasing you, don't turn around to search a car.

4 pages.

My record is 3 pages. And now I have to deal with fog.

I decided to play this again to check out the new updates.

I have come to the conclusion that this is more of a game that I want to appreciate from afar than it is one that I want to actually play...

I just can't beat 6 pages. I lose near-instantly at that point no matter what. Within seconds of getting page 6 he'll either suddenly warp in front of me and it's over. Or, he'll be so close behind that I automatically turn around and lose. Even if I turn around with the intention of seeing him to get the speed boost, he's so close that I'll lose anyway. And I'm convinced it's impossible without that speed boost. Can't understand how all the complete walkthroughs on youtube do it outside of ridiculous luck.

Sad

Well, the thing that you need to remember is that those walkthroughs are of previous versions. I don't think any of those are for V1.6. This version is probably more difficult.
I say "probably" because I haven't had time/will to play it yet.

Pretty awful at this game and it also ran pretty slowly at first, but more than anything I'll bet that's my computer's fault. Great job.

The people that are complaining about their dear Slender Man going to the mainstream are terrible, fyi - don't you realize that not so long ago Something Awful all said the same thing about unfiction? You don't have some birthright to the character, calm down.

Wait, what speed boost?

My biggest problem is that I get blinded by the static, & then I don't know which direction to run.

^When you hear that loud, jumpy "DUNNN!" sound when he's in your view and quite close you get an adrenaline rush and can run faster for a few seconds

I believe the game is getting harder every update. They are, however, being huge improvements.

I've changed my mind about certain things since 0.9.1, but I still have complaints:
-pointing flashlight down when jogging. For sprinting, it's realistic. Hell, the light could even bounce everywhere or the flashlight could even drop in case the player accidentally left-clicks the mouse during the piano stab; for jogging, it just doesn't work, specially with the new «swings back up in front of you a little bit slower than before». Might as well turn the flashlight off when jogging, it'll even save battery life.
-the lack of a "Collect page" keyboard input.

Other than that, I repeat: The updates are products of great improvement. Congratulations, AgentParsec and team.

Which I can use to run straight into the Slenderman?

Maybe I'm strange, but I actually think that the gameplay is more-or-less solid, & I'd actually like some story. I realize this isn't supposed to be Lord of the Rings, but I think some handwave about where these pages came from & why I'm collecting them here would be interesting.

Except for a pause menu. That is something I would really enjoy.

I've been thinking about how to improve all of that. I think you're right that dropping the flashlight while jogging is no longer necessary, but I need some sort of visual reminder that the player is jogging, otherwise players will hold shift and never let go (in practice, people did this a lot).

As for a pause, I might implement a pause that only works when there is no static. That way you can't pause in response to seeing SM.
