Think Tank: History Repeating Itself

It appears that everything from the first timeline is being repeated in the secons one, a few years later, with one exception... Jake doesn't work with the Professor.

Evidently the Professor finally had the breakthrough because NRU is being built. Reggie's blog shows that he is now on his way... And in the first timeline we were told that Reggie remembered the area BEFORE the campus was built, he was never on campus. I think Becker will be showing up shortly as will the professor.

It looks like the universe is trying to balance itself out again. I would guess that things are going to get very interesting. Smile

What was it Reggie said in the beginning "You can't reset the pieces." Looks like we may get to play this as it is.

Other history

We saw Cypher-Systems, the comercial venture of Acheron... was that a bleed over from another timeline?

in the sabbath text we get:

Quote:
The spooks stepped in and slapped an injunction on us to keep us from implementing the system commercially. We had figured on setting up Acheron (that's what we called it) as an outsourced service we could pitch to businesses. The bigger the client base, the better our knowledgebase became. It wouldn't take too many Fortune 1000 clients to have a pretty tight setup. The plan was to grab onto a few of those, toot our own horns about the government relationship, take it public, and cash out.

And why he was unstable when we first met him:
Quote:
I didn't expect to so completely retreat into myself when faced with enforced solitude. Little did I know the rat bastard was drugging my food to keep my docile. Sadly, my body didn't react so well and the side effects were, shall we say, severe. I'm not sure if they screwed up the dosages, mixed to many different chemicals, or what, but my mental state went right into the toilet. I'd describe it further, but you already saw the end result.

Suffice it to say, I became increasingly paranoid and self-destructive. My mental acuity suffered gradually and eventually, I wasn't coherent enough to work. The paranoia, coupled with my ingrained loath of authority, really did a number on me. I was convinced that everyone was out to get me and that I was not long in this world.

But I do not think we still have a backdoor, at least not yet...

Quote:
My backdoor is still intact. I used it to get you here.

That may mean he left it on the NRU server in the first timeline, unless he counts his blog a backdoor...

THEY CALL ME PASTABAGEL

I'm not following this. How can Reggie move so readily back and forth between timelines, if that's what they are?

I'm almost certain that we are going to see the NRU website pop up again, and that there are going to be some key differences between the new one nad the old one.

But how do we know where Reggie is going? How do we know he's coming to us?

Is this game being written as we play it?

He isn't. Sabbath note is the Dream referred to in Reggie's blog. He "drew" us a map to where it could be found.

Reggie worked on Acheron. He is flying to where ever to fix a problem. OK maybe I am reading too much into that.

I think the story arc is planned out, but I think all games get tweaked a bit in implementation. With CTW it was Phyllis and Turingprinciple that got a bit more than initially expected. Plus the PM's may be dealing with a meltdown so had to jury rig a temporary patch.
