Everybody associates Slender Man with Marble Hornets. In fact, "Marble Hornets" is more of a keyword than "Slender Man". While the misconception is annoying, and Pewdie Pie is annoying, Pewdie Pie contributes relatively little to the misconception. It has always been around and it will always be around.

I tried to explain it. I posted a comment explaining a bit about the origin of slendy. The thing is, the comment just gets drowned instantly anyway.

Okay, you know what happened here? AgentParsec made a Slender Man game. A really good Slender Man game which managed to gain the attention of people not deeply involved in the Mythos. And you are upset about this. When did introducing new people to Slender Man become a bad thing?

So what if they don't know about Victor Surge or any other series? If they want to go on thinking that Marble Hornets created Slender Man, fine with me. They can keep watching their Marble Hornets, I can keep writing my shit, EVERYONE'S HAPPY!

And it's pretty unlikely that every series will suddenly be getting swarms of pewdie fans harassing them for being Marble Hornets ripoffs. Sorry to break this to y'all, but apart from the big three, you're all kinda obscure. Anyone willing to put in the effort needed to find your series has likely read at least one article on Slendy (be it TVTropes, KnowYourMeme, one of the informative blogs, etc.) which directed them to the rest of the verse. Rarely do viewers just happen to stumble upon Slendervlogs/blogs; if they found them, it's because they were looking for them, and if they were looking for them, it's because they had at least a basic awareness of the verse.

Though it's true that an overabundance of poorly made vlogs/blogs has always been an issue in the verse, who are you to decide we shouldn't let these people in to create their own stories? Yeah, most of them will be bad. Most of them are always bad; that's a given in any amateur community. On the other hand, some of them could be pretty damn good. Wanna know the best way to encourage original ideas and creativity? Letting new people in. They bring in fresh perspectives, and even if most of them have shitty ideas, if you throw enough people at something at SOMEONE is going to come up with a genuinely new idea.


I've been in this 'verse for almost two years now. And for those two years, every single time the Slender Man has been spread to people not already part of the Mythos, there's always been some people inside the Mythos freaking out and claiming that any day now we'd all be overrun by all the stupid noobies. And you know what? This horde of newfags I keep hearing about still hasn't show up. We get new people, some awesome, some annoying, but the Mythos hasn't been destroyed by them. And I really doubt that this incident is going to be the one that really does it and manages to destroy the whole verse. Getting a bunch of stupid new people? That's just an annoyance which is easily dealt with. What's really toxic to a community is when it becomes so close minded that its members begin to believe that only people already within the community are capable of creating worthwhile content or appreciating the setting.

Now get off your high horse, get back in your chair, and play the (really frikkin' awesome) game that this thread is supposed to be about.

 		So the biggest pieces of feedback I've gotten so far are the following:

1. Slender Man needs to look better. Already working on it.

2. The player can't sprint for very long. That was by design, but I might lengthen it slightly, or at least allow max stamina to recover at a slow rate.

3. Needs a menu. Once I figure out how to do it in Unity, I will put one in.

4. Considering putting in a crude map that you can look down to read.

some light video distortion perhaps?

Overall I really like the game, tried playing without the flashlight, seems no matter what after three notes he pops up in front of me and I lose. Is the flashlight required to survive? If so when does the battery run out, is there a time limit?

Still haven't found all 8, managed to get to 6 before he slenderfucked me.

If the flashlight is off, your effective distance to SM is doubled when calculating static build (so it builds slower). In addition, his deviation is increased when jumping, making it harder for him to jump directly towards you. ("Jump" meaning a short-range pursuit teleport). However, normally he can't teleport within a certain distance, so that you always have a chance to evade him; with the flashlight off, he can.

Actually I kinda like that, its like he starts yelling at you with the static "No game for you!"

makes it a little more real when he catches you
