I just registered just to get to comment on the game. It's awesome!

There were some people who wanted a way to fight the Slender Man, but I love how vulnerable you are. In almost all games you know you can survive, fight back and win - I love how this is not true with Slender. It's just you against him and you can't do anything - you can run but you can't run forever. Your only weapon is your basic instinct of survival.

I know this has been suggested before, but I would love to see some new maps. I don't know much about making games but I believe it wouldn't be too hard to add some maps, preferably in different environments. Is there any way the community could create maps for you using the Unity tools?

Another thing I would love to see would be support for the virtual reality headset John Carmack demoed in E3 and QuakeCon: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1523379957/oculus-rift-step-into-the-game. I know it can't happen too soon because the headset won't be available for a while, but I think Slender would be a perfect game for it. As if Slender wasn't scary enough as it is, the boost in immersiveness (assuming the device works as well as they say) would turn Slender from a game into something you could use for torture. Unity engine should support the device too, so making it compatible should be relatively easy.

I know this post sounds like viral marketing or something. That wasn't my intention, I would just really want to see Slender on the VR headset.

Are you planning on releasing the game on different platforms? I believe Unity should be compatible with a number of platforms. Even without any changes, I believe the game could be quite successful on the Xbox or Playstation marketplaces (whatever they were called). You could make a port for Android and iOS too, but I doubt the game would work very well on small screens. I just don't see myself getting immersed playing on a 3"-10" screen.

There is never going to be an actual physical fight with Slendy. It's just not his MO. You try and fight him then you suddenly blackout and either end up dead or laying in some area unaware of how you got there. That's about it.

On the map, it is gorgeous. Sometimes, if I know I have a hike to the next landmark, I like to point the camera up to the sky & stargaze. Not a lot of games pay attention to the sky.

Still doesn't work great on my computer, but my brother's laptop runs it a bit better. I'm trying to keep up with each update that's posted, kind of like a vlog! I'd love to see an urban location added in the future. Some of the early photoshops took place in industrial areas, so that might work as a nice callback.

Great work, Parsec!

I like how tall the new model is. However, I agree it seems, cartoony, that is likely do to lack of texturing, I suggest making the model look more, human?

When you first see slendy he seems like just a guy in a suit, then you notice creepy things that make him inhuman, his slightly longer arms and legs, the lack of face, his unnatural movement, and the waving that may just be tentacles. If you could capture this effect in his model, you would be perfect. Though honestly, with how you have your game setup, you could use almost any model and still make everyone scared shitless by the end.

I like the idea of you getting more speed the more pages you get. Since your heart is racing, you know you have a chance, and your character is getting more confident (even if you're a nervous wreck).

I still think being able to see at least a little bit without your flashlight on would be nice. Maybe add some form of "ghost slendermen" when you don't have the flashlight on. Like it'll look like he's behind a tree, but when you flip on the flashlight he disappears? Basically a static model that only appears without light.

However, maybe add a "second chance" like ability. In a completely desperate situation, you can run headlong into slenderman and attack him. As you run into him his tentacles appear, and he does the head tilt. Then the screen blacks out for a bit, you hear your character coughing. You stand up from the floor, all the pages you collected to that point are scattered about you. You find that you were teleported to an area far away from where you attacked slendy. You can pick up all the pages and try and get whatever ones are left. However now you have a debilitating cough that slows your movement speed occasionally. Maybe you suffer from hallucinations, causing you to see things like trees with tentacles, faces in the forest. Or something similar, but not so complicated. This way you could give your self a second chance if you screw up, even if it's a slim chance. This would also be a nod to the attempts people have made in pretty much every series to attack slenderman.

That model's looking pretty damn good so far. Tilting the head would be cool, maybe you could add some faint pinstripes on his suit or something. Also, you may have said this before, but what program are you using to make Slender? Is it unity?
And I like KTSteve's idea for the desperation attack thing. The 'ghost slenderman' idea could work well, too, if executed right.

Not sure about the "second chance" thing one way or another, but if you did do it, something that might be neat is to make it seem like the game ends/crashes every time you run into Slenderman...only, some small percentage of the time, the game actually continues, only with some kind of penalty, like your stamina &/or battery have been drained by an unknown amount.

I don't really like the flashlight idea. Making the area more visible seems to make the game too easy, & the static slenderman seems to make it too hard.

Yeah, I figured the second chance thing would be a one time only deal. The penalty would be the cough slowing your movement speed. Again I'm not sure if it's necessary to have, but may be good for the people saying the game is to hard, without making it too easy.

With the static slendermen I was more trying to think of a way to create the "omg, is that slenderman or a tree" effect, without making his friend have to create a bunch of custom tree models.

Also, newest pet peave, slenderman does not have a pinstriped suit. He is an eldrich horror who does his best to look human. He doesn't pay attention to detail, plain tie, plain suit, plain shirt, plain pants and plain "face".

Pinstriped suit seems cool to me, but it's probably because I love wearing suits, and like the idea of a more Human-like Slender Man. Of course, this game has a more eldritchee Slender Man, so it probably wouldn't work as well. Fun to think about though.

As for the model, I'm agreeing with 99% of the other posters and saying that it needs to look less exaggerated and, ironically, a bit more Human. The torso should be shorter, the arms need to be thicker, and and it's legs should be longer and thicker. Kind of like The Operator:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Because I'm an idiot, I can't figure out how to link this properly.

Mobile Slendy

First of all, I must say that I finally play v0.9.6 a few minutes ago. I couldn't do it. I had completely forgotten how slow the character is, and how much that adds to the fear factor. Even windowed, I was scared crazy.

Second of all, I have a suggestion. I realize that this would most likely take more programming and may or may not be added to the game.
I find it scariest when Slendy is walking. For example, in Marble Hornets. Or near the end of The Angel's Game Part 2. In both, I just find a visibly walking Slendy to be much more frightening.
Again, I realize that adding this probably won't be possible. But it is a suggestion nonetheless.

I feel like I'm sounding really nitpicky on the suggestion here, but having it be a one time deal feels kind of...gimmicky. Like an extra life, or something. The random chance thing is kind of like, maybe it'll happen 3 times in a row, maybe it won't happen at all in 10 games. Kind of like it's up to the fates to decide what happens to you.

Anyway, Slenderman does walk. If you run into him around a corner, say in the bath house, you might see it. It's highly disturbing.

I kind of agree about the proportions, but I retract my earlier statement about the skin tone. The contrast of the white on the background both makes him scarier & easier to see.

The only reason I suggested a pinstriped suit is because the rest of the environment in the game is so much more detailed.

The character is video game slow. Like, he's slower than what you expect to deal with in a game, but his pace is realistic.

Wait....is that large tree to the left of your starting position supposed to have those un-naturally waving branches now? D:

That's a bug (albeit a really creepy bug). When I added the wind to rustle the leaves, I forgot to go back and set the branches of that tree not to be affected by wind.

I must say, it looks really cool that way. I'd understand if you'd want to fix that bug, after all, it is your game. However, I think it would be cool if you add tiny stuff like that in the next update to add to the atmosphere. I think it would add to the re-playability to search for tiny little details like that.

I mean, I know I would be pretty creeped out if I seen a tree bend like that.

As for the new Slender Man model, I have to agree with everyone else about stretching the legs more and shrinking the torso. Other than that, it seems that the game is turning into such an amazing piece of art for just a beta.

I know, I keep wondering to myself, "What is going to separate it from the full version"?

Speaking of details, are the tunnel & the red tower Marble Hornets references? Are there references to any other series in the game?
