Okay. Something new has just popped up. It's called Sanatorium, and I can't tell if it's a ripoff or a tribute to Slender.

It's basically the same game, only it takes place in an abandoned bunker. You need to find 8 pages just like in Slender, but it looks like you get a gun.

YouTube: Link

I've tried to download it, but I get the 404 error message whenever I click the link. Also, I feel like I'd be betraying Parsec if I did play it.

The creators of this game give Parsec full credit. Even during the game's intro. I believe they intend it as a tribute.

"This game is based off of the indie game 'Slender' by Mark J. Hadley (AgentParsec). It shares the same gameplay elements as the original - you must collect 8 pages while avoiding the enemy. This is not intended to be a copy - simply a way for people who loved Slender to be able to face their fear on a different map with the same awesome gameplay. There are some differences which will make playing a somewhat unique experience - different AI, new sounds, and a different environment. Enjoy!"

I did a playthrough of this game to get ready to play SLENDER. What? I'm building up to it with baby steps...

Intended as a tribute or not, they certainly didn't ask my permission...

Random thought: What if you joined forces? It seems unfair that they'd do something like this without permission, but maybe if you get in to contact with them, you could pull Sanatorium from the web and combine the two games. It would admittedly save a lot of trouble, and you'd get a bigger team out of it.

Even if this game was a sneaky thing to do, it would be a shame to let an opportunity get away.

Fair enough. I was only answering what their stance is based on what was written in their website. I am sorry if I struck a cord. I didn't meant to. I can imagine that the MH guys felt similar when new series started coming out.

According to them, no, but there's a pretty big difference here. New series started very soon after MH, & were quite different, both by design & by necessity. These guys essentially ripped off the whole concept of Parsec's game after he did a lot to develop it. They can call it a tribute, but that is not what a tribute is, & it is overall not a cool thing to do. It may very well be that there was no ill will intended, but even so, that's a really rookie mistake that should not have been made.

As far as playing the game goes, that's up to personal judgment. I don't really feel any drive to play it even if Parsec gives it the okay, so.

As for the model, I feel like the arms could be a tad thinner, just a little thicker than his wrists. Other than that, I think the proportions are pretty spot-on.

Well if Parsec feels as strongly about this situation then I certainly hope he contacts them. This is the email address given on their website: MARCSTEENESPLATYAHOO.CO.UK

I didn't even know. But I think it would be great if someone designed a game where you could fight Slenderman. That's obviously something that people are interested in, yet not something that really works for this game.

No.
SLENDERMAN CANNOT BE FOUGHT
I thought this had been established by the amount of vlogs.
fuck interest. most of the people who've been desperately into slender have been morons, as good as the game may be.
Don't cater for morons. Instead make a game that points people to the actual mythos or something.

Well, I am interested. No matter how good a game is, I don't want to play copies of it indefinitely. I want to see other designers experiment with new ideas for the genre, even if they don't work out great.

That doesn't mean I want to see Slenderman: The Hack & Slash. Nor does it mean I'll lose any sleep over it if it happens.
